Here is my application.
I hope I'm not too late. :D

Background:

Born from an ancient elven Family, Elk’lyn was banished from home while still a child. She carried an ancient curse in her blood. The little elf was able to see in the dark, and the family patriarch, would not tolerate that dishonor in his house.

For many and many years, she lived in the streets on a human city, often hiding during the day and going out during the night. Elk’lyn loved climbing to the highest place she could find and stare at the moon and stars, she did not remember anything from her family beliefs, or any cursed bloodline, but she loved the moon, the stars and the light.

The years passed and she began to use her knowledge of human cities to get a job as guide. Often she did not received anything for her services, for she was still a ‘child’, but she was patience and in time, she began to work for a caravan master as a guard trainee. She was fast both in mind and body but frail, so they trained her to use bows and other kind of weapons. The scarce training she had as a child in her elven home came back to her and Elk’lyn was able to master the use of many weapons, melee or long range.

Elk’lyn lived with that caravan for many years. The caravan master and his wife took her as hey daughter, and for the first time, she knew what was to have a family.

During one fated trip to the distant city of Sandpoint, her caravan ambushed during the night. Elk’lyn was the one supposed to be on lookout, but caught off-guard while staring at the stars, they could muster little resistance and soon were slaughtered. The bandits, believing the elf was dead, left her on the road.

Elk’lyn awaked days later in Sandpoint, to find that only she had survived the attack. Obsessed with the bandits that killed her parents, Elk’lyn stayed in the town, learning its secrets and trying to get information that could help her to track the killers. She was a frequent presence at The Rusty Dragon, and once, after Elk’lyn had drowned her sorrows in booze, Ameiko, the lovely Ameiko, was able to get out of the elf her history.

It did not take long then. With the Sheriff Hemlock help, Shalelu tracking skills and Kendra resources, they found the bandies and brought then to justice.

Now, Elk’lyn lives in the town, she has a debit to pay, and even though Ameiko always says she only did what was right, but the right thing that it saved Elk’lyn.

Appearance and Personality:

Slim, pale elf with black eyes, almost white.

Being abandoned by her elf family and then later blaming herself for herself for the death of her human family has left Elk’lyn with some serious scars.
She is quick to smile and dismiss things she doesn’t like as joke or unimportant. Almost never really reveals what she is thinking and has trust issues.

Once she gives her trust it’s absolute to the point of paranoia.
Some would say the elf is crazy.

Standard Racial Traits

  • Ability Score Racial Traits: Elves are nimble, both in body and mind, but their form is frail. They gain +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence, and –2 Constitution.
  • Size: Elves are Medium creatures and thus receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
  • Type: Elves are Humanoids with the elf subtype.
  • Base Speed: Elves have a base speed of 30 feet.
  • Languages: Elves begin play speaking Common and Elven. Elves with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Celestial, Draconic, Gnoll, Gnome, Goblin, Orc, and Sylvan. See the Linguistics skill page for more information about these languages.
  • Keen Senses: Elves receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.
  • Elven Immunities: Elves are immune to magic sleep effects and gain a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells and effects.
  • Elven Magic: Elves receive a +2 racial bonus on caster level checks made to overcome spell resistance. In addition, elves receive a +2 racial bonus on Spellcraft skill checks made to identify the properties of magic items.
  • Weapon Familiarity: Elves are proficient with longbows (including composite longbows), longswords, rapiers, and shortbows (including composite shortbows), and treat any weapon with the word “elven” in its name as a martial weapon.
  • Low-Light Vision: Elves can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.

Alternate Racial Traits

  • Darkvision: Though uncommon, some groups of elves are born with darkvision, rather than low-light vision. In many cases this is taken as a sign of a drow in the elf's ancestry, and can lead to persecution within the elf's home community. Elves with this racial trait gain darkvision with a range of 60 feet, but also gain sensitivity to light and are dazzled in areas of bright light or within the radius of a daylight spell. This racial trait replaces low-light vision.
  • Lightbringer: Many elves revere the sun, moon, and stars, but some are literally infused with the radiant power of the heavens. Elves with this racial trait are immune to light-based blindness and dazzle effects, and are treated as one level higher when determining the effects of any light-based spell or effect they cast (including spell-like and supernatural abilities). Elves with Intelligence scores of 10 or higher may use light at will as a spell-like ability. This racial trait replaces the elven immunities and elven magic racial traits.

Hey, interested.

I have this character made for a Jade Regent game that ended in TPK near the end of the book1.

I would love to continue playing her.
I'll re-work her background and crunch and post it in a few hours.

Basically it's an Urban-ranger with some party-face/detect skills.

Tyr* wrote:
With only one healer maybe we should have tried to hold Gundar back from combat, at least initially. But that was not his build or inclination.

I understand the player point of view, but this is much like to me about online MMO RPG thinking: “You each have a predetermined role and you cannot leave it.”

I think that the character motivation should dictate how he acts, not his ‘role’ in the party; also, an outgoing Gromff was much more funny and enjoyable for us, and the player, than a held back dwarf, even if a held back dwarf could have saved us! :D

@DM

Thanks for the game! Even though it ended that way, it was fun while it lasted!

I'll certainly apply for your next game, if you would have me. :)

What is wrong? What is this darkness? What happened? No, it cannot end like this… I had so much to do… Ameiko! I can’t leave her!

Down and bleeding, but not for long, the elf remains, until their enemy return to finish off the job. Glaring down at the elf, it says ”I said I would kill each of you.” and that’s the last thing the unconscious elf hear, before the sword comes down, piercing her skull, ending her life.
Wow, first TPK ever!

Ouch, the Dice roller does not like me! Took me some rounds, but here I am as well!

Con: 1d20 ⇒ 19 man..., at least I'm not dieing anymore...

I'm not sure how is the map atm, I'll post actions for Bow and Sword. Bow if I can use it without AoO, Sword if using the bow gives and AoO

Using the Bow:

Elk'lyn tries to walk back, giving some space between her and the noosy, while shooting another arrow at him.

"Step closer, prove you do as I command!" she says remembering those times at her childhood when she avoided some punishment, daring her assailer to do as she had said. It worked with children, because they loath to ‘do what someone else orders you to do’. But she pretty much doubts this tactic would save her now.
Atk: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 1 - 1 = 21
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 6

Using the Sword:

Being unable to use her weapon of choice, she holds the bow with only one hand and pulls free her sword, using it to attack the noosy. Surprisingly she hits and she does not lose opportunity to mock her enemy.

”See? Even with this pitiful sword I can hurt you! You are going down!” she says trying to fake a confidence she don’t have.
Move to draw the sword, Standard to attack, 5ft to move into R24
Atk: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

DM, Sorry I forgot to put on my last post, but Elk’lyn AC atm is 20. That attack should not have hit me.

"Gettaway from me!" the elf yells, panicking when the Noosy comes closer.

Taking a step back 5ft to Q24, she shoot her last magical arrow.
Atk: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 1 - 1 = 28
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 6

Oh, good attack roll, but minimum damage. Man, this dice roller hates me!

Shield of Faith 8/10 rounds. Elk'lyn +2 AC, Total AC: 20

And the Dice roller does not help...

Hiding beghind the wall to get some cover from her eneny Elk'lyn shoots once more...

"Bet you are falling first, noosy!"

Atk: 1d20 + 9 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 9 - 1 + 1 = 15
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 2 + 1 = 8

The stronger of them fell, what chance did she have? For a brief moment, Elk’lyn consider fleeing from the place, if only to return later, with help, but that would certainly means Ulf an Gundar death.

”No yet…” she think picking up a potion from her belt and drinking it.

Drink Shield of faith potion, +2 on AC and take a 5ft step to the northeastern square.

DM, can I have the result of the spell, before posting my action?

"Wizard, can you take him up?" she says pointing to the dwarf and moving inside the room to shoot the enemy Ulf is facing, deep down, she is real troubled. Were the huge warrior to fall, she and the Wizard wouldn’t be a match for the other.

Atk: 1d20 + 9 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 9 - 1 + 1 = 19
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 + 1 = 6

Elk'lyn was about to shoot when the beast fell to Ulf and Tyr attacks.

Without thinking she stepped forward, prodding at the dwarf belt, where he had earlier stored the potion they had found. She hopped it wasn't too late, but there was no time to check.
Taking the potion, she drowns it in the dwarf mouth, hopping to see any reaction at all.

Taking a 5ft step forward. Move to get the potion from Gundar belt potion, standard to use it.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Since Tyr and Ulf acts before me in the initiative order, I'll wait to see what they do, before posting my action.

Gromff, If you die, I'll kill you!

Ely'lyn sees the dwarf fall and for a brief moment, fear takes over her and she looses an arrow far from it's intended mark.

"Ulf! Close the damn door!" she yells, trying to think how to turn things around.

Atk: 1d20 + 9 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 1 = 10
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 = 5

Elk'lyn moves out of the ogre range and stay posted to shoot at the Oni in case he tries to wave any magic against the group.

Atk: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4

Moving to S-23 and ready an action to attack the Oni in case he use any spell/spell like ability

Elk'lyn takes a step back, and gets in full defence, still being threatened by the big monster To R24, AC 22.

After everyone get's ready to act, Elk'lyn open the door, to allow the fighters enter the place and smash (or be smashed) by whatever is inside.

Use my move to open the door.

Elk'lyn takes the front of the group as she searches the double door for any threat or trap.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Then, after that, she put to unlock it, if it's locked and stop to listen again, before opening it.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

"Where to now, Gundy?" the elf asks her personal compass, waiting until they decide where they should move next.

Sorry for the lack of update. I'll try to get back on track.

"There are two 5-inch-diameter circular depressions in the walls to the left and right of the portcullis, faintly inscribed with an image of the sun to the left and the moon to the right. Let me see if there's any device we can use to open it, because I have no idea what those depressions are."

Take 20 on perception to search, and if I find any device, take 20 to disable it.

"That was a good chance we missed!" complains the elf after the monster fled.

"We should hurry to the lower floor, that’s where the other one said the noosey was, correct?"

"Why can't you just die?" exasperated, the elf yells as she shoots once more.

Atk: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 9 + 1 - 1 = 22
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 11

Magic arrow: 3/4.

"Hey don't you go dying on me Gundar!" Elk'lyn says as she shoots once more.

Atk: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 9 + 1 - 1 = 18
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 11

@Gm

Happy DM's day! And thanks for running this game for us! :)

With the element of surprise lost, Elk'lyn moves out of her hiding place, and take a shoot at the monster, using one of the magic arrows.

Atk: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 9 + 1 - 1 = 23 +2 to hit and dmg if he is somehow human. :P
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 13

Attack then move to X-31

That'll do. I'll be hiding on X-27, taking 20 for 29 in Stealth. I mean, we have time to prepare ourselves, so it's viable to take 20 to hide, right?

Elk'lyn takes her time and prepares herself for the coming battle. Her intention is to finish it as soon as possible, and because of that, she prepares the magical arrows Tyr gave her, long time ago, when they were still exploring the Goblins Den.

"No, no! We need to hide. What ambush would it be if he saw us?" the elf asks, not really agreeing with Ulf suggestion.

"I don't think we need to rest." the elf says "Let's finish this now." she adds

Sorry about my missed post. For some reason it does not marked as having new posts.

He is grumpy, but he is our grumpy! Stop right there! the elf walks her bow in hand, trained in the bird face.

No touching, speak first.

If she continues to touch and Tyr does not stop me:

Seeing the bird woman did not heed her warnings, Elk'lyn shoot, and her intention, to kill.
Atk: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 9 + 1 - 1 = 10
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 = 5

...

But maybe, the gods want the elf dead...

”Ulf, for now, it’s best if you keep that sword. You are better with it than me.” she says tapping the bow and indicating what she was best at.

Then, after kick glance, two other options, up or down?
”So, back up? Or down again?”

Atk(Deadly Aim): 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 9 + 1 - 1 = 19
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 9

With Ulf live essense being drained, the elf put more into her shots, hoping to bring the creature down,

"Urgh, why can't it be a normal monster for a change! Goblins! Everyone knows that goblins love abandoned castles!" says the elf as the attacks.

Atk: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 +1 to hit and to damage if closer than 30ft.
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Maybe we should explore near the throne. There was a door we skiped last time. Elk'lyn suggests as she moves into the big throne hallway.

Leaving the room, using the door on Q27. My intention is to go and explore the door on I34

I would vote against that. Play by Post is great due to character interaction. I don't find amusing going from combat to combat.

But that's my opinion anyway.

It was mostly RP. From the character point of view, the boss is always at the top, the most difficult place to go. So Elk'lyn wanted to go up. Only for me, it's not clear if there's any other higher floor.

Feeling miserable with herself, Elk'lyn follows the big one.
And who said he is the boss? Some minutes ago he could not even open a single door, do you think we forgot any here in this floor? she asks while they descend the stairs.

"Can't we go up? I'm lost here." admits the elf, after a brief moment.

Sorry for being away.

Brazilian Carnival. I was more than drunk. Apologies.

Elk'lyn chuckles at the dwarf words and prepares to open the door, when Ulf and Gundar are ready to move in.

Urgh, bird shit. Damn
The elf reluctantly searches the place for anything of value, trying not to touch anything too wasted.

Then she proceeds to search the doors north of the table, from right to left, starting at the one nearer the double door. starting to look at the doors from the one in K31

Perception(Room): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Perception(K31): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Perception(L30): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Perception(L28): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Perception(N28): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

"Let's check ahead." says Elk'lyn accepting the arrows and storing it.

"Save if for later friend Gundar. Hurt I may be, but you already helped enough." says the elf when the dwarf offers more healing.

Then, she sets to the small door and whisper "let's explore this first"

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 +10 for searching traps...

... and after confirming there's no danger at all, she is ready to open the small door.

"Thanks, it was dumb of my to go ahead." even if I wanted just to protect "You, should let me help" she says to Ulf.

search the dead body and room : 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

-Posted with Wayfinder

The elf attacks only half-hearted, after seeing Gundar And Ulf deal with the monster.

Atk: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 9 + 1 = 11
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 = 8

Even feeling sick and hurt, the elf continues in her attempt to bring down the creature.

Atk: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 1 - 1 = 27
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 7

Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

As the wave of negative energy washes over her, the elf steps back, hurt, dying, feeling sick.

Her body aching from pain and the injuries caused by the spell coupled with the evil energy is too much. She steps over her bow and tries to pick it up, only to spill her guts all over the floor.

Withdraw, to where I dropped the bow.

@Battle

Urgh, Immagonna die!

Boss, Let me just clarify something:
Got hit by a spell in the wand. Not sure about the spell but seems like Inflict moderate wounds, if that's so, would it not give me a will save to take half damage?

One other question: Using the wand to attack me with the spell would not be considered an 'attack' and thus activating my readied action to attack it back?

Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Cool! I want that cape! I just need to convince them not do ”damage it, if you…” but she trails off when she see their blank stare What’s this? Magic? If he is a mage…

Without giving any other though about it, Elk’lyn moves forward trying to keep herself between danger and her allies, at least until they are functional again, dropping her bow as she moves into the room, drawing her sword, she stops just beside the monster, holding the sword in both hands, prepared to attack if he tries anything.
Moving to Y33,Readied action to attack if he tries to attack me or cast any spell.
”What have you done to them?” she yells.

Truth be told? I’m screwed, but I’m hoping her for a readied action AND an AoO if he tries to cast a spell.

Hey there! There’s a big system delivery planned for next week for our company branch in India, a Project I’ve been struggling with for a couple of months now.

Alongside with that, we are moving an entire project from testing to Live servers, and I’m the one responsible to help with this transition and solve any issue that may (and believe me, will) appear with it.

I still have some things to finish before we are ready to do this, and I’m sure I don’t want to be the one blamed for any delays, and thus because of that, things may get a bit tricky for the next weeks, coupled with university terms starting as well next week.

Anyway, I’ll try to keep posting to at least 1/day. However, if you don’t hear from me for a day or two, I blame the events that I described above.

"Why are you asking that? The door will not open by itself!" laughs the elf "I think it'll not take long until it's open." she says taking a step back and preparing to shoot anything behind the door.

Readied action:

Atk: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
