And midnight. Recuitement is now closed.

I'll give those of you who expressed interest the rest of the weekend to post a finished character, otherwise we'll just have to close this one and try again later.

I won't finish in time, I will have to bow out. Good luck everyone.

I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe one week was too short. If we don't have enough submissions, I may wait a little bit and repost the recruitment with a longer timeframe. If I do, I will PM everyone who has expressed interest.

Ok, so we are now six hours away from closing this recuitement and still only have three submissions. I may have to call this on lack of interest and try again some other time.

So, six (6) hours remaining to get in any last minute character submissions!

Sorry this took so long, we have three characters submitted and four others with expressed interest. Hopefully we'll pick up a few more players who are interested in a classic dungeon crawl.

I do have one comment for Enkidu: This will be a dungeon crawl, you will find it difficult to do a lot of riding. I know it seems fairly integral to the character, but I'm not certain how well it will work in play. I won't say it can't work, but it might cause some issues.

Tara, you're welcome to make your submission anyway with more than four openings there is room for overlapping roles.

Submitting my application as Davro Iramelis, level 4 Hunter with Variant Multiclass Barbarian. The following is a rough stat block of Davro, I still have a few hundred gold to spend and haven't decided entirely on the feat choice. Davro's trusty sidekick Doraga the badger is also not included, as I have a question pertaining to the use of the Automatic Bonus Progression ruleset. Will animal companions/familiars also be following the chart? In my previous iterations of this character I spent almost half of the allotted gold on Doraga as he was very important to not only the crunch of this character, but also the background(Which I'll have up tomorrow). I'm just hoping his AC and Con won't lag behind without magic to boost them.

** spoiler omitted **

Ok, after a bit of research, here's the solution I'll be going with:

If your class has a permanent companion such as an Eidolon or Animal Companion, you can choose to transfer any of your bonuses individually to your companion. (For example, if you're level 7 you could give your companion +2 strength and +1 resistance bonus, and keep +1 resistance bonus and the full amount of all other bonuses for yourself.) If you have a bonus that could be split normally (for example +2 Resistance), you may split that bonus between you and your companion. Odd bonuses would split to two even bonuses (for example, a +3 bonus would split to two +2 bonuses instead of a +2 and a +1).

To everyone else, here's the list I have so far, please let me know if I've missed anything or anyone.

  • Enkidu, Male CG Human dual-cursed Oracle of Nature
  • Tippy, Male TN Halfling uRogue

I'll look over your submissions and give commentary if applicable in the next 24 hours.

The following people have expressed interest:

  • Corsario, Kineticist
  • Dalgar the Great, Changling Witch
  • Tara Ravenheart, Human warrior
  • Arachnofiend, Occultist
  • Alistus
  • zomblisham

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Will Variant Multiclassing be available for use?

I'll say yes. You won't get much from it at this level, but it can add some depth to a character concept.

    Interested, what about occult classes?

I want to test drive a Kineticist.

Occult classes are fine. I'd also like to see how one plays.

Many years ago, a merchant named Alagoran lived in the local village of Roderic's Cove. Thanks to his shrewd mind, he became filthy rich through many business deals with distant races; some were simply good deals, others more questionable. As time went on, he began to grow increasingly suspicious of others, worried they would steal his wealth. After a break-in whilst away resulted in the loss of thousands of gold worth of treasure, Alagoran decided it was best for him to keep his wealth upon his person, where he could always keep an eye on it. He searched far and wide for an investment which could be safely carried with him, wherever he may go, and one day, at the entrance to an old cave system not far from his home, he met a strange dwarf. The dwarf brought forth a gemstone to trade for the man's silver, gold, and platinum. After having the huge gemstone carefully inspected and appraised, Alagoran agreed to the trade, naming the gem "Alagoran’s Gem".

Rumors quickly spread of Alagoran and his rare gem, bringing scoundrels and treasure-hunters from all corners of Golarion to watch the merchant and his stone, and worse. Alagoran quickly realized he had to do something about it, and sold his mansion in town, intent on getting away for good. Using the money to hire the best masons and trapsmiths in the land, Alagoran located the small cave entrance where he had met the dwarf years before and began work building a vast dungeon. The structure would be an impenetrable vault and every nook and cranny would be filled with traps to protect his wealth. After years of living amid the construction, the dungeon was complete. Finally Alagoran would be left alone.

    --------------------------------------------

Here it was that Alagoran lived for many more decades, continuing to amass his riches from his existing trading agreements. A single local merchant made the journey to the dungeon once per month to drop off food and packages, meeting Alagoran outside. No one knows exactly how Alagoran died, but one day he stopped showing up for his monthly meetings, never to be seen or heard from again. Within the year, there were rumors of the vast treasure within Alagoran’s Dungeon and the rare gem which must be hidden deep within.

I’m looking for 4-6 players interested in a classic style dungeon crawl. By classic style I mean Gygax-ian first edition dungeon crawl. To better understand what I'm talking about, please read this.

  • About Me:

I've been playing some variety of paper and pencil, face to face, RPG since the early 90's. Since about 2000, I have primarily been the GM for our weekly game. Unfortunately, life has grown complicated as gaming groups get older and our regular weekly games have become monthly games, then as schedules get crowded we wind up skipping months. Our last session was almost 8 months ago. So I've started playing PbP games here. Now it is time to share the wealth and pass on the good favor I have received, and start GMing. This is my first PbP GMing experience. I have a homebrew sandbox campaign I'd like to run, but I'm going to run a few modules first to get the kinks out.

Submission updated with more complete background.

    Background:

Janice Leigh was born in Augusta, Georgia in the late 60's. She had always been a little bookish, a big disappointment to her father. She grew up on Fort Gordon army base. Her father was an instructor there. She had a fairly normal childhood. Unfortunately she was never able to be the tomboy that her father wanted, nor the beauty queen that her mother dreamed of. She was short, nearsighted, slightly overweight, and just all around mousy. Her greatest achievement before graduating high school was earning her first class award.

Eventually she went away to university, studying library sciences. One of her boyfriends while at college was a big war gamer. He was just just getting into a new variant of one of his games. This one included more adventuring and a little less straight fighting. She sat in on a few games before they broke up. While bored there she would read through the manuals. In her head she would make characters out of some of her favorite literary figures. After they broke up, she never really thought about it again.

After graduation, she got a job at the university library. She worked there for about 30 years until one morning she woke up in a pitch black room with the words Please select race and class hanging in the air. She asked for a manual and the system gave her enough information to put together the sort of thing she wanted.

Here is the submission from Demon Lurking. I still need to finish typing up the background. Short version is that Janice is a reference librarian who's boyfriend back in college used to drag her to his tabletop gaming sessions. She remembers reading through the books when she got bored (her bf and friends weren't very good roll players). She doesn't have much imagination, but she's read a lot. She quickly found the help page and figured out how to make a better version of herself (all Mary Sue).
