So the module says Becrux cannot leave the room because of the divinity drive's effect on dimensional travel. However, the Vortex dragon entry explicitly states that vortex dragons are immune to any effect that bars extra-dimensional travel. How did anyone who has run this combat play that? I just allowed the dragon to have access to these spells because my players are rigged for touch attacks and do obscene damage.
What is the deal with Rapiers in this adventure path? I realize my party is only in the second book, but rapiers make up the vast majority of the lootable weapons in the game so far. Has anyone else noticed this, and is it unique to this adventure path. I have been a DM for a long time, but I homebrew my game ( just use Pathfinder rules, not world or Paths). It's like Rapiers are the national weapon or something.
I was looking at the Hell knight/ Paladin thread and realizing how many orders of Hellknights there were, and it hit me.Thats a lot of Hellknights, and they are a tiny fraction of the guys with significant levels, that is not to mention the number of people without significant levels who are still PC classes.... So exactly how many people are in the world to accomidate all of these people? How are they supporting such a huge number of non productive persons?
Question in short. Bob the knight has a lance and ride by attack. He charges omarthe unlucky who is caught flatfooted. Bob moves towards him and attacks when he is still 10 feet out (reach) and then keeps moving forward OVER Omar (this would be an overrun or trample) out to double his movement? OR Does Bob move along a path adjacent to Omar, reach out and touch him with his lance (easily done since the lance has reach he could do this from multiple squares away) and then keep moving. I understand tha t the charge rules do not support number 2 all that well, but I don't see how ride by attack can work without trampling the enemy otherwise. IF number 2 is correct couldn't Bob simply charge near the opponants and pick anyone he wanted within range to poke at?
Almost all of the discussion I see here involves point buy characters. How many people still roll their characters up? My group does, but we are either old timers, or those the old timers introduced to gaming. I am curious how many people still role thier characters and if thier is a corralation between that and length of gaming. I also onder what the influence of point buy systems like white wolf had on it. So here are the questions. Do you roll your characters? Is your answer the deefault of your gaming group? How long have you been gaming? What system did you first game in? Thank you.
My players are going to be involved in a tournament. Assuming none of them do anything stupid there should not be any combat, there obviously will be roleplaying but I would like to award exxperiance for the various contest. Since there is little threat of death in the joust or th foot melee I am thinking about 1/2 or 1/3rd xp for those encounters. But what about rewards for other contest, like the archery contest, etc, should thier be an xp award for winning those events? Since i plan to roleplay these events out it seems likethere should be some reward from an xp point of view. Ideas on how to scale these?
Now leaving out my 3.0 to present question -- Why is the spear 2 handed? Is their a way to build a spear and shield fighter? Not a half spear and shield, but a spear and shield, like a Hoplite, or of numerous other historical combatants? The spear was a primary weapon throughout history, and it certianly was not normally used with a shield. Many troops actually used long spears and shields. Is there a feat I am missing? or some other way to do this? |
