Silver Crusade 1/5 *

Mayhaps once you blokes have recovered the chronicle sheets, my bow and the Dawnflower's grace can help these bloody pirates be redeemed.

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

This is a pre-level 2 reroll. I've played 2 scenarios on the character already, so I have 2 PP (I spent 2 on a wand of CLW) and about 1800 gold to spend.

I was going to pay gold for a composite longbow (Str +2) but that dark wood one sounds better.

I'm wearing a breastplate and add 3 to my AC from Dex so that should be good for armor.

Silver Crusade

Ok, I get a 20 pt buy (for PFS). I'm looking at:

Str 14
Dex 16
Con 12
Int 10
Wis 16
Cha 8

Would you recommend any changes?

Since I can use longbows without Erastil, is there another good aligned deity you would recommend? I'd really rather play a good character, but if I have to go neutral I guess that's fine.

That Conversion domain is sick, seriously. I love it thanks for pointing it out.

Oh and I have a Morningstar for melee combat. Should I change to Iomedae and get a long sword since Conversion domain works with any deity? I don't think the long sword does any more damage.

Silver Crusade

Possibly.

Right now I'm just trying to get the hang of the class. I don't normally play ranged characters in my RPGs whether tabletop or digital.

Silver Crusade

I decided not to do the skill monkey and just be a ranged DD.

Being human I get an extra skill every level, so 6 will have to do.

I am follower or Erastil using a composite longbow (Str +2) and I am Animal Domain.

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

Oh well I don't have any ranks in Climb anyway so my rolls on it will be terrible anyway.

I've also decided to go a different route and go archer, so I'll most likely be wearing MW Studded Leather.

Silver Crusade

Ok Caineach, you've convinced me to go the archer Inquisitor route. I'm going human so I can get Point-blank Shot and Precise Shot at level 1. Stat spread will be 15/16/10/9/15/10.

I now have 2 questions. I need a second Trait to go along with Reactionary. And I suppose I'm an Inquiaitor of Erastil since she favors the longbow.

Silver Crusade

I know it's not much damage, but I could spam Acid Splash and I could also get Inflict Light Wound but I can only cast it 3 or 4 times a day and that's with a huge Cha bonus.

I don't know. Meh, that same guide has an archer Inquisitor build and it's supposed to be VERY powerful, so if I decide to go the archer route I'll look into that.

I'm honestly more worried about a party face and skill monkey type character because the other players in my PFS group don't seem to have those bases covered. In last week's session we ended up relying on the social skills of a half-Orc sorcerer, so you can imagine how that turned out.

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

What is the benefit of Agile over a regular breastplate?

Silver Crusade

I'm not trying to be a martial character. I'm aiming for skill monkey, party face, and combat support character.

Based on that build, would I be better off with a different weapon and armor setup?

And before you say play a bard, I don't want to play a bard.

Silver Crusade

Ok thanks. So I'll take Knowedge Local and make it a class skill and put a rank in it instead of Knowledge: Arcane.

Oh and I didn't put a single rank in any Dex or Str based skills. My ability spread is 7/10/10/18/15/15. Got Int to 18 with the bonus from being human.

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

Nice I can go with a breastplate and shield then. And being at medium carry weight wont't affect me too much either since I don't have to get into the thick of things.

Just got a last few details to work out.

Thanks guys.

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

Virtuoso is a play style. I got it from Bodhi's Inquisitor guide. It's basically a skill monkey Inquisitor that serves as party face and fills a support role in combat.

Does armor affect the failure rate of Inquisitor spells?

Silver Crusade

Nothing?

Silver Crusade

So I have decided to roll up an LG Inquisitor of Iomedae.

Her favored weapon is a long sword, so I figured I would use one of those as a weapon.

I had a couple of questions.

I am considering going with an Armored Coat and a Light Wooden Shield. Is this going to hamper me in any way?

Also, I am a human and I selected Reactionary and World Traveler as traits. How important is initiative going to be for me as a virtuoso Inquisitor, basically a total support character in combat? Is there a better trait I can take to help me in my role as party face, support character, and spellcaster?

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

Yeah I finally found them. Decided on Reactionary and World Traveler, although I'm wondering if having a higher initiative will be as important for a support character.

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

My first week I didn't have time to roll a char so I made a ninja pre-gen. It was ok so I rolled a ninja. Then I bought the Advanced Player Guide and saw Inquisitors. I played my ninja last week, but I think I want to be an Inquisitor instead.

I'm rolling it up now. Just having problems finding Traits.

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

I think I'm going to go Inquisitor. I have a feeling a ninja built to be a face will be less than optimal, which would end up driving me crazy.

I can make a virtuoso Inquisitor and be the party face and be a support character in battle just fine.

So I guess that means it would make sense to apply the 4 fame/PP, 2 exp, and 2000 gold I got to the Inquisitor.

Silver Crusade 1/5 *

So I made my first Pathfinder character a couple weeks ago to use n a PFS group. I made a human Ninja, but after playing it a couple of times and reading the CRB, APG, and UC books, I think I want to change to a virtuoso Inquisitor.

Which class will generally be better for PFS? If Inquisitor should I just leave the Ninja with the 2 exp and make a fresh Inquisitor, or apply the 2 exp and all of the loot to my Inquisitor?

If I do go with an Inquisitor, where can I find a list of all of the gods/goddesses of Golarion?

BTW, I picked virtuoso Inquisitor because I like the idea of a skill monkey character and a character that can serve as the "face" for my party since that was lacking in the 2 scenarios I did on my Ninja.

Curses, ninjaed!

Silver Crusade

Never mind I'm getting Feats and Traits confused. I'll drop Dodge and pick up TWF.

Silver Crusade

I was planning on wielding 2 wakizashi.

Bah just realized I can't get Weapon Finesse and TWF both at level 1.

So what other feat should I get at level 1 in anticipation of getting TWF at level 3?

Silver Crusade

I'm thinking I wanna go TWF. I don't see myself liking a dip into any of the magical classes.

As far as the skills go, one thing I noticed in the first two scenarios is that none of the other characters near my level have the social skills, so I will probably have to keep those so I'm sure somebody always has them. If I always ran with the same group and somebody else had them, I'd dump Int and up Str.

So there's no level requirement on TWF right? As long as I have the required Dex I can drop Dodge and pick up TWF at level 1?

Silver Crusade

I was thinking of a ninja that sneaks around the main melee and gets into flanking position. This is the first character I've ever made for Pathfinder (or DnD, for that matter) so everything is fairly new to me. I've done 2 scenarios but I haven't seemed very effective in either. I'm trying to nail down a character while I can still make changes.

Right now I have Weapon Finesse and Dodge and Reactionary and Mind over Matter (from Lantern Lodge) as traits.

I'm not completely dead set on human and was seriously considering halfling.

I can't say which type of character will work best as I play with a different group every week.

I built the character I suppose as a sneak attacker getting bonus dice for flanking and sneak attacks. What works best with that?

Silver Crusade

20 pt buy.

I'm pretty set on ability scores: 12/16/14/10/8/14 and a +2 to Dex for being human.

Wondering what feats/traits to take other than Weapon Finesse.

Silver Crusade

I'll look into both of those options.

They are both PFS legal, right?

Silver Crusade

I have a wakizashi, a kusarigami, a dagger, and a short bow. The weapons, arrows included, only weigh 11 lbs.

Which source is the ioun torch in? I don't have access to every book.

Silver Crusade

Yeah, I dropped a couple of things I was carrying to get under 50 lbs. the only things I have now other than weapons and armor are a grappling hook, silk rope, and a lantern.

Thank god smoke pellets and flash powder have an insignificant weight.

Silver Crusade

Thanks for the help guys. Got my AC up to 18 with the MW Studded Leather and thanks to the MW Backpack I'm still 1 lb under the light load limit.

Silver Crusade

Ok thanks. I'll check it out when I get home.

Now, any recommendations on what to buy with the 1500g or so I have right now?

Silver Crusade

Hmmm...I have Core, APG, and UC and I didn't see Cermonial Silks in UC. A friend who got me into Pathfinder helped me create my character said the Ceremonial Silks are in UE.

I'll have to look back through UC again to make sure I didn't miss it.

Silver Crusade

Ok, I've decided to follow the suggestions in this thread and go with the MW Backpack and change my Ceremonial Silks to MW Studded Leather.

Just to confirm, the MW Backpack costs 50g and increases my carry capacity by 7 lbs, correct?

The MW Studded Leather will cost 175g and have no AC penalty because it is MW, correct?

Can anyone confirm the price of the Ceremonial Silks? It's in the Ultimate Equipment Guide, which is the one book I want that I haven't purchased yet.

Silver Crusade

Oh yeah I'm through 2 scenarios now, so I've got close to 2000 gold.

I'll have to look into the masterwork backpack and changing my armor to a studded leather shirt.

Going with the ceremonial silks originally was partially out of necessity (due to the weight) and partially for RP reasons because I was going to make my character a female. I've since decided that I can't RP a female character to save my life and have changed him to a male while I still have the chance.

Silver Crusade

I didn't dump Str, it's actuall at 12. There's just a lot of little things a ninja needs and the weight starts to add up quickly.

Silver Crusade

Use smoke pellets instead of smoke sticks. If you're in flanking position the smoke sticks could be detrimental to a teammate attacking your target. The smoke pellets will just obscure the square you are in. I think.

Silver Crusade

Actually upon looking back at my character sheet I think I passed on the studded leather because of the increased weight over the ceremonial silks.
