Darya is a Primordian, about which the Sea Kings have warned The People. She cannot be trusted.

Description
Like most "Halflings" (they call themselves The People) Eli is a bit short of three feet tall, with skin the colour of black coffee, extremely powerful legs, and slightly elongated and webbed fingers and toes. His pale green eyes, adapted to the murky depths, have pinprick pupils abovewater, and his waist-length black hair is held back by a colourful scarf. Numerous hoop earrings flash as he moves, and patterns of decorative burn scars encircle his arms and legs. He wears a stylish leather doublet covered in shiny metal plates, and loose breeches of once fine brocade. A sturdy rapier and numerous small knives hang about his waist, and a grin about his lips.

Backstory
Eli is the son of two Sea Kings (see The Tragedy of the Halflings), powerful and respected pillars of The People. As their son, he was of course expected to learn the chants, control the seas and it's creatures, and reenforce the stringent control under which The People live. Eli however felt the bonds of such a predetermined life chafe at an early age. He inhaled the stories told by the occasional trader from the Ocean People, and developed an "unnatural and unhealthy" fascination with the surface and its people.

With no small amount of difficulty, and no small amount of help from friends among the Ocean People, he fled his underwater home, adopted a name with a nice ring to it, and fashioned his new self after the dashing heroes of his favorite stories.

Needless to say, when Eli ascended to the surface, he was quite naive. He dreamed of crewing on a ship and living a romantic life of adventure on the high seas. What actually happened was he was shanghaied and forced to crew as a near slave on a pirate ship.

With The People's history of slavery, Eli was an extremely uncooperative crew member, and punished harshly for it. Still, he managed to learn his way around the ship, and bided his time until an opportunity for escape presented itself. It didn't go exactly as planned, and he was forced to kill the ship's first mate to get away. Needless to say, the captain and his crew would be glad to get their hands on Eli again.

Sailors talk, and Captain Kale was always spoken of as strong but fair to his crew, so Eli stowed away on the Eye of the Storm, battered and sick, in the hopes of finding a new home on the seas.
