APPEARANCE
-------------------
Black robes cover a rugged frame developed by years of training at the Schola Progenium on Maccabeus Quintus. His angular features are hardened beyond his rather youthful age, granting him an almost intimidating gaze. He keep his thick black hair cut short, though not the crop he sported as a pupil at the Schola. Around his waist are the cords of his station, along with a simple belt from which hangs a heavy naval-style stub pistol. On his back he carries the tools of his trade, a lucius pattern shotlas, and the reforged remnants of Mendanion's Confession, gifted to him by his inquisitor.
Erkan carries himself with a calm, inquisitive demeanor which belies the passion of faith that burns within him. His faith is his sword and armor, and he has little time for frivolities, though can at times exhibit a fatalistic sense of humor. He is absolutely sworn to his Inquisitor, ready to give his life in service to both the Faith and the Inquisition, all for the glory of the Emperor.
Subject Profile: Subject QV246 was encountered as the sole survivor located in the interior chapel of the most holy Shrine of the Shattered Angel on Archaos. My investigations had lead me to uncover a cell of daemon-worshippers cloistered amidst the Ecclesiarchy of this shrine, who had in turn lead multiple noble families on the planet into this forbidden following. The sight of the interior chapel was covered with the corpses of other Imperial Priests, including those under suspicion of my investigation, who had suffered wounds from blades, firearms, and worse. The remnants of three corpses dismembered by a daemon were eventually identified. Also recovered in a strangely clear area was the relic Mendanion’s Confession, a holy blade that had been enshrined in the chapel. The tip of the blade was missing, clearly melted away by some abyssal horror, but the base of the blade, as well as the hilt were unmistakable. Amidst all this, the young noviciate knelt silently praying before the Aquila. Like the corpses around him, he had multiple wounds, but was by some twist still alive. Shortly after our arrival, I confronted Subject QV246 who looked up at me and tried to say something, but instead lost consciousness on account of his many wounds.
Suspected as a conspirator in this daemon cult, Subject QV246 wounds were treated so that he could be interrogated extensively. During his treatment, a Schola Progenium brand was found on his left shoulder, tying to a Schola Progenium facility on Maccabeus Quintus. Through a good deal of research, Subject QV246 was determined to be Erkan Vaughan, orphan son of Colonel Kiten Vaughun of the Maccabian 23rd Janissaries. The 23rd was noted for their bravery and effectiveness in multiple campaigns across the Drusus Marches, with Colonel Vaughun having lost his life during fighting on 47 Kapella. According to the Schola’s records, Erkan was a model student, and was only given to the Ministorum to pursue a career in the Missionarius Galaxia because of his overwhelming faith (not entirely uncommon given his homeworld). In researching through dispatches, Vaughan had recently arrived at the shrine to further his training within the Ecclesiarchy as a Confessor, so that he might both bring the Righteous Word to Frontier Worlds and route out the heretic.
Upon regaining consciousness, my acolytes and I submitted Subject QV246 through a pattern of interrogation systems to draw forth the nature of his role in the affair. Throughout the application of multiple emotional, physical, and psychic methods to ascertain the truth, Subject QV246 maintained his complete innocence and prior lack of knowledge of any cult presence until his mentor was murdered in front of him as he entered the chapel, the apparent completion of some kind of daemon binding ritual. His Schola training triggered, and Subject QV246 engaged the fallen clergy. He was injured during the conflict, but was able to kill three of the fallen clergy in return. His action apparently disrupted the ritual and the daemon only partially took control of its host, driving him mad. The possessed slew several of its allies, allowing Subject QV246 to recover the relic Mendanion’s Confession, which he used to impale the daemonhost. The holy nature of the blade destroyed the demon, but its escaping essence damaged the weapon greatly. When we found him, he was praying for absolution for staining the hallowed chapel in the blood of men and daemon alike.
Given Subject QV246’s maintained innocence despite extensive interrogation and manipulation, a clean psychic presence, and the eventually recovered pict-grams from the surveillance system, I find him innocent of any involvement in case I:MLS48267-QV2. Furthermore, I am requisitioning his services from the Ministorum, asking that he first be indoctrinated into the order of Banishers present here in the Calixis Sector, to be returned to me once his training is complete.
