I know there can be some slow downs but that happens in software development specially when dealing with feature sets which you can estimate but that do not always cooperate.
Sunday my friends joined me to go play a TBD game at PFS. A fellow player and PFS enthusiast RT had come to play but took pity on us and ran Mists of Mwangi for us. I played my dwarven wizard from Cheliax. This was "Jumanji" and a dangerous "Night at the Museum" all rolled up into one. I really enjoyed this scenario, it was hard in places, and could be bit deadly in others if the entire party failed their rolls, but very rewarding. Paranoid players are going to have to remember at tier 1-2 not to over think things. Other than some RIDICULOUS spot checks required to find an item, the rest just requires you to use a calm rational approach. Course that's that's easier said than done, with dark mists full of crazies and poo flinging primates! I give this scenario a solid 4 out of 5 stars fun fun fun! Again thanks to RT (prolly stands for REAL TEXAN) for running this for us all.
Saturday Morning a friend and I went and played a Season 1 game called "Scenario #29: The Devil We Know—Part I: Shipyard Rats" run by a trooper of a GM named Steve who was going on 4 hrs sleep. The first two encounters do a great job lulling you into a false sense of security and the second encounter was a bit tougher but nothing the team couldn't handle. However the last encounter was DEADLY, if we had not had an extremely generous GM and huge amount of luck (in killing a powerful NPC in the second encounter), it would have been a TPK if we had not ran for the hills, kited the slower opponent and had a huge amount of luck with people being equipped just right. I am not sure what the writer was thinking as most players at the 1-2 tier level are new or not powerful enough to handle this kind of monster or even to know to run. Everyone survived thanks to some creative healing by myself and selfless sacrifices by several of my fellow players willing to go down for a bit so the monster could be kited by the cleric and defeated by the heavies. Although running was an option we had several players down and since pathfinders are supposed to be good ... no one would leave a man behind in good conscience specially since we are supposed to be there for another pathfinder. I give the game a 3.5 out of 5 it was well written and interesting but a bit too deadly for the tier 1-2.
I represent some great like minded Fantasy and Sci-Fi RPG fans who enjoy getting together once a week and playing Pathfinder in 3.75 Rules. We are a balanced RPG and combat group who want to see the story line move forward but like to kick a little but along the way. We currently have 3 players and are looking for a fourth or fifth players (if you come as a pair). I would like to not be any bigger than 5 as we are limited on time each week and I want everyone to get a chance to shine. I am open to people who can GM as well since I like to play and don't get to often. NOTE: If you have anger issues, short temper, drug or alchohol problems, are a rules lawyer, min/maxer or are here to dominate the game please do not apply, because you will be asked to leave. Everyone who plays with us is a professional non-slacker with wives, families and are fairly normal (other than playing RPG games). We are playing to RP and have fun in a fantasy setting. Since we hang out once a week we tend to become friends, that's an added nice side effect. All gaming group decisions are done by consensus, with GM (me or you if your running the game) with the final say. I have been GMing since first Edition when Gygax first started. I have run almost every system out there and found that Pathfinder RPG works best for my GM style and limited time to prepare. I like to play as well and am open to give anyone a shot at running a game. I have ran games of mostly girls, all boys and mixes in between which I hope speaks to the diversity of GM style but just could mean I am lucky! Currently I run a Tuesday night game open to all players and a weekend family game where our wives and family/friends play. |
