Knowledge local: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 "I am not very hungry." Elvis says as he sits down. He doesn't touch any of the food. After an awkward moment of silence he introduces himself to the older man:

"Maybe this is the real test: to see how we react to this ridiculous treatment. Lets see what the kid wants from us..." At the tavern:

Elvis returns to the Xavi's shop and tells the others what he saw:

Knoledge local: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 "Who ... and what was that?" Elvis hurries outside to collect his two shuriken. If they are lying on the floor he picks them up. If not, he shouts after the sailor whom he attacked with them: "Excuse me! Sir! You still have something that belongs to me. Can I have them back?" His shuriken reclaimed, Elvis disappears in the crowd.
With some distance, he follows the dwarf captain for a while (or the orc, if he is easier to spot in the crowd) - to see where they are going to. (If he thinks they have spotted him, he aborts his pursuit and returns to Xavi's shop)

Elvis throws his shuriken at the man with the flask, before ducking behind the nearest store shelf for cover(5-foot-step to be out of sight, if possible) Shuriken attack (flurry, shaken): 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 1 - 2 = 19
Shuriken attack (flurry, shaken): 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 1 - 2 = 15
Shuriken #1 crit confirm: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 - 2 = 1

Elvis looks for a spot from where he can watch the people on the other side of the door (once the door is opened), without immediately being noticed by them. Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
He reaches for two of his shuriken, just in case.

In response to Bastion: "The main docks of the city are in the Dockway district. If I was a captain, I would try to dock my ship there instead of in Underbridge - unless I was trying to hide from the daylight." "I'm just a simple monk. I know some martial arts, I am observant, and I am good at disappearing in a crowd."
Male Half-Elf Monk 1, HP 11, AC 14, Fort 4, Ref 4, Will 4
Elvis asks Xavi with a questioning look at the jug: "Plain water? Or another mystery drink?" He takes a seat opposite to Bastion and musters him carefully. "Perhaps we should have done that last night, as there is now way of knowing you are the real - sorry, what was your name again?" assuming Bastion gives his name: " - as there is no way of knowing you are the real Bastion, and not a doppelganger who wants to make sure we will mistrust the real Bastion once he shows up." Sense Motive (is Bastion a doppelganger?): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 "But maybe not. So, yes, on to the business at hand. Did anyone manage to find out any details about the ship or its cargo? I went to the docks this morning, but I didn't get any information." Tynan: Elvis doesn't pursue the old woman - unless he notices something peculiar about her Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

After finishing his investigation at the docks unsuccessfully, Elvis heads to the bazaar, looking for Xavi's shop. He makes a few detours through crowded areas along the way, just to be sure to loose any pursuers whose unwanted attention he might have drawn at the docks. Can I take 20 on stealth in this case? If not, see roll below:
Once at the shop, he enters and starts looking for Xavi.

"I agree with Marckus. Lets meet again tomorrow - shall we say ten o clock in the morning? In the meantime, we can try to find out more about our target." Early next morning, Elvis goes to the docks and tries to find out more details: is there a ship expected the next day? If so, for what purpose and where is it from? Have other people been asking similar questions lately? Anyone else sneaking around who doesn't look like they belong there?

"Our chances of success would increase dramatically if you didn't speak in riddles to us. Under normal circumstances, it would be prudent to let us know what merchandise we are stealing, and from whom. But I assume in this case our success is less important to you than watching us struggle in a situation we don't fully understand. Lets get this over with. Do you mind if we use this room in the next two days, to plan the heist?"

DM Alaion wrote: "Drink it and find out. As for our secrets and willingness to share. You seem to be confused, we collect knowledge. If others lack the ability to gain knowledge or keep it. Well that hardly makes it a secret. We are simply very good at keeping our knowledge. We share nothing, members may request knowledge based on their standing. They must earn this right. Non members do not even have the right to ask us. Simple huh." "Simple, but a lie: you already shared some knowledge with me, without me asking for it, and despite me having no standing whatsoever in your organization." DM Alaion wrote: "So anymore questions or would you like to start proving yourselves?" "Just one: what is it that you want us to do? Aside from sampling exotic drinks?" He sniffs at his drink again.

Perception (to see how exactly the boy did the trick of suddenly appearing - and whether more people are in the room): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Elvis watches the boy intently while he replies: "Yes, I accept. I seek wisdom and knowledge. I seek to understand the secrets which are hidden in the shadows. The Solrath Consotrium seems to keep a lot of secrets - and enough shadow to hide them in. For this reason I've been trying to learn more about you for some time now. But all I could find out was that you are admirably efficient and thorough at everything you do - including covering your tracks. " In fact, I've come to believe that even the few traces of you I could find were only breadcrumbs you intentionally laid out for me. "Your invitation implied you would be willing to share some of your secrets - in return for service or membership. That is why I am here. But you knew all that already, I am sure." He takes a smell at the drink Mutt has given him.

Elvis puts the letter and the scroll aside and finishes his cocktail before heading home to read both. A deliberate exercise in patience, but also he is determined to savor that drink he paid 1gp for. Once home, he reads the letter and unseals the scroll. He spends a few hours practicing the techniques he learned from the scroll. At quarter to midnight he leaves for the Blue Velvet. He goes straight to the bar and places his order.

"Quite talented, don't you think? Come, lets listen to her more closely." he whispers to the Marfeldom who is standing next to him. Elvis walks over to the gnome's table and listens attentively. Once she finished her piece he say: "Your music is beautiful." After a moment he adds "I am sure it would be just as beautiful if you didn't try to put a spell on my."

Oops, never mind that part about Marfedelom approaching Tynan in my last post. I was mixing up Marfedelom and Xaviandrin somehow. So to ret-con: Elvis simply talks to Marfedelom in order to calm him down - and makes a mental note to find another excuse to get a closer look at Tynan later.

Perception (Marfedelom): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 almost.
That shadowy lady is royalty? Most interesting. "Enjoy your reefclaw, Marckus." Elvis takes his cocktail and intercepts Marfedelom on his way to Tynan's table and says:
"Sometimes things aren't what they seem to be on the surface. The mysterious Elf at the bar seems to be the obvious choice for the mysterious stranger that summoned you here. But maybe a bit too obvious. It could be anyone of us. Even her." He points at the Gnome with the violin that just arrived. "Stay calm and be patient. Whoever sent you this letter will probably remember its content, so no need to shove it into the face of those who don't ask for it." While thus striking up a conversation, Elvis follows Marfedelom to Tynan's table.

Knowledge local (Have I heard of Father Zayd or the church of Korada before?): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Marckus, servant of Korada. I have to admit - I've never heard of your god before - but spreading peace is always a good thing. I'm a simple monk who is looking for wisdom and enlightenment." Sensing that this answer might not satisfy Marckus' curiosity, he adds "You can never know where you will find enlightenment. Maybe even over a simple dinner in a tavern."

A peaceful Orc? Most curious people here tonight, indeed. "Well spoken, my friend! Have you heard that, Mutt? Isn't that a fabulous idea?" Elvis turns to the Half-Orc, and introduces himself: "Hello, my name is Elvis. I don't think we've met before. What brings you to this part of town?"
Male Half-Elf Monk 1, HP 11, AC 14, Fort 4, Ref 4, Will 4
Elvis enters the tavern and heads towards the bar. The haggard half-elf has a bald shaved head and is wearing a monk's outfit. Perception (Mutt's secret): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Not noticing anything special except for a bartender picking a fight with one of his guests, he seats himself directly next to the foreigner and says: "Hello Mutt. How is business today? Lots of new guests here it seems." Perception (Marfedelom's disguise): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
He makes a placating gesture towards the older man while waiting for Mutt to reply. |
