Fist manages not to stare at the exquisite, but her surprise and wonder shows. Still, she is a warrior in battle, and speaks as one. "We can save all the treasures... Galatean? There is no reason to leave anything we can carry. Scrolls, altar cloths... priestesses." The Sekhmeti grins. "And we are not looting. We'll bring it all back. Someday."
@Nylissa, with @Ali further down Nylissa wrote: @ Fist, I know the 2H shield power attack without losing the AC bonus is legal RAW. I was really just making a fluff remark, that I can't picture what it looks like. I expect that from behind the shield, it looks a lot like the back of the shield. And from in front of the shield, it looks like the front of the shield, suddenly really close up. :) From a more third-person view, I expect it's batting away warding weapons, bringing the top UP, into the enemy's jaw, then angled in and DOWN for the vitals, and then RIGHT, into his shield arm, then down again for his right knee, and (why not?) UP! again... Or it's a full-body lunge with shield up, perhaps. Not so much 2H as in 'using two hands' but still 2H as in both that powerful and that limiting of the other hand's options. Which brings up the gimped hand. Please feel welcome to disallow weapons use with that hand. And if that includes 2H-ing the shield, so be it. I don't know when the narrative will support the return of full function, but I'm willing to trust the narrators. @Ali, Yes, Sword and Shield is the weapons style from Ranger, intending Shield Slam at 2nd level, and repeatedly shoving enemies back into reach weapon range, which Fist can't take advantage of, but others could. I will look at Ranger Archetypes. Freebooter intrigues, but I'll give your cocktail a look.
@Nylissa, RAW shield can two-hand, RAW shield loses AC when attacking with it, but Feat:Improved Shield Bash ("which I have!" /Inigo) keeps AC when attacking. I just try to flag the synergies I see, because surprising synergies often smell like cheese, and owlbears love the smell of cheese. @Brennos, sounds glorious. A squad of coordinated fighters(read: attentive players), with added Tactician frosting? More, please. @Variel, hey, _somebody_ has to be sniping the mage while we're engaging the frontline. (And distracting him from the Hermean Hamstringer...)
Ali, or any, much text: Fist is headed for 3 levels of shield ranger, and then we'll see. 3 level of phalanx fighter (with the hand healed by then) is SOoo ancient world, might be that next. I could also see work on Sekhmet leading to Cleric or Oracle (or Tovenaar?). But in any case the RP has locked in: gimped hand, shield as primary weapon. At least for now. @Ali: go right ahead, audit my crunch. Thinking Power Attack for the open feat (large shield can two-hand, yes?), and Humans as Favored Enemy (vis: Sekhmet). A couple skill points still to spend, considering Dance and Dip as out-of-class but correct for a martial order that see themselves as charged with partying and fighting to a destroyer goddess sleeps on...
"The Gods are always watching.", the Sekhmeti adds. "And sometimes, they are laughing. If you want to stay and fight, the enemy is that way. If you want to stay and shepherd or ward whoever's next, then help me get the wise priestess over my shoulder, because if you're both shepherding, then she doesn't have to. And it won't damage her manhood, to be bundled off like a fool." Fist tries to scoop the priestess into a fireman's carry, and leave.
.oO{Faithless Hellenic... steady your heart and aim. May the Gods steady us all.} "I am glad you are here, bowman, and I will thank your feet and the Gods as well. We follow the priestess, though we might walk first. She had some plan..." Nylissa: 1. A short sketch of your character's backstory.
Sekhmet is a lion-goddess, once charged with punishing humanity. She loved it so much, and was so good at it, that to stop Her, She had to be tricked with barrels of wine that tasted like blood. Now She sleeps. I would have the Swords of Sekhmet an order of warriors dedicated to keeping Her slumbering dreams rich and pleasant, that She might sleep on. They fight nobly, savagely, live well, and die well. This was one of those Swords. She would have happily died in the battle, but awoke here in the temple after falling in the running battle outside. 2. What do you want from a GM in a PbP, and from other players? That's two questions. :) But I think we all want an artful audience, and a place to be cool. A stage to sing from, and when we take our turn in the chairs below, some grandeur to observe. It's very much a karaoke bar, except we write the songs, too. 3. What do you do for fun when you're not on the Paizo boards? Fun time is mostly here. Half of Sunday is face-to-face Pathfinder. (have to go get that ready, in fact!) 4. A taste of your writing. The scene is set, up at the top of the page: respond. For bonus points, respond to each other's responses. Just a bit of roleplaying, with no rolling needed. Nothing specific about your character needs to be defined by numbers, but give an idea of who they might be. I'm headed toward a shield-only fighter here, although I'm blind on the mechanics side of it just yet, only know I've seen threads of how to do it, and comments that it's a very fun build to play and GM. If that turns you off, give Fist half a chance to die well, and she'll take it. [i]5. I'm considering using the mythic playtest rules for this, more because it seems fitting than because I'm all that crazy about the rules, but I'm still up in the air. Any thoughts are welcome. [i] Mythic rules are unknown to me, have not read any of that yet. If your intent is to us them, I can go study up. I do prefer not to build on sand, so 'playtest' scares me more than 'mythic' enthuses. I'll adapt, if we're otherwise all having fun. |
