Fuu did not choose to come to Sandpoint, that was her mother’s decision, though she had little choice in the matter being 4 at the time. She did not hold it against her mother though as that was where she met her best friend Ameiko (though she was older than Fuu.) Unfortunately it was only 2 years after their arrival in Sandpoint that her mother was killed, by bandits or goblins was never made clear. Her mother’s last words to her were “You have a destiny my child, a destiny that will take you far from here and return you home. Stay close to you friend, protect her, her destiny is greater than you can imagine…” Full of sorrow Fuu was directionless and was sent to Turnadok Academy as she was only 6 at the time and had no other family in Sandpoint. It was only a few days later that Dai came for her. He was likely a man from the same lands Fuu and her mother hailed from, his features said as much. He said he had made an oath to her mother to care for and to teach her how to protect herself and those she cared for. He would not speak of his relationship with her mother and all he would saw of his past is that he “was a different man then.” There was always a deep sadness in his eyes when Fuu asked of such things, in time she simply stopped asking. Dai taught Fuu the way of stealth and shadows, of blade and blood. An unorthodox upbringing to be sure, when Fuu asked him why he taught her such things his reply was that was all he knew to teach her. That and fireworks, Fuu loved fireworks and relished the time spent learning the alchemical recipes to starcandles and skyrockets. It was just last year that Dai passed. Now 19 Fuu wonders… ‘What is the destiny that my mother said awaited me and Ameiko?’
