Hey there. I am looking for information on Runelord Zutha and Gastash. I know nothing official has been written (from what I can tell), but I want to develop informaiton on his realm nonetheless. From what I can gather, his realm would be in what is now the Hold of Belkzen. Anyone wish to confirm that? I am looking for a good ruin to place the Rod of Doresain( working title). This is originally called the Unholy Rod in one of my 3.5 products. It allows for 500HD of ghouls to be controlled. One of my villians wants to find it and then conquer Nemret Noktoria. then usher forth and destroy his native Osirion. Anyway, I want a reasonable place where the rod could be found. Maybe in the hands of an undead lieutenant of the Runelord? Possibly under the Cenotaph or under the Sleeper?
What do you think?
i could be wrong, but it seems like vampires and their spawn are hands down superior to lycanthropes in D20 systems.
Assuming that I am not wrong, I would like to see a more equal footing.
I want to run an adventure where lycanthrope rebels are trying to win back a town dominated by vampires (the lycanthropes are still evil in this scenario)but I wanted to do it without having to add many class levels to important NPCs.
As written the lycanthropes don't seem to be much of a challenge in a toe-to toe fight ( I agree there are other tactics that can be used, but they won't work all the time- Vampires aren't stupid after all and realize their weaknesses).
As such, how can we modify the lycanthropes to make them more effective against undead?
Yes, I know this will likely change the CR. I'm fine with that.
I have the subscription and so try to use them as they come up.
I have used the item cards and Crit decks the most. The cards I find look good but can be a problem to keep organized for my players (all noobs). They love the crit decks however.
Last week we used the plot twist cards for the first time. They loved it! Many plan on uses their cards as soon as they can.
this week I am going to introduce the Harrow cards and try to use them at least once this game, so they get a sense of how they work.
I am debating however, on using them a litlle differently and want to know if anyone else has used any of these products and how well they worked for them.
thanks.

So every translocation spell that I have read allows a save to objects but otherwise the subjects must be willing. Why?
Why can't we use these spells in offensive combat? It would be so cool. Touch a foe and teleport him to the kings' dungeon, or into the air, or onto a mountain top, or into the crypt of a vampire (etc).
I think of movies like Jumper and heroes like Nightcrawler. What they can do is great, and they always use their ability to maximum effectiveness.
Why not here?
Introduce a saving throw and a max damage appropriate to the level of the spell (if someone were to try and teleport a foe into an object or high in the air or under the ocean etc.)
It would make creatures that can teleport at will (when it is not self only) that much more dangerous, and spells like dimensional anchor that much more useful.
I would love to hear from a developer (because I know this version would have been discussed at some point) why this was not allowed in the final version of the spells in question.
thanks.

Hey there. I run a ROTRL game for my students as an afterschool activity. As they are new to the game, I use alot of miniatures and maps so the game is viseral and easier for them to grasp and get into.
Lately I decided that it was time to add some more cerebral touches to our game. I just issued some plot twist cards and the kids seem excited about that. Also, I told them that we would be using new skills to enhance the variety of their tactics.
Metamagic skill is not new on this forum, but I though I would share what I was planning to do. There are so many neat MM feats and so few feat slots that few if any gamers that I know have ever really used them. If they didn't cost anything we would use them more often. Here's what I have decided to try:
Use the spellcraft skill + the metamagic cost + double the level of the spell. The base DC is 15 for 0 level spells. So to Still spell a MM would have a DC of 18 ( base 15+1+2) and a Maximized Meteor Swarm would have a DC of 36 (Base 15+3+18). Failure to meet the DC would result in loss of the spell. A spectacular failure may result in a magical backlash or wild magic roll ( really haven't decided on that yet). This metamagic skill is usable a number of times per day equal to the con modifier of the magic user in question (minimum of 1 use per day). The limit of Meta magic on any one particular spell is equal to the caster's relevant ability score (e.g. INT for wizards.)
Now For the martial classes I plan to use Battle Sense, which is modified by the character's intelligence score(very similiar to the skill found in Star Wars D20 -not sure of the edition). This skill would be useable as a free action once per round (unless they use their free actiont to do something else) to improve some aspect of their combat ability. The Base DC is 15, which yeilds a +1 competence bonus which could be put towards any one of the following: BAB,Damage, AC, initiative,CMD or CMB. For every DC increase of +5, the bonus granted would increase by 1. So trying for a bonus of +5 would yeild a Battle Sense DC of 35. Failure indicates a -2 to the chosen battle attribute to represent various miscalculations.
I see Battle sense as a class skill for all martial characters.
Mult-class characters could end up with both skills, but could only put points into one or the other per level (though I am sure someone will point out exceptions).
Character classes which are a little magic and a little martial (you know who you are) would chose upon character creation which of these skills you would specialize in. ( I am sure someone will complain about not being able to take both).
I also see SOME monsters being able to do these things, but not all. No unintelligent or non martial undead would have battle sense, but spectres of warriors or grave knights could have it. Likewise, every Lich worth his phylactery will use Metamagic at least once a day (should the ability be based off of Charisma for these... well what do you think?). Other races or creatures would use them on a case by case basis depending on the creature. Some Balors may prefer magic, others battle sense, spell weavers would most definately use metamagic even though they have low Con scores. We could easily develop a feat that increases their bonus by 1 or maybe races steeped in magic could use it based on another stat (again, let me know what you think).
So, like it or hate it, that is pretty much what we are going to use for the campaign. I'll let you know how it plays out.

Hey there. I am conducting a game for my students this year as an afterschool activity. As part of the overall story, they will encounter an example of an ancient race from before the dawn of human history. Since I own alot of warhammer minis, I tend to use these in my games. One I haven't used, which I think would be perfect for this campaign plot, is the Necron.
I have not stated up monsters in PFRPG before, so I wanted to know what anyone in the know about WH40K/F or Necrons would consider a fair CR for a Necron Warrior to be.
My PCs are 6th level now and run the gamut in classes (everything from Wizards, clerics and Magus, to fighters, samurai and dragon shamans).
I want the warrior to show the truly ancient and alien nature of the C'tan but at the same time be manageable. Also keep in mind that I want them to be able to progress against more warriors and eventually the immortals, wraiths, flayed ones, Necron Lords and possibly the Nightbringer himself.
I was thinking CR3, 2HD, some undead/construct traits, hivemind (maybe?) high strength from their robot body and maybe 13 dex due to the gauss flayer they use (this would do 2d6 damage; 1d6 unholy, 1d6 acid). Average fighter saves, high natural armor bonus, infravision, low CHA and wisdom stats, average intelligence, immune to fear...
you get the picture.
Anyway, to clarify I would like some input on the stats for the warrior and what would be good/fair for a 'Necron Template'. Maybe necron template would be all I would need and then I could apply that to a 3rd lvl warrior, or 5th level rogue or what have you.
thanks.
For an assignment, my students are making a Pathfinder website about their Storval Plateau campaign. They plan to include photos of their 'characters';miniatures they are using to represent the personalities and classes they created. They also asked about using artwork from other sources. I said that they would not be able to do so without permission.
Two questsions:
1. Was I correct? If so, how would they go about getting permission to use artwork for their site? If I am not correct, what should I tell them?
2. can anyone recomend good/free webpage building sites/software. We are trying Wix.com for now, but if there is something better/easier than I would like to take a look at it.
thanks.
Mabye some of your other Canadaian customers can relate to my problem. I live in Newfoundland and as it is a small place we have no local stores which sell the products that you sell. As such I spend thousands each year on your site. I regularly get hit for customs charges, but not every time. I never know which orders will get a customs charge and which will not. Just today I had to pay an extra 64.00$ more than I was expecting. I talked to the post mistress in my community and she said that the cost occurs on the American side.
Can anyone explain to me why some orders get hit with hefty customs charges and others sail through with barely a stamp? I find it really frustrating, and I will love some information to help me understand this process.
In these posts, it lists which items you subscribe to. the items I subscribe to are: Adventure Path, Pathfinder Chronicles, Pathfinder Companion, Pathfinder Modules, and the Pathfinder RPG, but not all of these appear in my posts. Could this be fixed?
Hi. I have been playing a long time but it has been a while since I live in an isolated community. I have recently started a gaming group at mhy school and my students have shown a great deal of enthusiasm. Characters are almost finished and we should start playing this week. I was just wondering if anyone else is running a game at their school and if so what rules/tweaks they are using.
Some stats:
-there are nine players from ages of 12-17.
-none have tabletop RPG experience
- some are familiar with WOW, runescape, Dragon Age.
- 7 males , 2 females
- Races chosen: 1 dwarf, 2 haflings, 1 elf, 2 humans, 3 half-orcs.
- Classes chosen: Barbarian 3, 1 cleric, 1 druid, 1 rogue, 3 fighters.
i would very much like to keep their interest so I am thinking I need procedures that keep the game flowing at a quick pace (we only have 1 two hour block to play each week) and so that everyone feels included.
thanks.

Last War Campaign: Stage 1: The Hunt
You find yourselves gathered in the city of Fairhavenin the region of Aundair during the month of Nymm. The year is 894 and the Kingdom of Galifar is in trouble. All spring, rumors circulate that the king is dying, and his heirs are not clear or content with the process of procession. Everywhere around you in the streets and shops people are talking about it. Even as you enter the Arcane Dreams Inn, you hear various people arguing over how the succession will play out.
That concerns you little however, as you have more pressing issues. For the past few weeks, you have been searching for a political agitator in Aundair, a shifter called Bruhask. Mauthinus, your ‘handler’ from the Kings Eyes of Aundair wants him brought in alive for interrogation. Shifter clans in the Eldeen Reacheshave been organizing and Bruhask seems to be behind it.
In the Acrane Dreams, you await Mauthinus. What do you do?

Hi. I am looking for players for a Last War campaign in Eberron. What I would like to do would be to run a game over the century of conflict or close to it. Players could have major effects on the war, do heroic things, but I plan to not have events in-game alter the prescribed history.
A few things to keep in mind if you are interested:
3.5 rules.
*Demihumans or longevic races have preference (since they could possibly see the beginning and (hopefull)end of the war.
*Humans and other short lived races could be used if longevic feat(s) are taken.
* 3rd level to start; an elite group.
*All standard classes and Eberron items (with just a few execptions as they have not been invented yet) are availiable.
*All alignments (except chaotic evil) are available BUT players must be loyal to their company, squad, country etc.
*the missions/adventures will be a mix of battles, quests, dungeon crawl, resques, heroics. It won't all be battlefield related.
Also, all players should arguably come from the same nation. The campaign could play out differently depending on which nation we choose to represent. Options for countries for this campaign include Audair, Eldeen Reaches(part of Aundair I know, but still), Breland, Thrane, Karranth, Breland, Mror Holds. Droaam, Zilargo, Q'Barra(if lizardman), Dargunn, and the Lhazzar are not nations to be represented, but possibly sites of origin.
So, this is the idea I would like to run. Hit me back if you would like to give it a try, and or have some suggestions. Looking for 3-5 players

Oreth has been mired in dark times.
First the Old One set the drums of war in motion and the embers of the Greyhawk Wars flared to life. It's smoldering flames are out in all but three areas. The Fiend-Lich's orcs in the Pomarj still war with the Dwarves, Elves, and Humans in surrounding lands, and Iuz's forces still skirmish with soldiers of Furyondy's northern border. The once Great Kingdom, fallen to bickering pieces during the Wars, and are now war torn fiefs controlled by undead Hextorians, undead or fiends, who continue to batter away at each other. Monstrous peoples and nations lick their wounds and wait for the next onslaught. Mercenary human nations hire out to both sides and wait for weakness to strike there own blows of conquest. The Scarlet Brotherhood sends their agents and assassins across the south to control the islands, shipping and spice trade to the northern lands.
Goodness is limited to scattered pockets and a few exhuasted nations in the Central Flaness.
Second, the Age of Worms did not come to pass by a narrow margin. Most do not even know how close they came to utter destruction.
Third, the Blood War came to Oreth. Devils took greater control of the Former Great Kingdom, turning people to evil and Devil worship, swelling their ranks. As the years pass, they are entrenching their values among the populaces, which assure them a steady crop of souls. The Demons respond the only way they know how. Widespread Chaos and destruction. Cagewrights try to free their lord Adimarchus and fail, leaving a huge portal hanging above Cauldron from which Carcerian forces stream through to throw all living things into chains and misery. Demogorgon initiates another Savage Tide which small groups of adventurers are, even now, struggling to avert. Finally, the Gnoll Lord Yeenoghu has found the Ghoul's Heart. It is said to be in the possession of a fallen angel, corrupted by it's evil. The lord wishes to accquire this deadly artifact but the reasons are not known. His agents have unified the previously weak demons living in the Demonscar of the Amedio Jungle, and are preparing for war.
The angel, whose name is known to only a few, has joined forces with a corrupt druid known as the Rotton One, and together are slowly turning the famed jungle into a rotted and corrupt version of itself. Scattered beings, races and tribes of the Amedio have joined together in an alliance to keep his 'Terror Forest' from spreading any further.
Greystoke, Fiend-Lich and Lord of the Pomarj has dispatched agents from the Bleak Academy and Horned Society to establish an enclave in the Hellfurnaces to find this Ghoul's Heart and claim it for him. Omicron, a Deathwalker of immense power, is the leader of this cabal but he goes against his lords' wishes an establishes a Necropatria of his own. His ambitions remain unknown save that all living things his agents encounter are brought back to his Necropolis...alive.
Just north of these threats lies the Hold of the Sea Princes. A large land once known for piracy, but of late known for civil war. Keoland in the north threatens to annex the territory if things are not brought back to order. The Scarlet Brotherhood struggles to regain more of the region they fully controlled scant years ago. Inland fiefs, cut off from support from the coast fall to monsters, bandits, and worse, or become fully independent. Free cities fight for promenance on the coast, struggling against pirates and Scarlet Brothers alike.
The territory has become wild from the coast to the mountains. If left unchecked, the horrors from the Hellfurnaces and Amedio will spill forth and wholly destroy the Hold of the Sea Princes before spreading further north.
Heroes are needed...
Remnants of the shattered Company of the Silver Scale, and their draconic patrons rise to fill the gap just north of the Hellfurnaces. The silver dragons, a good and strong family of five, along with copper and bronze dragon friends fight off the hordes as they come north, and work to unify the scattered fiefs to put up a resistance. So far they have created the Silver Scale protectorate of which they are the defacto rulers but whose administration falls to the mortals of the region. Their knights come from the Company of the Silver Scale. Once just the name of an adventuring party, but now grown through the efforts of surviving allies and grateful mortals the company once saved. They are the knights, soldiers, sheriffs, and militia of many SSP towns and hamlets. All wear a badge of office which looks much like a small great sheild in the shape of a dragon scale. They wear navy blue cloaks and come from all races and classes. Still, the people affectionately call them " The Boys in Blue".
The Boys in Blue are constantly looking for new recruits to fight on the frontlines, police the towns, or ride the back roads to bring peace to the interior and more people into the commonwealth of the SSP.
You find yourselves all veterans of your various fields in the croweded square of the free city of Sassarine, listening to a Boy in Blue barker as the crowd ebbs and flows around you.
What do you do?

Hey. This is an invitation to anyone who would like to join a Greyhawk campaign I started awhile back. It picks up where the SCAP left off, but the PCs lost (TPK). A gate to Carceri is open over the ruins of Cauldron and the Cagewrights have yet to free Adimarchus. The demons of the Demonscar are organized under minions of Yeenoghu and looking for territory, while a corrupt druid and fallen angel try to expand a blighted area of jungle to cover everything in the Amedio. Add to that a small but powerful kingdom of undead in Stoneharrow and you have a great deal of impending doom on your schedule! But all is not lost. A family of Silver Dragons is amalgamating the scattered fiefs on the edge of the Hold of the Sea Princes into a coalition called the Silver Scale Protectorate to stop undead, demon, gnoll, and Carcerian incursions north. In addition, jungle druids, treants, fey and the remaining free tribes have gathered in an alliance to fight off the blight of their forest. Borders shift constantly, battles are lost and won, and heroes are in dire need.
any takers?
P.S. This post was first in the Play by post section.
The title pretty much sums it up. I live in Newfoundland (Eastern Canada) and have as yet never had the opportunity to travel the thousands of miles to attend the event ( sigh).
Basically I would love to hear stories or thoughts about this year's Con, or any Con that you have been to in the past. ( The good, bad, and ugly).
thanks.

Hey. I am in the area and I want to do some gaming. I need some players willing to play 3.5 PF or DND or a Palladium system. Something quick and simple or the start of a campaign, that can be continued at Christmas, Easter etc, are good for me. Any takers?
The subject title basically sums this up for me. Much of the material printed for this hobby is for young teens and up. The game seems to try for a clean and wholesome look ( depending on the publisher) and I guess that is to placate discerning parents.
Now, despite the inherent conflict/levels of violence within the game, the levels of love/lust are hardly dealt with let alone role played ( for obvious reasons) and yet they are such an important part of our world, it is hard to truly ignore those elements in the game without it losing something and becoming a bit souless IMO.
What I want to know is how strongly you use/reject the ideas of love/lust and sex in your games. We all know that sex sells and we see from the art of several books from several companies that it is in our game, but how much does it play a role in 'your' game?
thanks.
I can't say that I am a fan-boy of this book, but I do love it. I am just interested to hear the comments of others on this book. All comments are good. thanks. ( apologies if this topic has already been started, I didn't look very hard to see if it was).
