Gant AC16 Touch 12 Hp16/16 "Banging on the sarcophagus like brain addled elves?" Gant sighs and nervously looks around. Again, if any enemy presents itself, he will pop it with his crossbow. "...this would be so much easier if I had a destructive spell on my lips....what would my brothers and sister think, though?...maybe I'll learn from brain addled elves. No."
Gant will shoot at wolf #1, the one that is behind him somehow. Note to DM: If that wolf was headed that direction, I should have gotten my readying action to shoot at that one. Readied shot at wolf #1: Readied action crossbow shot at wolf #1 (1d20+3=13, 1d8=3) Regular shot at #1 when it's my turn again:
HP 16/16 AC16 Initiative roll, wolf battle (1d20+2=3) Rolled a total of 3 Please note that Gant is at the corner southwest of the #2 on the map, as stated in my previous post. He is not in the spot listed on the map. He would also not be so close to other party members when there is that much room available. For future reference: Gant will try to stay at least 20' away from any other party member, towards the rear. He will scan behind for threats but doesn't want to be huddled up next to anyone unless space constraints prevent it. Gant doesn't see the wolves from his spot on the map, but sees the rest of the party tense up. His readied action still stands. Crossbow shot (1d20+3=14, 1d8=1) Pretty sure that missed. AC14, 1 point of damage.
Gant agrees. After talking with Bezell, he heads back to his family and tells them that he has been asked to retrieve an item from the Whispering Cairn, a ring stolen from the halfling girl we saw earlier. A guy named Crowe wearing a yellow shirt and green jacket, a young human male, stole it. Gant states "I'd like to explore the Whispering Cairn first, please. If the Stirgenest still appeals to us later, we can do that one then?"
Gant leaves a note for his kin and will be at the standing stones at dawn. The note says: "I think the halfling Bezell wants to meet me in private at the standing stones near the edge of town on a hill above the vein. If I'm not back by mid morning, assume that something ill befell me." Gant will take his stuff and make a survival (to track who may have come to the hill while circling it just before dawn), spot and listen check to look for treachery prior to the meeting Screwed up the roll I guess...take the first three rolls, so I rolled a 16 Survival, 11 spot and 15 listen.
Gant keeps himself steady at 1 mug of ale per hour, while watching the crowd for threats. "Maybe I'm a strange dwarf for wanting to cast magic and for not getting drunk." Gant will try to quietly tell his brothers and sister that it might be wise to avoid mentioning that we are looking for a cairn to loot to anyone other than Roryn. "I don't mind cutting him in for a share, but since all he's doing is telling us where the cairn is, that share better be small."
Gant doesn't need to buy anything right now. He probably does, just doesn't know better. He puts the money in his pouch, cinches it tight and hides it under his tunic, the way he's seen the dwarven merchants do whenever they dealt with humans. He keeps 5 silvers out for tonight's drinking. He'll keep his eye out for the halfling. "I just know she's a spell caster. I have these thoughts bursting out of me. I can almost feel the patterns and waves of magic waft over Faerun. Yes, my weapons have power, but the need to tap into the magic energy is within me. I can feel it." I'll follow my kin and try to keep them safe. Whenever possible I'll watch for rear attacks and ambushes, even in the bar. I'll have a couple of ales, but won't get drunk. Maybe my lack of desire to get totally smashed on ale is as contrary to my dwarven heritage as my almost physical need to touch magic.
Gant unloads the cask of ale and bottles of mead. "WAKE UP, TIME TO DRINK!!!!!" Gant will drink a couple of ales and then do his turn on watch, unless his brothers and sister get too drunk and he'll sit up for an extra shift if necessary. If that happens, he'll be quite grouchy in the morning, but this area freaks him out. They have forges....aboveground.....
Gant pockets the note and heads back to camp. Halfway to camp, Gant and Moverock alter their path, head for some cover and check to see if they're being followed. Natural 20. If we are not being followed, we will take a tactical route back to camp, moving slowly and checking for ambushes, the sky and behind us at random intervals.
AC16 HP16/16 He sure speaks fine. Prices are high, but the cask of ale for 4 silvers doesn't sound bad. I'd better pick up two bottles of mead. "Two bottles of the High Forest mead please, and a cask of the Golden Sheaf ale. Thank you. Is there a place we can trade a freshly slain deer for coin or barter?" Gather Info roll (1d20+3=4) I would argue I wouldn't have to reroll every sentence of a conversation since I made a good diplomacy roll, but here it is in case it is needed. I mark off the 8gp and 4sp.
"I'm good at listening and I have been told that people listen to me. I will go to the Inn, purchase ale and mead and bring it back to the camp site. I don't think we should sleep there tonight yet. For all we know it is a camp of evil." Gant accompanies whomever else goes to the Inn. It doesn't matter which one. He keeps his warhammer loose in its frog, ready for quickdraw. He leaves his camping gear, backpack and provisions behind at the camp. During the walk to town he will hang back and check the flanks and rear and skies frequently for potential threats. "We should leave at least two people at the camp, but they shouldn't start 'making camp' yet until we are all together again. I feel splitting up is not a good idea right now."
Syntax error causes orc language leak, putting orcish troops everywhere at risk. Orcileaks scandal brings down Silverymoon administration. Shoot another bolt. Crossbow shot, it's a possible crit Confirm crit only if it hits AC14, doubt it does 7 points if no crit, 12 pts if it does crit.
AC16 hp16/16 Seasickness.....I thought that only happened to elves. I....must....remain.....stoic.....must.....not.....show.....weakness Orcs!!!! Iniative 21 Attack Roll 12 Damage 8 Fires crossbow bolt on his initiative, probably missed. Master of the Arcane never miss....can't let my brothers or my sister hear that! |
