Background:
He was born 25 years ago on a tiny island close to the coast of Casmaron. His clan made their home in the jungles surrounding ancient ruins. He was born of two Vanara, his mother came from the jungle dwelling tribe he grew up in while his father was descended from Savannah dwelling Vanara. Like his father he has a short tail unsuited to grasping objects. He was trained from an early age in the way of combat with fists and feet from his father and bow and arrow from his mother. He was often picked on by his peers as children, both for his odd tail and his quiet demeanor. This was his early motivation for his drive for strength. While he engaged in the same kind of games that his peers did to him it was a form of training. At night he used to spend a several hours mastering his hand to hand style, beyond the minimum he was required. He spent his free time in training and exploring the ruins at the heart of the jungle. His father died when he was 15, just on year after he reached manhood. He took over his father’s position as captain of the clan’s hunters. With his sharp mind and eyes he excelled at his position though his peers continued to treat him as an outsider. When he was 18 he participated in a fighting tournament and his final opponent was one of his peers, the one most responsible for his torment as a child. He defeated him soundly and when his opponent was on the ground opening his mouth to plead for surrender, ero gave in to his anger and beat him to unconsciousness. His opponent did not awaken and died later that night. While awaiting the judgement of the clan elders, Ero realized that he did not feel bad about what he had done. His opponent was weak and deserved his fate if that was so. This was the night his philosophy was born. He was sentenced to death but his mother pled for exile instead. She gave him her bow when he left and made him promise to return one day. He spent the next 5 years travelling the world, honing his talents with fist and bow. He often worked as a guard and rigger aboard ships, his climbing ability helped him excel at the later and his combat skills made him valuable in the former. He studied under masters in Tian Xia and Garund. Eventually he found work as a slaver aboard a ship called the Witch’s breath. He worked aboard her hull for two years, capturing ships and selling their crew into slavery or indentured servitude. One day however Ero arose to find he had been betrayed. The captain decided he did not want to pay Ero anymore but worried on facing him in open combat for he was a captain who ruled through the strength of his minions. Ero awoke with his arms tied behind his back and stripped of all his possessions. He was put into a small dinghy and sent off into the sea. Ero swore that he would get revenge and recover his bow one day. Luck was on his side and he was recovered by another ship and made it back to port peril.
Appearance and Personality:
Ero Berer is a Vanara, a race of simian humanoids. His face has the general appearance of a Rhesus macaque with a large brow, slightly sunken in round eyes, a nose and mouth that jut outwards and large incisors. The skin of his ass is hairless and a deep red like a baboon and his face is tinged red and blue like a mandrill. His feet are dexterous and function somewhat similarly to hands. Ero Berer is tall, at 6ft he is taller than most Vanara and many humans. He weighs 185 lbs and has a wiry build. His fur is a mix of black and white (salt and pepper) and his eyes are hazel with tiny pupils. His gaze is piercing. Every morning he shaves, keeping the fur on his arms, legs and core thin. He shaves all the fur on his face leaving him with a pair of large side burns. He shaves around and under his mouth so the side burns do not connect. His pulls his long hair back to form a ponytail, which reaches his upper back. The fur on his head and shoulders are much thicker than is normal a legacy of his father who was from a clan known as ‘’white-capes’’. Unlike most Vanara his tail is quite short and is not prehensile, another legacy of his father. Ero wears Silver colored silk pants and a thin sleeveless shirt, both of which are trimmed in black. His slippers are of similar color and all his clothing is loose, held together by a series of sashes. His slippers in particular are made to be kicked off at a moment’s notice as he prefers to climb and fight without them. He wears a single earring in each ear, both cheap and of low quality, one is silver and the other gold. He wears signet ring on his left hand, made of silver and emblazoned with the sigil he took as his own, a black monkey’s paw over flames. He pursues personal perfection above all else as he believes that mastering one’s self is the first step to mastering others. He believes strongly in power and the right of might. He thinks that in any given society the weak must bow to the strong, become strong themselves or die. He is pragmatic and always weighs the pros and cons of his actions before committing to them. He is often serious and slow to interact with others but that is because he is self-conscious about his weak charisma. He is very stubborn and quite intelligent. He is very proud but his reverence for strength forces him to bow to those he deems stronger then himself. Though he pursues personal strength he recognizes that in groups his goals are usually easier to meet. He relies on his intellect to gather allies to make up for his otherwise poor inter-personal skills. Fighting and drinking are favorite pastimes of his but he never allows his bloodlust to control him and he curses the drunk as one of life’s greatest fools. He is very fond of music, particularly the lute, though he has no talent for it himself. He is a wicked man and has very few qualms about committing atrocities if it suits his needs. He has killed, beaten, tortured and sold many into slavery. He does not however commit evil for evil’s sake however, and If loot or power can be seized without killing someone then he will not kill them. His own personal code of honor prevents him from harming or killing those he deems helpless but he does not think they are generally worth saving and deserve what comes their way. Children are an exception to his code as it is not realistic to expect children to fight adults. If he faces an opponent he deems powerful he has been known to spare them in acknowledgment of their power. To his shame he has never been able to overcome his love of bugs. He will often pluck them from his fur and eat them, even if he sees them crawling on other people, despite his best efforts to resist. Motivations:
Ero is motivated by several desires some pressing and others less so. His primary motivations are to amass personal power in the form of strength of arms and to become a significant player within the Shackles. He wants to amass an army and return to his home. He wants to kill those who exiled him and see his mother one more time. Before that he wants to find the Witch’s Breath, kill its treacherous crew and reclaim his mother’s bow. Finally he wants to establish a school that seeks to teach his personal philosophy and means of combat. He also hopes to one day reunite with a sea elf he worked with named Aqguazula, He was a fierce slaver with ambitions and methods very similar to Ero's own. Theme Song:
