Shameless bump, because this flew off the front page really fast.

Fixed the link. Stupid spaces.

I'm going to be giving 4e a fair try, and converting my current 3.5 Age of Worms campaign to it.

The thing that has me most concerned is that I have a Monk player(and a Bugbear Monk at that - at least Bugbear is a playable race in the MM already). He's stated that it's fine with him if that character leaves the party until an official Monk class comes out, but I'm trying to think of other options.

Now that I finally have the books, looking at the 4e Ranger class has me thinking that with a bit of tweaking, a 2 weapon Ranger would make not a bad Monk. There are some nice exploits that grant some good battlefield movement, and plenty of powers that play off the character's Wis score.

I also am fairly keen on some of the Pathfinder Monk abilities, like the Ki pool, and all the nifty things Monks can use it for.

Is anyone else working on a homebrew 4e Monk?

I found this novel in the 'new acquisitions' section on my local library's website, and had not heard of it anywhere before.

I'm halfway through reading this, and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys China Mieville's books.

It's rocking good Steampunk fantasy in an alternate universe corner of London gone horribly wrong.

Even though it's way more steampunk than Eberron, there are elements I may just steal and adapt for my Eberron game, or come to think of it, I could certainly see myself running a game in this universe.

Has anyone else read this?

A simple little game that has me hooked.
It's in free open beta right now.
I don't know if I would pay to play it, once the beta ends, but I'm enjoying it right now.

No need to download anything, it plays in your browser using Flash. Sign up, choose a character type. Fight.

The fights play out like extended rock-paper-scissors at first, but as your character levels, it starts to become more and more complex.

If anyone joins, Evilturnip the Sorceress (I thought I would be able to use a different name for my character, but it uses whatever you choose as your login) will take on any comers!

These little guys look great!

Definitely WANT!

First of all, congrats to the 12 finalists, and I'm seriously proud of you.

Secondly, I've been away from the boards for a month or two, and completely missed any mention of the open call, so I cried a little inside to see that the first round was already over. I guess without upcoming issues of Dungeon-specific discussion, I've been lurking and posting less, and I've noticed I'm not the only one.

I love and appreciate the emails I get about new products at the Paizo store, and that does drive me back to the website every week or two. I'm wondering if automatic email messages for open calls can be sent out, too.

I know I should just subscribe to the Paizo blog RSS, but I haven't found a pain-free way to get RSS into my daily routine yet. Running a separate aggregator app seems like a pain, and I really don't want scrolling news feeds in a browser bar....

Anyway, enough grumbling about technology. That's not what I came here to do. Keep up the great work, all, and I'll see you at the next open call!

I tried to post this and resurrect the thread, but that died on me too, so I'm starting a new thread with a similar title.

How's the computer/graphics card coming along, Grim?

I'm hoping that the idea of playing by post hasn't died too?

I've got a halfling barbarian/fighter in my Eberron game who rides a clawfoot dinosaur.

I'm thinking of tinkering around a bit with the barbarian class, retroactively tweaking it to let his mount be his animal companion. Later, he would likely take levels in the Wild Plans Outrider PrC, from Complete Adventurer.

What would be a good thing to remove from the barbarian's ability list to allow an animal companion, (specifically a CR2 animal companion?)

The simplest thing I can think of is removing the barbarian's Fast Movement ability from level 1, and scaling back the Clawfoot to CR 1, Savage Species-style, then letting the clawfoot advance as a normal animal companion.

A couple of class-altering guides I have read have equated a One Time Ability like Fast Movement with having an animal companion...It seems a little unbalanced to me.

I'd prefer to leave the clawfoot with its base CR2 stats, though.

Hey all.

What book has details on Kenku, specifically racial adjustments for making characters?

After reading through "The Weavers" (more fantastic Styes, Mr. Pett!) and looking at other kenku-happy threads, I'd like to see what they can do.

I remember reading a lot of threads on the topic of swarm creatures back when the first AoW adventure came out.

After encountering a spider swarm in a recent play session, one of my players suggested another attack that might be able to deal damage to a swarm of small critters - a shield bash.

Luckily it didn't come up in game so I didn't have to come up with a rule, but what do people think? If the shiele were large enough, could a character squish a respectable number of them with his shield, and do some damage to the swarm?

After seeing the topic on "Savage Tide-styled Character Sheets" I thought I'd ask.

What's everyone's favourite type of character sheet?
3-hole punch lined paper?
A photocopy from the PHB or pdf download from Wizards.com?
An Excel Sheet you made yourself?

I'm pretty fond of Green Ronin's Character Record Folio, myself.

I'm thinking of putting this adventure from #108 in my campaign. I realize it's from a while ago so some people might not have access to it, but I was going through my back issues looking for cool and different stuff to try.

Has anyone run it? How about with groups of more than 4? I have 6 in my group and was just going to rotate two players out per puzzle, and rotate them back in, making sure that nobody is out for more than one in a row.
