About Elthir Blackstone
Elthir grew up in a family of mage nobles. Most family members dealt in neutral or good magic, but when Elthir was 17 years old, his mother had a stillborn child and she began to dabble in the dark arts. At first, she tried to use necromancy to raise the child from the dead, but failing that, she began to use dark magic to communicate with what she believed to be the child's soul. It was not the child, but an evil force masquerading as the child, so it could weaken the mother and take control of her. Elthir noticed the change in his mother and contacted a trusted local cleric, Malrin. Malrin questioned Elthir about his mother's circumstances to determine the best plan of action. He decided that an exorcism was the best solution, but he would need Elthir's assistance to perform the sacred ritual. So he spent days training Elthir, until he was ready to help Malrin battle the darkness that overtook Elthir's mother. The ritual took four days. It was a brutal battle with the dark force inside Elthir's mother -- she nearly died from the struggle, but Malrin's expertise and Elthir's newly found ability to heal and channel the forces of light, helped her through it. When she was recovered, she was so grateful to Malrin and proud of Elthir that she gave Malrin a generous donation to start a training program for clerics. The donation was generous enough to allow Malrin to hire a co-instructor and be able to train 10 clerics per cohort - the first cohort of clerical pupils included Elthir. Once Elthir completed his studies with Malrin, he joined The Pathfinder Society to make use of his new skills.
