Here's Whack's second character.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Sandpoint works for me. Some downtime RP will help me get into Etienne's head (I've barely been able to do anything in this game due to RL funness).

Human Fighter (archer) 3

I HAVE INTERNET AGAIN!!! It'll take me a little while to catch up on everything that's happened in all my campaigns, but I plan to begin making meaningful gameplay posts tomorrow. :-)

Human Fighter (archer) 3

This is a heads-up to all the games I'm in right now. My wife and I are in the process of moving, and the official day is July 28th. Due to all the packing/traveling/getting setup craziness, my posting will be slow to nonexistent for a little bit. Feel free to bot me as needed.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Aiming carefully, Etienne loads a bolt and fires at the Yeth Hound.

Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 (PBS + Marksman specialization)
Damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 (PBS)

If the Yeth Hound was already downed, I'll fire at Nualia.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 (+2 vs. spells/SLA/enchantments)

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Etienne casts mage armor and draws his crossbow.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Hello everyone! How/when do we want me to enter? I'll put up my first Gameplay post whenever everyone's ready (but most likely tomorrow during my work break). I'm looking forward to be working with everyone. :-)

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Yes, I'll hold onto the longbow for the time being. If anyone wants my original weapon (regular longbow), feel free to grab it.

Etienne smiles gratefully as Sjora's healing touch permeates Isabeau. Taking the first CLW (unless someone else needs it more; Etienne would wait until right before bed to ask for help). "My thanks, Sjora. I am in your debt."

The priest's healing surge leaves Etienne feeling as good as new in the morning. Seeing Isabeau none the worse for wear, he smiles happily.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

"Silver arrows. Interesting...." Etienne muses thoughtfully. "Hopefully the cultists aren't recruiting werewolves...."

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Back now, guys. Sorry for the long delay. When you first enter a long-term relationship, Pathfinder kinda takes a backseat.

"No kidding!" Etienne chimes in. He reaches out toward one of the wrapped packages. "May I?"

If allowed Perception to examine the contents 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Hey, sorry I haven't been posting for a while. I'm still on, but the current game status + crazy awesome real life stuff means not a lot of time for PbP right now. I'm not dropping out by any means, just wanted to reassure everyone that I'm still here.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Etienne did ask it for Isabeau. He'd appreciate healing for himself but is doing the strong macho man thing. :-)

Human Fighter (archer) 3

"Thank you for the offer, Sjora, but I'll be fine. It'll take more than a few scratches to stop me. If you have any magic left after you heal the others, though, I'd be grateful if you could tend to Isabeau."

Human Fighter (archer) 3

"I don't think that's a problem. We'll be rested, healed, and - most importantly - it'll be daylight. The dark forces will be less powerful."

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Yeah, Rufon, I'd been thinking along similar lines for some reason.

"I don't know anything about opening locks, but you might be able to bypass it entirely. Try taking the hinges off."

Human Fighter (archer) 3

While the others are searching through the junk piles, Etienne takes a few moments to repair his bowstring. Blast! That doesn't happen very often. Oh well, no harm done. And it looks like Isabeau's doing a little better. Sjora's proving to be a women of many skills.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Isabeau's back up to Disabled now. Thanks. :-)

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Well struck, friend!" Etienne exclaims to Rufon. Etienne looks confused as the creature's body disappears, but this quickly passes - he has more important things to worry about. He returns to Isabeau and carefully wipes the creature's gunk off of her. "I don't know about you, but we've had enough for tonight. We should retire and come back in the morning. Besides," he adds as he looks sadly at the hawk, "we've taken casualties."

Isabeau's stable at -2HP, so I'm good to go as long as there's someplace safe to leave her. Or we can head back out and hunt down that friendly cleric from earlier.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

@GM: It's entirely GM fiat. I don't know of an official ruling on Knowledges. I don't mind either. I've been enjoying trying to identify the monsters based on the given description, since it's what our characters would be doing anyway. I have a guess for this guy, but the Channeling's throwing me off. :-)

Immediately before Duraelo's spell
Etienne fires again as the creature flies back out of the darkness.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6
EDIT: Fumble Confirmation: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

EDIT: So, what are the fumble rules for this campaign? Hopefully I didn't decapitate myself with an arrow. ;-)

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Etienne growls as he fires another arrow at the beast.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 1 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

It just occurred to me: is there a particular Knowledge to identify the creature? I'm assuming either Arcana or Planes, but really have no idea. I highly doubt Nature applies, but maybe one of our casters can figure something out

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Etienne's face turn grimmer as Sjora flees. He gently places Isabeau in his backpack (leaving the top open so she won't suffocate). Then he takes a step forward, unlimbers his bow, and scans the darkness for the creature.

Move Action: place Isabeau in backpack (treating as "Sheathing a weapon"
5ft step forward - Bow drawn as free action with movement
Standard Action: Ready an attack when the creature reveals itself.

To save time
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 cold iron arrow

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Etienne grimaces as the dark energy surges over him, then turns to check on Isabeau. He gasps in horror when he sees her unconscious figure. Picking her up, he moves farther away from the dark creature and cries out, "Can somebody heal her?!?"

Move: put up bow
Standard: pick up Isabeau
5ft step away from the monster

Isabeau Stabilization Roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 Edit: looks like she's stable now

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Etienne takes a 5ft step backwards to get farther away from the mysterious darkness and fires blindly at the last place he saw the creature.

Firing a cold iron arrow at M-24
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 9

Isabeau will stay behind Etienne and go total defense (if allowed).

Human Fighter (archer) 3

"There's something flying this way!" Etienne points to the south before readying an arrow. Isabeau hops off his shoulder and lands on the ground behind him (where he'll provide soft cover).
Readied Action: fire an arrow once threat is revealed
To save time: Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 +1 if within 30ft
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5 +1 if within 30ft cold iron arrow
Knowledge(nature): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 if applicable

Favored Enemy: human, but I doubt it applies here

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Etienne looks around as well - paying close attention to the junk piles for any potential threats.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 Booya! :-)
Isabeau Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Oops. Should be updated now. I'm at 9/12, and Isabeau's at 2/5. I was mainly asking for Rufon's benefit, so we should be good to go.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

"Before we go, does anyone have a method of healing? Rufon, Thrace, and Isabeau could use some."

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Cool. :-)

Human Fighter (archer) 3

@GM: Ahhhh, good catch. My casters always max out Spellcraft, so that roll gets handwaved. Now I can start having fun with my players *evil grin*.

"I just remembered that these creatures' pelts are supposed to have some sort of beneficial properties. Worst case, they'll keep two of us warm. Rufon, could you give me a hand?"

Was it Heal or Survival to skin them? If it's Heal, I may have to do it solo. If it's Survival, I'll be assisting Rufon.

Heal/Survival 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 Unless I can take 10/20

Human Fighter (archer) 3

@Duraelo: Next level, put a point in Know(arcana) and Spellcraft if you have any to spare. Should solve that problem. Right now, if you detect magic on the vials for 3 rounds, you should get the spell's school (if they're magic). Could give us a clue to their contents.

After considering the bodies for another minute, Etienne speaks again. "Something just occurred to me. These cultists have attacked us with fire and cold so far tonight. They seem to have an "elemental" theme, so I wouldn't be surprised if our next encounter with their creatures involves either acid or electricity somehow. Does anyone have a way to lessen these effects?"

Flaming Exploding Zombies - Fire
Winter Wolf/dog hybrids - Cold
The GM in the last campaign I was in started off with my fighting four Small Elementals (earth, air, fire, water)
Natural thought progression on my part? :-)

Human Fighter (archer) 3

"Well that was lovely" Etienne comments as he examines the bodies. After a moment, he frowns. "Somebody's been experimenting with these dogs. They look like common animals, but I recognize some Winter Wolf in them. It's not from breeding either. I'm liking this place less and less...."

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Etienne fires again at the monster.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Now that they're visible, is there a particular Knowledge we can use to identify the monsters?

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Sorry about that. I was waiting for Kyra to take an action.

Etienne fires an arrow at the remaining monster.
Attack 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9
Damage 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Then he orders Isabeau to "Stay!" and steps forward five feet to give her soft cover.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Surprise round, so I didn't think I'd be able to Handle her. Plan was to order her to "Stay", and move in front of her to provide soft cover (she's at 2 HP) and let other people in. Figured that's more like a Standard, Move, and Free.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

"Trouble!" Etienne yells as he fires an arrow at the enemy.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 +2 if human, +1 if within 30ft
Damage (if hit): 1d8 ⇒ 4 +2 if human, +1 if within 30ft

EDIT: Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 62 looks like I'll hit them if my attack roll beats their AC (doubtful with that roll)

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Etienne enters next, Isabeau on his shoulder. He keeps his eyes and ears open for the slightest hint of an enemy.

Etienne's taking Total Defense as well.

Etienne Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Isabeau Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Etienne glances back for a moment before resuming watching the passage in front of him. "This place is beginning to unnerve me, and that's hard to do. I'm wondering if we should make a tactical retreat and come back when it's light. I'm starting to have serious doubts about tackling this place at night...."

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Human Fighter (archer) 3

@GM: That's correct. Just the normal Animal Companion stuff.

When the lights go out, Etinne quickly puts up his bow and draws a longsword. "Isabeau, to me! What's wrong?"

Handle Animal if required 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 4 = 11 EDIT: Come trick

He then quietly backs into the room with the others and waits, senses alert.

Stealth 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Human Fighter (archer) 3

"Before we go, I had a thought about that circle thing. It looks like whoever was here either just finished something or was getting ready start some kind of ritual. Do we want to attempt to disrupt it? Maybe blow out a candle or scuff part of the sand circle? Something subtle. Besides, it's not like they won't know we were hear, what with the busted door. Thoughts?"

Human Fighter (archer) 3

"This room appears to be set up for some kind of ritual. Since we've already announced our presence, maybe we should try to disrupt whatever's going on? Blow out the candles or something? I'm afraid I know nothing of the arcane arts, so I don't think I'll be much help here."

Etienne moves to the east passage and looks around, but tries to stay out of sight.

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Stealth 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Isabeau squawks angrily as the fire burns her and flies to a safer location. 10ft behind the group, up by the ceiling

Etienne grimaces as he gets burned again. "Thanks Rufon, I was wondering how many times I could get set on fire tonight. What's our next brilliant plan?" He then backs up another 5ft from the door - in case the trap goes off again.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Etienne stays alert for any sign of trouble. Feeling uneasy, but unable to figure out why, he nocks an arrow - just in case.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

That marching order seems right. Etienne's got his bow out, and Isabeau's currently perched on his shoulder. How high's the ceiling?

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Etienne strings his bow but waits for a group consensus before proceeding.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Etienne speaks up quietly. "Sjora helped keep me alive in the fire, and Rufon's an old friend. I'm in."

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Etienne quietly adds some additional information. "During the fire, I attempted to find Johan and Susanna. Johan's door was locked - quite securely, I might add. Is that normal? Did he have any enemies?"

My hawk's back now, right? I'd called to her as I exited the inn.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

So far, we've been attacked by exploding zombies, set on fire, and almost got blown up. I'd say this campaign is ... *puts on sunglasses* ... starting off hot. B-)

Human Fighter (archer) 3

"Johan's door was locked, and I couldn't get it open. Susanna's door was blocked by fire too strong for me. I fear that they're no longer with us." Etienne looks crestfallen as he whistles for Isabeau.

Human Fighter (archer) 3

Yeah, like Etienne, I wasn't paying too much attention to the barmaids.

Realizing that getting through the door is a hopeless proposition, Etienne rushes for safety as the fire continues to rage.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Unfortunately, his heroic rescue attempt costs him dearly as the flames burn him.

1d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + (2) = 3 EDIT: Wow! Lucky rolls!

Making an educated guess about the failed saves to save time. Not going to worry about ongoing burn damage, as I should be within view of Sjora now, and she'll be dousing me with water to put out the fire. Of course, if I'm wrong, feel free to ignore everything I just wrote. :-)

Current HP: 9/12
