Heyo!

I'm thinking of perhaps playing a monk or some flavour of occult class. I just need to know what the CharGen rules will be.

It's a combination of previous Chaotic Stupid nonsense regarding evil characters, personal reluctance to be evil even in a tabletop game and a major dislike for House Thrune for me.

Here are my thoughts:

Iron Gods: I love this AP. I love how different it feels compared to lots of other APs that Paizo has published.

Hell's Rebels: I like the idea of this AP. I even have a character from a previous game ready to use.

Hell's Vengeance: No.

Strange Aeons: I'm not a huge Lovecraft fan, so I'm afraid I'll give this one a pass.

War for the Crown: Could be into it. Not entirely a huge fan of Taldor, but hey, at least it's not Cheliax for once.

Tyrant's Grasp: I only glanced at its store page, but it said that the adventurers start off dead. Well, my interest is certainly piqued.

My first pick would be Iron Gods, but after giving the Player's Guide for War of the Crown a look-over, I think I'd be down for it too.

Well, it was fun while it lasted.

Thank you very much for putting in as much effort as you did to make it work. I had a lot of fun playing Fiona and I think she's earned her retirement. :)

As to where to go from here... well, if it's something you're fine with, I'd love to give Iron Gods a go.

Yasraena approaches her gecko with confidence, making a few soothing noises.

Would I be able to use my Animal Handling skill to guide my gecko to where I need to go?

Yasraena lets the others lead the investigation for now.

"Drider den, indeed."

"That would be much appreciated." Yasraena gives the drider a polite nod.

She then glances over to Varelle. "See to him, would you?" She points to Zov's injuries.

Yasraena observes the proceedings with a detached calm that masks her sheer fright at the sight of the First Daughter's powerful magics.

"We won't." She replies to the Second Daughter before turning to the drider.

*ahem* "Now, you were saying, before we were so rudely interrupted?"

Yasraena keeps singing and swinging her hammer!

Yasraena blinks and nods at the... spider-drow.

"My companion is correct--we understand there has been a spate of disappearances among the drider workforce of House Vonnarc. We're investigating this matter."

Likewise. I'm up for hitting up the ballroom.

'Yasraena' looks down at the offered ring and takes it. "Very well."

She then slips the ring on. "One more question--where might I find Paingiver Drovoanis?"

I had to go back in the posts a bit to make sure I remembered what we're after--information on Team Azrinae and what their plans are.

"You've been on the surface too long. Allevrah is matron now, and has seized the house for herself and gathered a second army, abandoning this place. Where she goes to, nobody knows."

'Yasraena' briefly arches her eyebrows, but otherwise offers nothing other than a "Hmm." of understanding.

"So your matron sent you on Azrinae's inane surface adventures. You are now here, and want control of your house, and offer Vonnarc a thousand soldiers. What exactly do you want from us?"

"I thought what I wanted was obvious." 'Yasraena' purses her lips. "I want House Vonnarc's support when the time comes for me to assume my rightful place as House Zauviir's matron."

"...and one other thing, just for me." She grins wickedly. "I would love to know where Allevrah has scampered off to--so I can track her down and bring her head to Mother dearest before I smash hers in."

Warning--it's a wall of text!

'Yasraena' smirks on the inside as the priestess' eyebrows arch in surprise.

"What does Vonnarc gain from this alliance, and what do you want with us?"

"House Vonnarc gains the expertise of an experienced negotiator, along with a crew of professionals skilled in the application of force and guile--and they will undoubtedly prove quite useful when it comes to discreetly solving sensitive problems." She gestures to herself and the other three 'drow' with her. "This is effective immediately--should our partnership prove fruitful, House Zauviir is prepared to offer a battalion of 300 of our finest soldiers, to be deployed on missions of House Vonnarc's choosing."

"As to what I want?" 'Yasraena's' expression darkens and her tone turns venomous and resentful. "Mother would have me be yet another sycophant, plied with all manner of licentious pleasures and waiting on her every whim. She has become complacent; too... content with her position. I plan to take her place as head of House Zauviir."

"Where does Zauviir stand in Far Paratha, how many soldiers do you command?"

"House Zauviir is the second of five Houses of Far Paratha, and at last count we command at least 1,000 soldiers. We control most of the arable land around Far Paratha, and by extension, the city's food supply. Whether the people fear us or hate us, they all eat from the palms of our hands... so to speak."

"Why Vonnarc and not another house? What do you know of us?"

"Because House Zauviir is quite fond of competence. It's a rather novel concept that I'm hoping will catch on." 'Yasraena' smirks for a moment.

It soon disappears. "As to what I know of House Vonnarc... I understand your House and Azrinae were once close allies. But then Azrinae's leadership changed, from that of an intelligent, powerful matron to her weak-willed embarrassment of a daughter. Then they snubbed you, breaking the carefully-woven alliance between the two houses. All at the behest of the newly-crowned 'matron's'--" She snorts in derision. "--pet, Allevrah."

"Gadak says you came from the surface, what happened there and how did you join Azinrae's army?"

"Mother sent me to them." She growls, visibly holding back an outburst of rage. "I would have had our House align with yours from the beginning, but nothing could dissuade my mother--there was something about Allevrah that captured her heart, even when her better judgment was telling her otherwise."

"Suffice to say, the surface elves threw themselves at the Azrinae army and fought like men with nothing left to lose. The commander was conducting some manner of arcane ritual in the heart of their ancient city--one that seemed to hearken back to Earthfall, come to think of it." She glances over at 'Jokril' as if seeking confirmation.

"What is the status of Nolveniss Azinrae, the commander of the expedition?"

"Dead. The surfacers cut their way through his guards and breached his sanctum, killing him while he was conducting his ritual. They suffered heavy losses doing so, but once Nolveniss was slain, his forces started to desert or turn on each other, seeing an opportunity to settle old scores."

Throughout the exchange, 'Yasraena' gauges the priestess' reactions to everything she says, trying to determine whether she's more interested or threatened by their presence.

Sense Motive?: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (15) + 23 = 38

"We hail from Far Parathra." 'Yasraena' replies, pursing her lips and putting on an air of calm stoicism.

"And I am here because House Vonnarc is the only house worthy of Zauviir's allegiance."

Actually, I would like to ask about Far Parathra instead of Umberweb.

After consideration, I think I'm going to ask about Far Parathra instead of Umberweb.

...so, would that be a good or a bad thing? I'm starting to lean toward Far Paratha if Umberweb's not a good choice...

That could certainly work...

Well, I think I can still make Umberweb work, but I'm open to other ideas.

...I just looked at my character sheet and remembered I had the Lore Master class feature.

Now I REALLY wish I remembered having it sooner.

I miscalculated my bardic knowledge bonus last post: it was supposed to be +4 instead of +5. Also, considering how important this check is, I'm going to use my Lore Master class feature to take 20 on a Knowledge (Local) check relating to Umberweb for a total of 34, if allowed.

Otherwise, I'll take 10 for a total of 24. I REALLY wish I remembered that class feature sooner.

These are perhaps the highest-stakes lies I've ever had to tell in a Pathfinder game. I'm under no illusions as to what'll happen if I screw it up for all of us.

'Yasraena' puts on an air of calm and stoicism.

"Zirnakaynin. And I am here because House Vonnarc is the only house worthy of Zauviir's allegiance." She wrinkles her nose.

"I imagine Gadak told you many things."

Taking 10 for Bluff: 53 total because I think Good Hope's worn off.

For future reference, would I be allowed to take 10 on Bluff checks while we're down here unless told otherwise?

Before the meeting, I’ll cast Glibness on myself again.

'Yasraena' rises and nods. "Then she will have it. Lead the way."

She puts on a mask of emotionless nonchalance.

'Yasraena' wrinkles her nose. "Good. I have a feeling we'll need some allies at some point..."

Well, 'Yasraena's' clever enough to get the party INTO trouble, at least.

Out of it again... that's yet to be determined.

Once the party has been shown to their rooms, 'Yasraena' takes a look around hers.

"Go ahead." She whispers in reply before entering her room and closing the door behind her.

Once the door closes, she leans against it and lets out a shuddering sigh. Her hands are trembling like mad, and her heart is beating like a drum. She takes several rapid breaths in a futile attempt to calm down.

This was a bad idea. This was a bad idea. This was a bad idea and I'm going to get us all killed. Or worse.

...I need an outlet. I need something to cope.

"What is your station within the House Zauviir? I can then determine which of our house you're best set to seek an audience with."

'Yasraena' pointedly ignores 'Varelle's' sarcastic remark.

"The first-born daughter." 'Yasraena' shrugs. "Mother was quite insistent."

'Yasraena' straightens herself up. "House Zauviir is a house immersed in the many ways of war--soldiering, magical studies, and the art of building alliances." She pointedly looks the slavemother in her eyes, a smirk starting to creep into her lips.

"House Vonnarc's deeds have reached our ears, even from away. We would benefit from an alliance with such a superior force."

'Yasraena' puts on a show of acting indifferent to the many horrifying sights of Zirnakaynin. Inside, she feels as utterly revolted as she's ever been.

...I'm starting to feel we've made a terrible mistake.

When the party reaches the slavemother, 'Yasraena' stands up straight. "We were part of the battle of Celwynvian. We left countless surface elves bloodied, broken and slain, but we were forced to retreat when Nolveniss fell."

"I am Yasraena of House Zauviir."
