Ever since Endrance was a child, he has wanted to be an Aldori swordlord. When he was just a boy, he saw a magnificent procession in the town square, with the mighty duelists marching in a parade. Endrance's eyes shone brightly and he declared, "One day, I'll be just like them!"
Endrance started practicing swordplay from a young age in order to make his dream come true. He went into the forests and attacked trees with a blade, teaching himself how to hold the sword, how to aim with it, how to put force behind it. His father, seeing that Endrance was truly serious about his endeavors, decided to buy him a gift.
When Endrance turned 14 years old, his father presented him with his very own Aldori dueling sword. Endrance was overjoyed. He wore it proudly, and threw away his old longswords, swearing he would never use anything other than a dueling sword for as long as he lived. However...
There was something...unusual about the blade. Endrance's skill with it was remarkable, as if the sword knew where he was trying to hit and how hard he wanted to hit with it. He felt the sword's magic power resonate with his own latent magical abilities, and knew that this was no ordinary weapon. Endrance began to enthusiastically research the subject.
One day, when he was reading at the library, Endrance discovered a book called "The Black Blade". The author described a very similar situation to Endrance's, involving a sword that almost seemed alive at times. Endrance was disappointed, however, when the book did not reveal how to unlock the true potential of the weapon. At the very back of the book, the author had a few parting words for his readers: "Everything I learned, I learned in the abandoned ruins of the Stolen Lands."
The path before Endrance was clear. He needed to find some comrades and explore the Stolen Lands in order to discover the secret to unlocking his blade's power. Truth be told, Endrance was not particularly pleased with how much tension was in the world over this unclaimed land anyway. The chance to punish some bandits and improve his swordplay skills were also important factors in his decision. Endrance went before the Brevoy Council and advocated himself as a skilled mercenary and explorer who would be vital to such an expedition, citing his versatile powers with both magic and arms, as well as his intellect.
