Emmanuel bends down and watches Wits stir the water, "That's pretty gross, Wits. Although, I guess I should be grateful. At least you're not collecting it in your waterskin!" He smiles and gives him a big slap on the back.

"For once, at least we aren't getting jumped by something freakish. Outside of the dirty old bath water, we're good!" Sounding pleasantly surprised they aren't getting attacked by some type of abomination creature.
"I'll go first, no problem. You just keep the light up, Dean, and we'll be good to go."
"Whoa! What the....? You know, this place just gets more freakish, the more we uncover." Then responding to Dean's question, "Not me. I don't know anything about ancient runes."
Not to interested in the "junk" that was found, "Well, this is a dead end. I say we go through that door we didn't go through before we went through the door that led us here." He manages to spit out in one breath. "What do you fellas think?"
"Hm. Impressive." Emmanuel remarks to himself as he looks into the room with a slight bit of temptation to try it himself. Nah. He decides against it and turns back to the others to see what Raynard has acquired.
"Because rope is extremely useful to someone blown to pieces." Reynard replies dryly. "Hey! Wait a minute! I'm...," he points to himself, "he's...," he points towards Wits. Realizing that he's been bested once again, he responds with his usual, "Bah! Suit yourself."
"Hold on there, Reynard!" He tries to stop him before he walks in. "I got some rope here we can use on you, just in case. You know, if you explode into little tiny pieces or something like that", he turns and looks at Wits, "Wits won't get to run all his "crazy little tests" on you." He finishes mockingly.
"Perhaps we should tie a rope to Emanuel's ankle, to retrieve him in case he becomes stuck. Or to bring his corpse back for a thorough autopsy in case of death."
"What?! Autopsy?! Death?! Why you! I oughta...," shakes fist at Wits. Thinking about it for a moment, he resigns himself to the fact that Wits got him this time, "Bah!" He throws his hands up in defeat. "While the raven's dead, the maggots are alive," Dean notes. "Apparently the sphere isn't inimicable to all life, perhaps only more advanced life. In either case," he goes on, turning to Emmanuel with a wide smile, "you should be fine." Listening to Dean, Emmanuel just stares blankly at him as if he's lost. "Now if you could repeat that in common, I would appreciate it. I got the 'you should be fine' part."
Wandering up from his fluid collection, Wits peers into the room. "I say. This place is an eldritch maze of strange things, isn't it? So, who's going to head in there to retrieve the objects?" "I'll do it." He replies to Wits's question. "But not until after we find out what that electricity does. I may be crazy but I ain't stupid." Before Wits or Dean have a chance to speak, "And I don't need any comment from you two either, thanks." He points his finger at one then the other, glaring at them all the while. ...He takes a copper piece out of his pouch and carefully tosses it into the sphere to see what will happen. "This ought to be interesting."
"C'mon Dean! Where's the fun in that! Hey, I wanna be outta here as much as you so I can cook up a real meal. Or maybe have Ameiko cook up one of her specialties. She is a mighty good cook." He ponders that for a moment before continuing, "But takin' out these baddies is pretty fun." Turning back to the task at hand, "Hey Luc, you gotta knack with these doors better than me. All I can do is try and bust 'em down. Maybe you can see if it's safe to open before I go waltzin' in."
"Alright then." He speaks as he stares down at the trapped zombie. "They ain't much of a challenge anyway, all trapped down there. Just waiting to get deader." Returning his focus back to the group, "Well, let's see what the rest of this place has in store for us. I don't mind being up front. That's where all the action is anyway. But I got no problem if one of the rest of you wanna go first?" He says to the others with a shrug.
Wits moves over to examine the body, sorting through its belongings as he goes. "More's the pity, really. I suppose I shall have to be content with samples of its vital fluids and humors. I had no idea today was going to be so conducive to my research!" Listening to these two continue on about the dead abomination just confuses Emmanuel, "What the frak is wrong with you two?! This is a freakish...thing..and all you fellas wanna do is study it?! I don't know what's worse, this goblin looking abomination or you two who wished it was still alive so we could take it home and make it a pet! Next thing you know you'll be giving it a name! Something like...foofy or something!" Realizing his words are falling on deaf ears, "Bahhh!" he says as he waves his arms in exasperation.
"That thing's alive but only just," Dean offers, as he turns to look down the pit. "Don't do anything to it that will violate the integrity of the skeleton Down here...," he draws back as the rotting slats fall into the pit, "looks to be zombies. Poor fellows, but no value to them, and I don't see any point in jumping down all these pits and climbing back up just to put them out of their misery." He looks across the room to the exit corridor. "If we step lively, we should be able to avoid the 'traps.'" "Zombies?! And we're just gonna leave 'em down there?" He looks questioningly at the party then turns back and looks at the undead, "Shouldn't we get rid of them, or something? They are undead after all." Thinking about it for a moment, "I guess what we could do is, maybe if we have time later, we can come back and extract one from the pits, so we can play games with him and tell stories to him. Then afterward, Wits can vivasect him and take fluids from him and all that other stuff that Wits does." He says with a straight as face as he can muster, until he eventually caves in to a great big smile, seemingly proud of his joke.
"Alive!? Are you crazy?! This freak show is toast, Wits!" He says as he draws his weapon while moving toward the abomination and then giving a mighty swing in trying to drop the beast.
Emmanuel yells as blood goes flying everywhere. "Die freak!"
"I can't see a thing." Emmanuel whispers to the others while being unnaturally quiet.
Listening to Dean and Wits, Emmanuel just stares at the two in silence and thinks to himself...Freaks!. "East is fine with me. Any objections?"
Emmanuel looks around the torture chamber wondering about the horrific events that must have taken place here. "Man. This place hurts." Turning back to the group, "Well, which way? There ain't nothing good down here, so just point me in any direction and let's see if we can't put some more of our own hurt on whatever else is down here." He pauses a moment then continues, "Then maybe we can get down to eating some real food. Rations suck." |
