![]() So I'm running a home game that takes place in Magnimar and the PC's have angered the sczarni enough that old man Scarnetti is calling in a professional to deal with them. They have already met this foe but they do not realize he's a foe yet. I wanted him to be the combo used in my heading because it seemed cool when someone else suggested it. I have no idea how to optimize it though. They are sixth and he has one helper who is a Greymalkin Rogue, so I figured this enemy could be 8th-9th built around a 20-25 point buy. Any advice welcome. ![]()
![]() So I wanted to build a PC who would fill in for the party rogue but who is actually a Sorc. Specifically a Vishkanya Envenomed Serpentine Sorcerer. I'm going to take the trap finding trait and something like highlander for in class stealth, I'm trying to specialize in poison use from my various abilities, with a high Dex and weapon finesse hitting should be ok. Does anyone have any suggestions to bring this to fruition? ![]()
![]() Hi, So I'm GM-ing Jade Regent right now and my players are on Night of Frozen Shadows. I have a player who has been clearly frustrated by this section of the AP and after tonight's session made that known. Essentially the notoriety point system has made him feel as though his enemies vastly out skill and have vastly out maneuvered him at every turn and that makes him feel less heroic and that he shouldn't even bother. He said that his philosophy about gaming is that the players should feel heroic, and that that series of encounters which has things like people sneaking up on him without so much as a roll to spot, people tailing the pc's with ease, people sneaking into his room when he can find no way how they would know where he was staying, ambush attacks in which once the ambusher was cornered they had an invisibility potion which they drank and ran away. He just feels like the game is presenting opponents that are too powerful and overwhelming. He's really frustrated that he is often not allowed checks. From my perspective (and I'm running these encounters as written) the enemy has a vast network of spies and informants and has been set up in this city for over five decades. They are intelligent and well prepared. I feel as though the party built themselves with several holes which the enemy exploits. I dont know, I guess my impression is that the author wanted to set them up in a scenario where the players felt unsafe, one that built upon dread and intrigue, you don't know who to trust or where to turn to and so the challenge is to take out the mob in a mobbed up city while surviving the fact that you are at a disadvantage. So I think both perspectives are valid, and I kind of blame myself for him seeing it the way he does instead of the way I do. I'm not sure what I did but the tone of slow mounting dread, of being surrounded and not knowing where to turn has come across as a tone of ultimately they can stat whatever they want and create challenges we can't overcome if they choose so why are we even playing. I want to turn it around, and since I'm clearly not on the same wavelength I need advice. I need direction on anything I can do (tonally) to change the feel of the campaign. ![]()
![]() Hi I have a concept for myself and a friend to build a duo of stealth/thief like characters built around teamwork feats and fighting collaboratively. I've always felt Teamwork feats were powerful and awesome but no one in my troupe takes them because we mostly build our characters apart from each other. I want the duo to focus around combat, and traditional "Rogue" archetype things like disabling traps, picking pockets, scouting etc. I use Rogue in quotes because they can be any class as long as they can do things an archetypal rogue can do fairly well. I'd like to incorporate the following feats : Feint Partner, Seize the Moment, Butterfly's Sting, Stealth Synergy, Outflank, Paired Opportunists, Lookout The problem/challenge is that the above is a lot of feats. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to start? Even class suggestions would be helpful. ![]()
![]() So in a recent session of Giantslayer my cavalier ended up Strength Damaged, Dexterity Damaged, Engulfed, Paralyzed, Suffocating, and he survived thanks to quick action from his comrades. In case he dies I have begun construction on a backup PC. I want someone with at least two good saves, at least four skill points, at least d10 hit die. I want to take Climb, Acrobatics, Swim, Perception, and survival, and I was thinking of the feats Toughness, Great Fortitude, Lightning Reflexes, Iron Will, Endurance, Diehard, and perhaps the Deathless Tree. The Game is 20 point buy, Paizo stuff only. Anyone have any decent builds they can think of that fits all this stuff in? I was thinking of a Slayer... ![]()
![]() People (and probably also myself on occasion) on these forums commonly write rogue as rouge and since rouge is a word spell check never informs you of your mistake. So for a laugh I thought it would be interesting to make a new class for pathfinder called the rouge.
This is something I want people to have fun with and silly ideas are perfectly welcome. If we can come up with an interesting and funny class I intend to use it as an npc in an upcoming campaign. Any ideas? ![]()
![]() As above, I'm hoping to take many of the Kitsune flavor feats that most people seem to think aren't worth the time. At least Fox form and one to four Magical tails. Since that's so many feats I'm trying to think of something fun to play that doesn't need that many feats. I was thinking Swashbuckler, Sorcerer, or Druid. Any thoughts or build suggestions? I want the character to have an infiltration/scout capability hence the enchantments and shape-shifting. ![]()
![]() The Trident is a one handed piercing weapon so does it receive weapon finesse from swashbuckler finesse or since it grants the feat does it not work with trident? Essentially is it treated like weapon finesse for all weapons called out or is it actual weapon finesse? Also any tips for a cool swashbuckler undine build would be good too. ![]()
![]() Hey everyone, I know many people rate sound striker as sub par but I'm intrigued by the concept. I thought it would be cool to make a bard who specializes in sonic blast spells like ear piercing scream, shout, and the like who has this archetype. I'm having trouble thinking on how to optimize him any ideas? Any feats, spells, or strategies that would help this concept would be appreciated. Also I'm given to believe that celebrity and song healer can both stack with sound striker. Is this true can I have all three?
Not to ask too much but would words of power be an option for this character and as I am not very familiar with that option is it helpful or more of a nuisance than regular casting? |
