About Gans Bosco

10 Minute Background:
1. Gans is a rare example of a male Viera, and fairly short compared to the average Hume man, though his short Feol ears help bridge the gap a bit. Like most Feol, his hair is blond, but his complexion is light. He usually wears a loose white shirt and sturdy overalls, stained with grease and soot, and heavy boots.
2. Gans is the second oldest of many siblings, boasting a total of ten sisters. He lives with his father in their workshop in Tesla, while his sisters and mother live in the nearby woods.
3. Gans is upbeat and hard working, intent on getting his work done, but more than happy to chat, joke, or entertain in his own awkward way while doing so.
4.
5. Gans learned to shoot from his mother on the rare occasions he got to visit. While he's had far more time to learn his father's many crafts, he's been practicing his archery in the off hours.

1. Bjorn, his automaton, is a proof-of-concept, designed to be equal parts robot and vehicle. The current design is only big enough for a Small rider at the moment, but Gans is looking forward to riding Bjorn through the unclaimed surface in the near future.
2. I'd love for Gans to reclaim some long lost technology and put it to good use in the expedition, finding ways to convert magitek from mana to other forms of power.

1. Gans and his father helped in the construction of the Celeste, so he's somewhat familiar with how the ship is laid out, including a few hidden caches that were doctored into the plans on the shipyard.
2. Gans is unfamiliar with the significance of the Hornbow his mother gave him, which was made of parts from The Surface a long time ago.

1. Salva Bosco is Gans older sister, their Mother's apprentice much like Gans is to their Father. She's far more in tune with old family secrets and techniques, and refused to let Gans join the expedition without taking her Curing Belt to keep him safe.
2. Ensign Ricky, a Hume member of the Celeste crew, he works closely with the maintainers and is technically Gans' commanding officer in that respect. He's the one that nominated Gans to join the rest of the party as a technological expert.
3. Mephont Cipond, an Elezen inventor locked in a heated rivalry with Gans' Father. Gans sees the conflict as being far more friendly than it is, missing the decades of tension between the two that's ready to snap.

1. The day Gans hit puberty and had to go live with his father was a bittersweet moment. He misses living with all of his sisters and mother, but has the separation to thank for his engineering prowess.
2. Gans spent years trying to get Bjorn to work. He bit off more than he could chew, but once he grew into his own and managed to get Bjorn working, all the frustration was worth it.
3. Gans isn't much of a cook, but he knows one recipe, an old one handed down in his family for custard. He'll prepare a batch or two of it ahead of time and keeps it in a mason jar to snack on when his impulse control gets the better of him.

Background:
Gans grew up with his mother and sisters, learning how to shoot, and failing to learn much else related to wilderness survival. When he was old enough to stand out from his many sisters, he said goodbye to his mother and siblings and moved into his father's workshop in the heart of Tesla. He took to urban life quickly, pouring himself into his studies of engineering, and moving on from his homesickness. The more he learned and built, the more his imagination got the better of him, pushing his creations beyond his own skill, only to rise to his self-imposed challenge.

When his father and he were commissioned to help with the building of the Celeste, thoughts of visiting the surface, pitting his creation, Bjorn against the untamed wild, and salvaging long lost technology, pushed him to volunteer. The ship needed maintainers, and any away crews needed someone who could figure out how to work old machines. In his enthusiasm, he befriended one of the crew, Ensign Ricky, who was very glad to have someone else jump at the chance to explore the surface in his place. Seen off by his family, with a parting gift from his older sister, Gans and Bjorn ship off with the Celeste for adventure and the future of Borealis.
