Human Dungeon Master GM 3

Okay, listen. I'm sure everyone of you is very busy; I am myself. But this campaign, I feel, has kind of lost momentum (we've even lost two of the original cast).
We got far, and you guys are great at this, but I think the reached its end.
So, alas, I think we'll stop. Keep up the role-playing!

~ GM Mandarin

P.S. - Use your imagination for the ending! :)

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

I'm guessing everyone's busy ...

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

Yes

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

Alriiiiiiiiight!
Begin

Sorry about it taking so long to post something.

Human Dungeon Master GM 3
Cilla wrote:
I think this means I attack the nearest creature, which would be...?

The robot thing.

Gonzo the Mad wrote:
Out of curiosity, what type of action is the fire gloves' fireball?

It's a standard action, normal attack. Just kamehameha ...

@Cilla: You don't need the d100 to shake off the confusion.

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

I'ma back. Continuing after a prolonged silence, but we can do it! I believe!

Round 4!

Cilla blinks her eyes as she sits up. Well, that was an interesting dream ..., only to find her acquaintances are facing a large, lanky robot with a strange triangular sigil on its chest. You can post action next turn, but you're still dazed, confused, and have to stand up ...

Meanwhile, just struck by the creature, Fillion lays prostrate. Gonzo throws what seems to be an explosive bomb. However, it simply breaks over Fillion, soaking into his skin and rejuvenating him.

Ashling, determined as ever, slashes at the metallic abomination, but her strikes just bounce off of its hide.

As a person would to a fly who just touched them, the construct takes a swing at Ashling, its would-be damager, with one of its bladed arms.

Robot Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

I know I've been asking this a lot but, is everyone still playing?
If you all are too busy with life, it's okay and we can postpone or, hopefully not, stop playing this particular game.

If you do choose the dreaded latter, then at least we had a good run. So, the choice is yours, and happy holidays.

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

The spider's needles retract into their metal abdomen's as they all transform. In the place of the 15-odd spider constructs is a metallic silver colossus, huge swords where hands would be. There is no face, since there is no head or neck.

Its legs are jointed in multiple places, and a golden triangle is painted on its chest and it charges at you.

Round 3 (Cilla still knocked out)
Ashling determinedly slashes at the robot, actually hitting home, but that doesn't stop it.

The tanglefoot bag that Fillion tosses at the silver giant sticks one of its arms to its side.

Gonzo's attempted attacks bounce off the tough metal hide of the creature as it still charges forward.

With its one functional arm, the construct takes a swing at the closest lifeform; Fillion.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Confirmation of Critical: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Damage: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

Okay, let’s get this show back on the road.

Round 2
Ashling smashes one of her blades into a spider. Without even a chance of surviving the strike, the construct shatters into even more scrap! Holy crap, that critical was way more than needed, but great.

Fillion, poised with his sword cane, takes a swing at a spider, and again misses.

Gonzo’s finely crafted grenade bounces off the metal carapace of a spider and flies somewhere into the distance. You can hear a loud ‘bang’ as it goes off in a pile of junk.

Same drill for spiders - The spiders stop. There are strange beeping noises in the air, and they crawl towards each other. From where the little robots stood, a strange form rises up out of the dust, a glint of metal glows in the orange-tinted sky of this strange world. ”And I’ll form the head!”

Cilla remains unconscious; slumbering in a deep sleep, dreaming of the little farm-disc Ingal.

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

Well, you guys have been good about posting, but I'm waiting for Walter and Oracion.
I'll post round actions after everyone is in

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

... is everyone still holding interest?

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

All of the attacking spiders' needles meet their marks. A strange blue liquid is emptied into the veins of the victims. After this happens, they all deactivate.

Everyone seems to fight off the effects of the liquid, except Cilla. After being injected with the strange serum the spiders hold in their syringes, she falls down, unconscious. Even though she is defenseless, the spiders don't attack her anymore.

10 more spiders come scuttling towards those that weren't knocked out.

Okay, post actions for Round 2

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

Okay, I'll just post this without Walter and Oracion.
Sorry I haven’t updated. Busy.
You can see around 20 spiders. Also, these don't count as animals; rather Constructs. Meh, either way

Round 1
10 of the metal spiders with glowing runes and hypodermic needles for heads move rapidly towards you.

The first to react is Fillion Rafael. As he draws the blade hidden in his cane, he says, "You had your chance to be friendly, little beasties. We'll still accept your surrender, though." He stabs at one, but the tiny thing just moves too fast, and the blade wildly bangs of a piece of metal.

Second to attack is the alert ranger Cilla, who deftly pulls out her bow and fires at random into the swarm. Her arrow zooms into the ground, stopping one in its tracks, but it soon moves around.

After Cilla, Ashling, better known to her friends as Phantom, expertly swings her sword as a spider creeps up near her. Unlike her companions before her, she hits the spider. It stands still for a minute, shaking. Then, it shatters into a hundred pieces to join the rest of the scrap metal.

With all of the adventurers attacking them, the spiders at last get in a little action of themselves. They attempt to bury their needles into the nearest humanoid they can find.
Spider 1 attack (Walter): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Spider 2 attack (Ashling): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Spider 3 attack (Gonzo): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Spider 4 attack (Oracion): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Spider 5 attack (Cilla): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Spider 6 attack (Fillion): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

If you are injected, then make a Fort. save (DC 16). If you save, then you are tired and take a -2 to attack and damage rolls. If you fail, then you are affected as if someone cast Sleep on you.

Finally, Gonzo gleefully swings his sword, threatening to make it into a souvenir, but it bites into the hard ground of this plane.

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

@ Cilla: Wow, Bangladesh? wow …
Still waiting for Walter …

Spider Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

You here a voice from the cat-sized metal robot spiders: "Dead or alive, you are all coming with us."
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1

They scuttle towards you, crawling up your legs (cue Linkin Park?), needles at the ready.

Talk amongst yourselves, roll init., go ham ... I am excited. Combat is fun.

Climb for spiders: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

When you reach the bottom of the metal staircase, Gi-Backa tosses down a little device and says, "Here are the coordinates to the Inquisition's HQ. Use it wi ... "

He is cut off because as you take your first step onto this plane, a metal pressure plate is set off by one of your footsteps. An antenna with a red light on top pops up out of the ground. A burst of light extends in all directions from the antenna as far as you can see. This closes the portal behind you.

Nothing seems to happen at first, but gradually, scraps of metal around you start to glow with mysterious runes and start to come together, forming minuscule, spider-like creatures.

They start to come towards you, scuttling at lightning speeds. Needles extend from a handful of the spider-creatures heads.

Ohboyohboyohboy! First instance of combat!

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

The splendor of the armory of the Inquisition overwhelms you. There's just so much to choose from! Fortunately, there is a table with a pyramid in the center of it with a button on the side.

When you press it, a display pops up. The first thing you see and hear is a flickering light come up from the point of the pyramid and the same female voice you heard falling through the portal. Next pops up an index of all of the weapons in the armory, from magic items to greatswords. To go to a certain category, you press it on the display. When you press on a weapon, a description of it appears, and when you press it again, that weapon materializes in front of you.

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

Alright, put some visuals of the Inquisition in Campaign Info :)

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

"Consider your selection from here our pre-reward for doing the job." Frigga says gruffly. "The lowest selection in here is 800 gold pieces. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be in the cafeterium." she says in a rush.

Feel free to browse any section and I'll put up a magic/special weapon

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

"Well, hags are natural magic-users, so they always hide behind their spells and illusions. We will teleport you using simpler teleportation this time. We know how it shakes you up. I can still remember my first time ... " Bruenor smiles, reminiscing in the past.

"Anyway, it's time to get you all suited up!" Frigga, the dark dwarf with brown hair, says.

The Armory:
As Frigga escorts you down a hallway that extends forward for about 250 feet, you come to a spiraled staircase with only a single stair.
"Please, step on." When you step on the single stair, it moves along the rails, creaking as it ascends all the way up until a large wooden door.

Frigga inserts a key into the lock. Gears turn and grind, and the door slowly opens.

On the other side of the door, there are an unfathomable amount of weapons, from swords and crossbows to chain mail and bucklers. You have to shield your eyes from the brilliance of the glow in the room. One sign to your left with an arrow says "Magical Accessories" and another points forward and right saying, "Mundane Items."

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

... Is anyone actually considering joining?

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

@Gonzo: You can try to blow them up ...
Cilla

You can't recall any hag activity on the discs other than sighting one on Zeehy.

"A good question, Walter. We can give you whatever you want, but not everything you want. We have a magnificent cache of weapons, many magical, or, if you'd like to the normal way, we can give you gold and silver for your troubles.

Pertaining to the prior discussed hag hunt, hags can be killed, but only by decapitating them, no special weapon included."

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

So yeah, hags are kind of like elementals, except, you know, not. There is an Ubercrystal for each type of hag owned by a Great Shaman hag. The seven Great Shamans form the Sordid Septet.

Heads up: you will be given the choice to join the Inquisition. (you won't expect it)
"Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

"Over, the years, hags have been reported to have been collecting object. But not just any ordinary objects: objects that could start an apocalypse, as detailed in the book of the Old One." Bruenor goes forht to say.

"We determine arcane misuse as magic that is detrimental to our universe. Certain magiks tear holes in the fabric of time and space: many spells of which the hags cast have had this effect. Another is something that, according to any religion, and we have recruited many, are signs of the end of existence itself. Surely, the Gods know about this threat, but only Sol and Lun have tried to prevent it so far."

Gi-Backa raises an eyebrow and smiles at Gonzo. " And I see you know our language, little one, lakin bu, eləcə də danışmaq olar. Nə qədər ağac bir Woodchuck chuck bir Woodchuck ağac chuck bilər bilər?"

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

"Hey, hey hey," Bruenor says. "Let's not be too hasty little girl. These are just an assurance that you don't attack us. We're valuable people that want to be left alive."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

"I'm very sure of that, Rafael," Gi-Backa says. "But Ms. Ashling, as the rest of you, needs to be restrained; if what you say is true, then even more so than the rest of you."

What they say:
"Now, we are a powerful organization," Bruenor starts, obviously proud of it. "We are dedicated to removing the misuse of magic, as Gi-Backa has probably already told you. Now, that doesn't mean we don't like magic, but it means we take it verrry seriously. And," he pauses. "We ... have a job for you. I'm not going to ask if you're up for the task because we need people with experience. There are too many newbies in our ranks."

"The job?" Gi-Backa picks up. "A hag hunt. Hags are, mysterious creatures, and we know that they have a nest on a faraway plane. We'll get you there as soon as you're ready."

"Hags," buts in Hathor (no pun intended), "Are not witches. They are creatures of pure magic and are the peoples who most misuse the arcane.
There are eight kinds of hags: mountain hags, sea hags, swamp hags, fire hags, ooze hags, air hags, and wood hags, and each kind have a gem that controls their respective element. Sea, blue turquoise, fire, red rubies, ooze, green emeralds, air, yellow beryls, wood, deep brown quartz, swamp, light green peridot, and finally mountain hags with clear crystals."

"Hags appear beautiful to humans, but are truly ugly in their real form."
Silence

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

Fillion's Perception result:

You see weapons of various types hung up on the wall. Shields are mounted on pedestals. But the most prominent feature of the room is the runes. Everywhere, runes are ascribed. On the floor, there are warding and trapping runes, a precaution against demons and angels.
On the wall there are runes that will fire fireballs at unwary invaders.

Everyone
Those that sit down, arms shoot out of the arms and legs of the chair. For those that don't, Gi-Backa pulls out another button contraption and pushes it. Metal scoops up over your feet.

"It's nothing personal. Really, this this just a precaution so you don't, you know, lash out. What we're about to tell you is a bit ... shocking.

"You already know me, Master Gi-Backa Al-Wazir, so let's introduce you to the rest of the Inquisition."

He goes around the table.

The Inquisition:

Female Giant - Ael-Tayan Or-Raz
Male Minotaur - Daedelus Bloodhorn
Female Minotaur - Hathor Bittercream
Male Human - Nicademus Cooper
Female Human - Charlotte Bejanne
Male Fengari - Cacaw Goldenbeak
Female Fengari - Quail Featherspell
Male Alabast - Kai Yammasu
Female Alabast - Alimar Salima
Female Dwarf - Frigga Silverspear
Male Dwarf - Bruenor Battlehammer

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

@ Fillion: I didn't see that. wasn't paying enough attention. Really sorry
Fillion

So far other than being bad hosts, the Inquisition don't seem that bad, from what you can tell, anyway. "As for you, Master Fillion, we promise not to waste too much time," the dark-skinned female dwarf replies sassily.
Gonzo

The male alabast says to you, "And for Gonzo, healing supplies, of course."

Ashling

"All questions will be answered in due time," Gi-Backa replies. "Now please, take a seat."

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

"No, I don't believe we've heard of you," the bovine man says.

Following Gi-Backa's entrance, the members of the organization stand and say, "Welcome to the Arcane Inquisition."

The male dwarf says and smiles, "Please, have a seat." and points to some chairs.

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

Gonzo is particularly graceful when he free-falls into the portal. After everyone jumps, Gi-Backa looks around, and jumps in after you.

Ashling
You look around you at a cozy room. A fireplace in a corner crackles happily and 11 figures sit at a table playing cards. A closer look reveals that there is a large, female giant, almost as intimidating as Gi-Backa, a male and female minotaur, a male and female fengari, a male and female human like yourself, a short and stubby dwarf and a slightly taller, slimmer female dwarf, and two lithe alabasts. All of them sport masks like Gi-Backa.
They turn and look at you.
"Ah, I see Gi-Backa has come back from his recruitment mission." the minotaur states.
"Hasn't brought a fine one in years!" laughs the human, as his female counterpart slaps his arm.
Make a reflex save to avoid getting hit by everyone else - DC 15

After falling:
You all pile up in the room, forming a heap of legs and arms ... and feathers.
[Acrobatics check for damage. DC 18: fail, you take full damage (3d6 - Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 1) = 8), pass you take half.]

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

As Ash acrobatically twirls through the air, a light spirals around her.
A magical swirl opens near the bottom and you hear a light, emotionless female voice say, Lifeform detected.
As Ash plunges headlong into the center, and she is gone.

"Next," says Gi-Backa, as if he is used to that.

@Cilla: I guess we'll assume that your horse was with you at the gates and therefore teleported with you

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

You can post reactions to whatever happened before this post, but what I post here is what happens after.

Swirling voices. Flashing lights. The sensation of falling into a pit.
These are all the sensations you feel.

As your molecules glue back together, you look around and notice that you are standing on the edge of a cliff.

"Here we are at HQ. All you have to do to go inside is jump." Gi-Backa urges you on. As you look down, a yawning cavern is all you see.
"Go on."

Fillion, methinks we should wait for the others to catch up

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

The rest of the party (sorry, I haven’t been posting for you guys much)
Back at the Tainted Toe, the other members of the party sit at the bar. In the back of your minds, you remember that there as an elf with you at your first meeting with Gi-Backa, and wonder where he went. As you sit at the bar, the barkeep brings you your orders. A bowl of assorted tree nuts sits lonely on the table. Other drunkards around you start falling down.
The bartender looks at you and says, ”Well, it’s closing time, people. One last call for alcohol, so finish your whiskey or beer”

Everyone should start to make their way to the city gates. The fun’s about to start … MWA HA HA!

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

"Well, I've got me coin, might as well tell ya the truth. I know nothin' o' the lass's past." He gulps and inhales jaggedly.
"I'm just a shop keeper who keeps to 'imself. Though, I do admit ta peepin' in her tent as she performs a spell, somatic components an' such."
Sighing, he says, "Now that I've robbed ya, good day ta ya."

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

"Ye've got yerself a deal!" he smiles. "I'll get the cashier fer ye."
He puts his pinkies to his lips and whistles. "Hey, Eugene!"
He ducks down beneath the counter and pops up with an apron on and a monacle.
"Right," he says with a different accent. "100 gold pieces it'll be. Good day to you sir."
The shop owner pops down and up again, back in his attire he had on before.
I'll post the conversation in a minute

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

"I might know something aboot her, but it'll cost ya a shiny gold piece. Are ya buyin' anythin'?"

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

The man jollily laughs. "Ha ha ha. Your a funny lad," he chuckles.
"You want those? Look a' ma prices! How much 'f ya got on ya?"
In the back of the tent, their is a board with the prices of the said items.
Acid - 15 gp.
Smelling salts - 30 gp.
Smoke sticks - 25 gp.
Tindertwigs - 6 gp.
Candlerods
- 6 gp.
"Oh and tha' Diana lass ye were talkin' aboot, I know nuthin' aboot 'er other than she just moved into town 'bout a week ago. She be a bonnie lass, she." He says this last part dreamily and stares into space.

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

Fillion
When you enter the alchemists tent, a loud BOOM! accompanies your entrance.
A burly, red-headed man stands up from behind a counter, his face covered in black soot, his eyebrows singed off. "Why, hulloo, thar, lad. Hoo may ah be 'f assistance ta yah?"

Are you other guys going to go to shops? Now's your time

This is amazing inter-PC dialogue. It really is, but I'm just going to speed things up a little. Heck, you can still talk amongst each other, but just on a higher gear.
This doesn't mean more posting requirements, btw

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

I posted the organization information in Campaign Info. None of you know this stuff until told.

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

Oh right:
You remember the seven pointed star is a teleportation rune, often linked to a conjuration rune.
"No, dinner first, information later," Diana says sternly. "Don't want to have you running off with information without a meal first."
And "Inside" was just for the inside of the tent

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

"Why yes dinner would sound fabulous, 'dashing hero'. How is the brothel you work at? I have a friend there."
She stops, and smiles. "Yes, I know all about you Fillion. My premonitions have revealed much information about you," she purrs in a strange accent.
"And, let me make it a ... condition ... that I'll give you the information about that stupid Gi-Backa, if you will go out to dinner with me."

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

After nosing around a little, you discover their is an informant near where you are: Diana's Divination Destination. You head towards the tent with a sign out front that corresponds to what the stranger said.
As you near her tent, you feel weak, as if your natural magical powers were drained out of you like a tapped tree.

Inside:

On the interior of the tent, there is a circle with a table at the center of it. A stunning woman with black, almost blue, hair, like midnight, sits on a chair at the table. The circle has a seven pointed star touching the edges of the circle.
As just a casual observation, you also realize that the tent has seven stakes for seven points.
You can make a Knowledge(Arcana) check to remember/learn what this means.
She opens her eyes and says, "Ah, Fillion Rafael. I've been expecting you."
She opens her eyes. They are a deep green with a yellow ring around the pupils. "How may I help you?"

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

Sorry, should've put that
US Eastern time zone

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

The awkwardly tall man leads you all out of the tent, nodding to people as he exits.
You wind through avenues, more like areas of deserts with no tents, with dust spewing up from the ground. The tent-less run across the "streets" with cloth covering their faces to offer as much protection from the erosive biting wind.
You all realize that you are heading towards the edge of the metropolis (mainly because of the signs).

This is your last time to visit any shops before you leave.

Human Dungeon Master GM 3

Gi-Backa gasps. "Two pretty ladies!"
He seems just plain dumb to you Fillion, but you get the feeling that Gi-Backa is going to tell you something very interesting when you do follow him.
"You will find out task when Gi-Backa tells you. If intrigued adventurers will now follow Gi-Backa: Gi-Backa on tight schedule"
