Having kind brown eyes, brown shaggy hair, a dark brown scraggly beard, and a rugged complexion, Fennik gives the impression of being slightly unkept with an easy going good nature. While his hide armor shows obvious signs of wear, it looks to be well kept. He speaks softly, walks with a light step, and always moves to keep his back to a wall and as many entrances as possible in his line of sight. He hates being surprised. He is quick to lend a helping hand but has a general disregard for the law believing that rigid adherence to a set of rules is the result of a lazy intellect. Fennik prefers indirect confrontation whenever possible, particularly traps. This isn't to say that he is cowardly, he merely seeks an advantage at all times.
Native to south Brevoy, just north of the Stolen Lands, the increased banditry has become a significant concern for Fennik. His fellow trappers and hunters are being harassed and stolen from as well as the traders he sells his furs to. In frustration Fennik decides to travel to Restov to ask for help with the bandit problem. Along the rode he comes across the remains of a recent bandit attack of a merchant convoy. Searching the bodies he finds one survivor and uses all his skills to bring him back to health. Having recovered, the man reveals himself to be Lord Gaston, a minor noble of the Lebeda family. Fennik decides to escort Lord Gaston to Restov and relate to the Lord his concerns about the bandit problem; a problem Lord Gaston has just found reazon to address himself. Returned home to Restov, Lord Gaston rights a letter of introduction to Lord Alystair declairing that Finnek's familiarity with the local area and general woodsmanship will be invaluable to any foray into the Stolen Lands.
Letter of Introduction:
Lord Alystair Boehnre, Aldori, 3rd of Boehnre, 27th of Rostov, Scion of Brevoy,
I write to you at the behest of one Fennik Valorn, resident of south Brevoy along the border to the Stolen Lands. He has had some experience with the bandit problem you seek to address, as have I. Indeed, in my recent venture south my convoy was set upon. Left for dead, my fate sealed had Fennik not found me among so many other corpses, I was nursed to health and escorted home to Restov. On my honor, I request that your Lordship contemplate bestowing upon Fennik your Favor, that he should return with aid to secure the roads south of Brevoy, and further into the Stolen Lands that the bandits might know the fear and mercy of the Gods.
Yours respectfully,
Lord Gaston, scion of Lebeda
Friends and Enemies:
Fennik leads a generally solitary existance except for the occasional visits to his sister Juliette and her husband and children. He teaches his nephews how to make simple traps, how to prepare game animals for cooking, and where the best herbs to season the food grow. As for enemies, basically every bandit in the Stolen Lands. I'm sure with a little work an arch-nemesis can be revealed by using the sister and family, but I leave that up to the GM and live in dread of the eventual trauma.
