This entire thread of discussing cheaper methods has inspired me to think of a wizard being very cheaply with his spells.

Rolling that bluff to try to convince the party to cover their entire body and kit in baking flour, because "It's magical, I'm a wizard trust me." Then hitting his party with a gust to detect invisible things.

"Sensitive ears that creature has, yes." *attaches a cowbell to his weapon*

Well, the player might be NG, but his character's alignment should take a shift. After all it looks like he just plain went crazy.

I don't know how all of the party decided to not use nonlethal damage. What was going on there?

Possibilities:
-All go to jail for a few years until a prison break.
-Get some clockwork orange-style brainwipage for the whole party, until some bad dude tries to cause havoc and release them.
-Turns out, the orcs and half-orcs were baby eaters, slavers, plotting treason or something.
-It was a set up all along, and the orc band was paid to try and kill the party.

4 pictures sent. Put Sara Marie, etc. on the subject since she asked for them. I hope that makes it easier to find the email.

One of my recent shipments had the same water damage problem. A couple of "crinkly" pages but nothing to stress about. I'd presumed it had happened here (in south Australia) but maybe there was some broader issue before it left the us.

Well, I don't know if the problem is related since mine was US ground. It depends on the carrier you selected for international shipping. The one for that particular delivery was UPS. UPS packages from other locations had little problems.

However, the weather in February was very intense and could have roughed up a roof enough to cause a leak. This of course, doesn't explain impact damage although it may have been part of the path least resistance of the force that was directed into the rear part of the blister packaging, smashing a part of the contents.

The Exchange

I'll try to finish taking pictures, upload, and send the images by the end of the week. If not, it should be inbox by Monday. Busy workday.

Opened up the Jabberwock model from that shipment today. The large metal base and the base tab part of the model that is meant to be put in the slot of the base and the model attached to it seem to have taken an impact, possibly from the taped wet crunched part of the shipping box.

There is a vertical crack halfway down the bottom middle of one of the slot sides on the base. The flash that was on the side nearest to the crack was fairly smashed. The base didn't come flat, it was bent. However, dince it's just a base it works fine bent back. I could use it fine, although it does indicate that the warped Jabberwock model tab and foot was likely fine before it was impacted.

The leg, tail, and model tab of the Jabberwork is completely misaligned and I could not gently nudge it back properly to a suitable place that didn't still look gimped. It was impacted on the leg side. Originally, it couldn't fit into the base it was so bent.

Putting the base and the base next to each other it looked like the damage was caused by the same single impact as they were both bent in a similar direction. I think it came from the rear part of the packaging, where there was very little impact protection.

My guess is that somewhere in the world, someone sucks at driving a forklift.

P.S. I'm fairly tired making this post, do I hope the post is understandable enough to be read.

Is it possible to delay shipping and combine this with the second AP of the Carrion Crown series via normal subscription? I am not expecting any additional text orders so I am trying to cut shipping costs.

It's just not economically feasible for separate shipments.

One more thing, add one of those (empty) $2.00 sturdy treasure boxes to the combined order.

Looks like order #1604896 is still within its estimated delivery time (8 business days puts it at February 24th) - please let us know if it does not arrive in a timely manner!

It finally arrived, with a bunch of other mail stuffed in the mailbox. I guess that's what happens when it isn't your turn to check the mail.

The Exchange

1614977 arrived in a timely manner, however the box seemed to have been damaged in one of the corners and seemed to have somewhat suffered from the effects of water. I don't know if this was caused by warehousing or the UPS ground (or which branch). The brown paper packaging in the damaged corner seemed to have worked.

The Dragon's Trove box bottom seemed like it had taken some of the moisture and roughness. Since the cards are wrapped in plastic, the cards were intact with no damage. One of the mini blisters packaging was dented in one corner. Had this order include product involving paper, I think it would have been fairly ruined.

I would note that it has been raining in my area. It might be also raining between the WA, UPS ground, and my area for all I know. That might have caused the dampness in the corner.

Fortunately, since there were no actual paper products in the order, almost nothing in the package was damaged. The taldorian battlemage staff head came bent 45 degrees bent toward the head, but it was sturdy enough to bend back into place.

1604896 has not been received yet as of 2/18th, although it was shipped 1 business day earlier. The transit time is different from the above order, so the transit time has passed yet. I'll have an update on the order by the 25th.

Kind of tired, so sorry for the poor formatting.

The fact that I mentioned the detail with the ring, was simply to compare the strict RAW reading argument of 'Ring heals you - it is magical - then you get feat bonus', to the healing gained from similar sources such as fast healing.

And to me, the fast healing issues remained a relevant part of this discussion, as nobody on the other side of the debate, had bothered to relate to quite important points that it isn't necessarily an extraordinary ability.

That is because fast healing is an (ex) ability. Unless Paizo switched the company name to Paizo-Fox News, there's nothing to debate in the first place. Unless someone is being a rules lawyer and making up mechanics that don't exist, that is. The APG Summoner rules for the evolution upgrade are an exception to normal fast healing (ex) because of the other conditions placed on it and the nature of the eichodon. It doesn't mean this exception makes some new unwritten rule.

I believe that the RAW takes all this stuff into account, outside of having to explain everything. The rulebooks are meant to be understood and brief enough without having to resort to unnecessary elaborations. I for one, like not having to buy 700+ page core rulebooks.

In a sense, I think more or less this particular gap would likely be filled by the hands of fans.

Experienced high ranked PFS GMs in a closed and mature environment could eventually resolve worthy FAQs with consistency. PFS and PFS conventional events just haven't been out long enough to recognize enough GMs of significant talent. If there was enough, I would think that they could deal with FAQ problems or playtest solutions in public PFS events.

Overall, even though there will be more FAQ problems as time passes, I believe there will be an increase of people able to resolve them.

What would be the difference between using three feats with a 90k item and the Leadership feat with an Oracle of Life? I'm willing to get that the Oracle of Life cohort is a lot more game breaking than a limited Fast Healing 6. Basically what I'm saying is that it is no more game breaking than other options that come much sooner and do more.

There is nothing in the rules that suggests that the Faster Healer only applies once per effect. It clearly states that you gain the effects when you heal. The ring of regeneration (and the ioun stone) both state that you heal every round.

Whether or not that's what is intended is a completely different issue. The simple fact remains that this is how they interact with each other the way things are currently written.

I thank you for the higher level play insight.

It seems a lot of the arguments from some people are about how powerful the ring is on a lower level character that cannot even get a RoR. RoR is just average in power compared to other items of similar or lesser worth, even with the fast healer feat. It would only be worth the gold spent by crafting the item.

Three feats spent on one character and another character dedicated to craft the item seems like a fair drop into the good ol' Pathfinder resource bucket of character possibilities for just a ring or two.

No.

No it doesn't.

Why won't Infernal Healing trigger it? The argument seem to be based on a distinction between regaining and healing hit points, which does not exist anywhere else.

A) The hitpoints gained by fast healing are from non-magical healing.

B) The spell I.H. grants a (ex) non-magical hitpoint regaining ability. Like a creature with it, there's no magic involved with the actual healing.

C) No, I would think it would have mentioned resting. It is likely more so like hp gained through the heal skill. Then again, defining what is natural healing is actually one of the better questions from the FAQ flag spam here. So good job for making that point, that one might actually be worth a paizo response!

D) They don't work the same way as magical healing, either way.

Sorry, I was tired and my health condition at the moment is slightly painful. It can be a little distracting from trying to write coherently. I'll try and edit it later. Sorry.

EDIT: I can't edit it. Oh well I'll just try and be clearer next time. Got to go to work soon!

thepuregamer wrote:
That is a nice notion if there were things in the feat for you to compare to. But the feat is very simple. Technically, you guys aren't comparing any rules set to another. There are no rules that talk about how many instances of healing infernal healing is or how many instances of healing are the ring or ioun stone. The benefit isn't even activated off of healing effects. It is activated off of regaining hit points.

I would mention that earlier I did look at the Core, APG, Bestiary, and the PFC:Gods and Magic and posted by findings. That would likely be as close as not "too narrow" as one could get.

I also clarified that Infernal Healing does not work with Fast Healer and etc. I see that my efforts to avoid arguments based on completely invalid rules assumptions have been completely thwarted by some unseen force. Probably about three days ago.

I do feel that its silly (and probably bad, since its copyright material!) posting exact content for people who didn't bother to read it in the first place. Even more sillier than a bunch of people trying to answer rules questions without knowing the rules!

The Exchange

Fast healing provided by infernal healing doesn't give extra hp from fast healer. It functions normally with or without the feat.

I had to look through the core, APG, and the source that has infernal healing before having to guess correctly where the heck the rules for the non-feat fast healing.

Since no one has again bothered to put a page reference here they are for infernal healing and fast healing:

Gods and Magic PF Chronicles 7
Bestiary 300

Since I feel like trying my hand at GM rules interpretation, here's my spin.

A few things:

Fast healing(ex)or regeneration(ex)is neither magical healing or resting.

Just to recap the discussion; regeneration is magical healing as per the regeneration spell.

The fast healer feat is not magical healing, for you readers out there.

Remco Sommeling wrote:

I am aware of that, but if you think it through there really shouldn't be a difference. Even though fast healing (su) would be 'magical', making the distinction in itself is a load of hogwash to proof a RAW point, which I personally do not much care about.

There is no RAW point because the healing is not magical healing, it is through a feat. There should certainly be a difference between non magical and magical in a game system.

Remco Sommeling wrote:

Perhaps, but I think your definition of magical healing is different then the magical healing intended in the feat, though granted fast healing(su) is technically magical.

A 30 con isnt that hard to get, base con 18(16 base as a dwarf) rage +6 and a belt +6 physical attributes (con and strength prolly). Much easier if you play non standard races even.

You seem to be switching (Su) and (Ex) for the same feat, this is not very good for a rules discussion because they are two different things and such a definition should be very clear.

Now on to the OP: It wouldn't work because you don't have the prerequisite feats. Fast Healer has other feat requirements.

Resting will trigger fast healer regardless of having a ring of regeneration. Ring of regeneration does indeed heal 1 hit points a round. It triggers fast healer as the PC with the feat is regaining hit points through magical healing. The ring is also significantly high on CL so, it could be -hard- to purchase in the first place.

Its not really overpowered because there are two other feats as a prerequisite. That and a crafty GM could do bad things like having the ring of regeneration actually being a cursed item after it is implanted. I don't see how the feat should be underwhelming with prerequisites either.

Anyway since no one seems to present any page numbers of the rules/feats/items in this rules discussion, here they are for easy reference:

APG 160
Core 11-12, 122, 191, 331, 482, 520-521

What I meant, was that the treasure box would be in the same backpack as hardcovers, like in between APG and Core hardcovers.

I'm actually a GM on a budget, so I didn't spend money on a fancy GM screen. I just used some tape and a recycled 12x9x5 cardboard box for sale for a $2 screen. I don't think I could fit that in there either. ;)

I'm planning to laminate poster maps to use with a wet erase marker and would probably like something to contain lots of sheet of paper from printouts.

The Exchange

I'd like to know how thick the box walls are. Is it cardboard with paper or cardstock glued? I just want to know how sturdy and boxlike it is. What I need out of it is to survive a few rough trips with a -well made- backpack with associated pathfinder material (perhaps in the trunk of a car). This would be including hardcovers.

It seems odd to me that they should go from having to get Two Weapons like every one else to it being a manditory aspect that allows them to ignore the normal restrictions too. I'd honestly drop the Dex requirements to 10 or 12 (as well as similar stat requirements for other feats) instead.

Since it seems only the more scholarly types of samurai in fantasy did some dual wielding, change the requirements to an INT stat, like 14. This would distinguish the TWF samurai, the class itself from the ranger, and it is an easy enough requirement.

I think it is the better of compromises and works for low fantasy just as good as high fantasy.

New subscriber here.

Was trying to get the January current AP #5 / Godsmouth Heresy Module by subscribing last weekend/monday only to find out it was still in my sidecart. It it was waiting to ship on the next subscription shipment. I ordered it to be sent a few hours from this post. I kind of needed it to be shipped and active before the end of January, because I have yet to make due on my holiday promotion code with the subscription benefits yet. And I would need it too!

Otherwise I would have to cancel/suspend/modify the order (Module Subscription would still be kept, some items would be added).

Thanks for understanding.
