SPECIAL ABILITIES

Perception bonus You have catlike ears that grant you a +2 Racial bonus on hearing-based Perception checks.

Tears cure disease Your tears cure disease. You can cast remove disease once per day as a spell-like ability.

Two Variations You may have two of these Variant Abilities.

Aasimar (Agathion Blooded) Agathion Blooded Aasimars Receive a +2 bonus to Constitution and Charisma and a +2 bonus to Handle Animal and Survival checks. They can cast Summon Nature's Ally II as a spell like ability.

Aura of Good (Ex) You project a faint good aura.

Aura of Good

Bastard You were born out of wedlock. You have always been an outsider in society, and in your own family. This perspective has sharpened your insight. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Sense Motive checks, and Sense Motive is always a class skill for you.

Celestial Language (Ex) Aasimars speak Celestial.

Celestial Resistance (Ex) Aasimars have acid resistance 5, cold resistance 5, and electricity resistance 5.

Darkvision See in the dark up to 60 ft.

Darkvision (Ex) Range 60 ft.; Darkvision is the extraordinary ability to see with no light source at all, out to a range specified for the creature. Darkvision is black and white only (colors cannot be discerned). It does not allow characters to see anything that they could not see otherwise-invisible objects are still invisible, and illusions are still visible as what they seem to be. Likewise, darkvision subjects a creature to gaze attacks normally. The presence of light does not spoil darkvision.

Detect Evil (Sp) At will, you can use Detect Evil, as the Spell. You can, as a move action, concentrate on a single individual or item within 60 feet and determine if it is evil, learning the strength of its aura as if having studied it for 3 rounds. While focusing on one individual or object, you do not detect evil in any other object or individual within range.

Resistance to Acid (Ex) You may ignore 5 points of Acid damage each time you take acid damage.

Resistance to Cold (Ex) You may ignore 5 points of Cold damage each time you take cold damage.

Resistance to Electricity (Ex) You may ignore 5 points of Electricity damage each time you take electricity damage.

Skilled (Ex) Agathion Blooded Aasimars receive a +2 bonus to Handle Animal and Survival checks.

Smite Evil (Su) You can call out to the powers of good to aid you in your struggle against evil 1 times per day. As a swift action, you choose one target within sight to smite. If this target is evil, you add +3 to your attack rolls and +1 to all damage rolls made against the target of your smite. If the target of Smite Evil is an outsider with the evil subtype, an evil-aligned dragon, or an undead creature, the bonus to damage on the first successful attack increases to +2. Regardless of the target, Smite Evil attacks automatically bypass any DR the creature might possess. In addition, while smite evil is in effect, you gain a +3 deflection bonus to your AC against attacks made by the target of the smite. If you target a creature that is not evil, the smite is wasted with no effect. The Smite Evil effect remains until the target of the smite is dead or the next time you rest and regain your uses of this ability.

Unhappy Childhood (Religious) You spent a period of time as one of Gaedren's enslaved orphans. Maybe you were abducted from your parent's home or during a trip to the market. Perhaps the irresponsible matron who ruled your orphanage traded you to him in return for a desperately needed loan of money. Or perhaps you, like most of Gaedren's slaves, were merely a child of the street who succumbed to his promise of regular meals and a roof in return for what he said would be "a little light work." Whatever the case, you spent several years of your life as one of his "Little Lamms" before escaping. You've nursed a grudge for the old man ever since. You found a holy symbol of the god you worship today while on a job for Gaedren and, intrigued by it, you snuck off to attend services. When Gaedren found out, he beat you to within an inch of your life and broke your holy symbol. Your faith let you block out the pain, and you escaped his control and took shelter in the church, where you spent the rest of your youth. You gain a +2 concentration bonus and Constitution saves to stabilize..

Variant Ability (Sp) Some aasimars are blessed or cursed with unusual abilities.

Background:

Some say that aasimars are born under unusual circumstances, which would be true of Geneviève Châtel, the daughter of Serena Châtel, a low-ranking noblewoman. Despite the fact that the young girl never knew who father, her mother tried her best to raise her daughter as she could alone. Serena loved her daughter, but whenever the subject of the child’s father came up, Geneviève’s mother would only say that at one time her lover had fancied her and she fancied him, but his attention soon drifted from her to another. It was only later that Serena became pregnant with Geneviève. Her mother wouldn’t speak of who the father was though. Serena soon realized that her daughter had been blessed with the blood of the Châtel Family’s celestial patron, a silver furred leonal agathion who had fallen for the Châtel House’s founder, a paladin of Shelyn who had risked life and limb to save a baby unicorn from ravenous trolls. That explained why the emblem of House Châtel was that of a silver lion protecting a baby unicorn.

As days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, Geneviève soon saw that the family’s fortunes turned, and not for the best it would seem. Serena became ill from the stress of trying to keep her family afloat, but sadly the strain was too much to bear. Serena died in her sleep, cradling her daughter one last time, singing a song that had always been Geneviève’s favorite. House Châtel fell that day. To make matters worse, the family had fallen greatly into debt and the family manor was sold to pay off the creditors. As for Geneviève, with no surviving relatives or anyone willing to take her in, she was sent to an overcrowded orphanage. Despite being the blunt of taunts and bullying, the little girl whose family had been once a part of the nobility, tried to look on the bright side of things, but things only became darker.

The irresponsible matron who ruled the orphanage traded the little girl to a man named Gaedren Lamm in return for a desperately needed loan of money. Geneviève wondered if she had been adopted, but she soon learned that Gaedren was not interested in raising a family, unless you count him enslaving orphans to be used as his pickpockets and agents of crime called the ‘Little Lamms.’ Geneviève was forced to become a con artist, tricking people of their money. However, she tried to beg, pleading passersby of money in the hopes that she could earn enough to get out from under Gaedren’s control, but the despicable man would have none of it. He enjoyed calling her things like, ‘Fallen Lady’ or made fun of her cat-like slit eyes by calling her ‘Cat Eyes.’ Then, when she reached puberty, did Gaedren realized that he had stroke gold.

Geneviève’s body grew shiny silver fur over her body as her hands became equipped with claw-like fingernails. She even grew a lioness’s tail, while her ears became catlike! Gaedren hoped that he could use her as pickpocket and even con people out of a lot of money because surely anyone would take pity on a homeless child who carried the blood of angels in her veins. However, a complication soon appeared not long after her celestial heritage showed itself. Geneviève found a holy symbol of the goddess Shelyn while on a job for Gaedren and, intrigued by it, she snuck off to attend services at the Sanctuary of Shelyn. When Gaedren found out that the aasimar child was slicking her duties to him, he exploded in rage and beat her to within an inch of the aasimar’s life and broke her holy symbol. But Geneviève’s faith let her block out the pain and she fortunately escaped his control and took shelter in the church of Shelyn where she spent the rest of her youth there. Geneviève trained to become a paladin of Shelyn, hoping to make her departed mother proud of her. She tends to keep her face and ears (and especially her tail!) covered, worried that others might be unsettled by her appearance, as she sometimes wonders if being an aasimar is a curse, and not a blessing.

Physical Description:

Geneviève is an attractive aasimar, blessed with the fortitude and beauty of the agathions of Nirvana, specifically leonals, in addition to an unearthly beauty. She has furred catlike ears and a lioness’s tail. Her body is covered in shiny, silvery fur that is as soft as silk. Her shoulder-length hair is a mixture of golden yellow and silver, sparkling in the sunlight. In the moonlight, her hair turns a metallic, shining silver. Above her head is a glowing halo. To keep others from guessing, she’s an aasimar, she tries to convince others that the halo is the result of a magical item she was given or found. She also has an unique scent about her: she smells of roses.

Personality:

Geneviève is a shy, yet friendly person, trying her best to do good wherever she goes. She is extremely paranoid, however, about what others would think of her if they learned she was an aasimar. She goes to great lengths to hide her appearance. She does care about others and would sacrifice herself to defend those she would call friend as well as her ideals. She is strongly devoted to the Eternal Rose and does her best to live up to honoring the code of Shelyn's holy warriors. When she speaks, she tends to speak softly, trying her hardest to be polite to those she is talking to. Deep down, she desires to show others who she really is and not be afraid and ashamed of her celestial heritage. It would take a momentous event to get her to do that though.

Who is Geneviève's father?:

Geneviève's father is none other than King Eodred Arabasti II. He and Serena Châtel met a while back during one of the king's 'hunt for beautiful women' (which was often actually). The reason why Serena never revealed that she had bore the king's daughter was due to the danger of angry nobles who were vying for the throne as well as the fear that King Eodred might refuse to legitimize Geneviève. Plus, there was also the danger that there could be other illegitimate heirs and thus plunge Korvosa into civil war. Serena decided to wait and talk with the king, but she never got the chance as she got sick and passed away.
