So Fox, did you assume a Take 10 for Ederion on those rolls, or should I roll? And sorry Bazzle, I did not realize those two missions actually were meld into a single one? I tried processing everything but it is just too much info :P "I..." - Ederion looks at his notes again, then around at all the parallel conversations taking place, and simply shrugs - "I do not know. If they are busy, I guess we will see what to do next, when they are not" - he chuckles.

-- Still the previous night -- Ederion tried to find an 'off the way' cot where Areene and Ondisso can bunk down for now, while they get acquainted - "I will be closeby" - he informed them both - "I still have some reading to do" Then he spends some time going over his notes about Areene's condition, and notes down the hypothesis running in his head, and any other notes which make sense to him at the moment. He is not trained in Heal, so he will engage with Rexandi and Aster on this as soon as the chance presents itself. Knowledge (Arcana) Take 20: 20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ 20 + 7 + (1) = 28 < He will enlist Rexandi's assistance with this one, when she is available. Alchemy Take 20: 20 + 13 + 1d6 ⇒ 20 + 13 + (4) = 37 < He will enlist Bazzle's assistance with this one, when he is available ------------------------- -- The next morning -- Continuing on his role of caretaker, Ederion will guide Areene and Ondisso as best as he can, showing them where the breakfast table is located. At the meeting he points - "During our travel here, we were helped by a group of Elves - I would like to repay their help by offering some of our own" - he points out - "Would it be possible to send a small group to investigate the Shrine of Saint Sanex? Just a scouting visit, and no action to be taken - information gathering only" < The Outlaws maybe? Do they have a name? We do not address them as outlaws, right? :D Fox, one question - I am assuming from the tasks available, we can either carry them out ourselves, or try and find a group which can be 'assigned/requested' to carry it out, yes? If so, then we should also be deciding on what our group will carry out. Is that correct? "I also think rescuing the Lictor should be a priority, since he is risking torture or even execution - we should take care of this as soon as the new recruits have joined us I think. It is high risk" - he suggests also, looking around at his closest companions. "Then I would invest in rescuing the supporters who have been kidnapped - not only I hate the idea of them being under arrest and mistreated, but I think rescuing them can be a double blow - good to all our morale, and to show we do not stand still when our own are captured" - the elf continues - "I would send our (insert Mercenary Team name - I could not find it sorry :P) to take care of this" He looks around, then again at his own notes - "The rest of the available forces, I would focus on scouting further the Lucky Bones for a future move, and 'helping the Rebellion' as much as possible" - and pauses with a shrug and a smile - "Those would be my two cents :D Another question, does it make sense to send two teams (example: Mercenaries + Revolutionaries) on one task? Ederion will also want to buy a scroll of Remove Blindness, to use on Areene. After consulting with Aster and Rexandi. He believes if they can remove the blindness from one of the eyes, it will be a huge jump as far as quality of life goes for Areene. Knowledge (Local) to know where and if such a scroll could be purchased/ordered?: 1d20 + 9 + 1d6 ⇒ (16) + 9 + (4) = 29 < If he remembers/finds a place, the idea is to go there after picking up the new recruits.

Welcome aboard guys - good to have you with us! --- On the loot front, and I know it is expensive, but we should perhaps think about buying some consumables with those main buffs/debuffs we are recurrently missing? Stuff that comes to mind: - Ray of enfeeblement
I know stuff like this is usually not considered optimal to invest with (not all of them are as useful), but some of these can make total difference for harder encounters. Also, we should look into condition removal scrolls/wands - I don't think we have a means to remove any of them? What do you all think?
Current AC: 22
Ooooph! Are Bottles of Air THAT expensive?!On afterthought maybe we can sell them , we will surely need the money. Same thing about the Raise Dead Scroll to be honest. Keep only the pick and rope? I don't have any water-related gear, but if I did I would not sell it - we have been underwater a LOT (so maybe keep one bottle after all?):P

-- Retcon from last night 1 -- Ederion stood up with Areene and Ondisso for as long as they would like - he figured they would need some respite from the horrors they had been through, and he was happy to help with that. DM Hell's Fox wrote:
"Family you say? I don't see it... Yet. Or maybe I am looking at it the wrong way" - he shrugs and drinks some more wine. "As for finding a job, I think you can now enjoy your freedom, and do whatever you would like my friend" - he offers a toast to Ondisso, and clinks his glass softly on Areene's - "Any help you can offer will surely be welcomed, but you are not indebted to any of us here - we have rescued you because you should have not been imprisoned, and that is it. If you would like to find a job, that is fully up to you. If you want to help this mismatched group or instead simply leave and look for other life opportunities, it is also up to you" - he smiles - "That is the beauty of it" Question time: Where exactly do we sleep? Also, where will Areene and Ondisso sleep? ----------------------- My next retcon will be about the Handy Specimen Bottle, Areene's recovery, and the egg - He will start doing his Investigator 'thing', and approach these methodically, so he will want to know all he can about it - example: Areene:

DM Hell's Fox wrote: I've already started the new day. We're in a meeting at the moment. I've given a little opportunity for someone in the party to talk, but otherwise I'll move to the next part of the meeting. I have some stuff for the previous evening, I will retcon when I can. Actually I have quite some stuff, but some of it is OOC - I think I will post it one at a time? Apologies for not posting before - I have been having really bad working weeks.

Hey Aster, here is the stuff I think we should keep from the Loot List: - 3 doses of Myrrh
I do not think Ederion can actually use the skin himself. Or it would not bring him much benefit, so that is a pass for me. Obviously I would like to keep the Handy Specimen Bottle :D Looking at the Recruitment thread now.

Hmmm, the more I think about it, the more I am convinced the main issue here is (ironically) the fact we are actually not galvanized around a common goal. Like I said before, I do not get a sense we are rebels, and I do not think the group actually acts like freedom fighters/rebel rousers (a lot of individual reasons have already been pointed out for this in discussion I guess :D). Rexandi pointed out we share the same 'end goal' but I think even that is... Meh. I don't get the sense any of the characters (myself included) actually feel that strongly toward the rebellion itself? Or maybe I am just not paying attention. Aster Cobblestone wrote: Ed, you took the Handy Specimen Bottle correct? Yep ;) Rexandi Vatia wrote: I agree that Bazzle should have the bag of holding! I also want to put Ederion forward for this role - not to tote my own horn, but I believe I have been the one paying more attention (and using) our loot over the course of the adventure? :D Also Ederion tends to pick up and carry with him all possible odds and ends he can use/catalog as reagents. No biggie though, I guess we will have some cash to grab an extra handy haversack anyway ;)

DM Hell's Fox wrote: The Halfling tells Ederion that Rexus is in the storage room. When Ederion enters, Rexus looks up and smiles wide. "Ha! Welcome back Ederion. How are you? How did your mission with the mermaids go?" Ederion would not go to the guy right away - he wants to stay with Areene for now, and make sure she is well. I believe no one is attending to where she and Ondisso will be staying, and who will be looking after Areene mainly? Depending on how things develop, he will most likely stay with Areene and Ondisso this night (and most likely the few next ones). For now: "I have brought us a drink, so we can all relax at least for a few moments" - Ederion sits down with both Areene and Ondisso - "I did not know your favorites, so I managed to grab some red wine - it is a universal one" - he chuckles, and signals Bazzle to join them, after Rexandi and Aster have left. He pours them each a glass, and helps the woman by guiding the drink to her mouth. He will describe to her the place where they are as best as he can, and then to both her and Ondisso, he will relay the info he has about each individual, trying to paint a mental picture - "Truth be told... I know less than half the people here too" - the elf smiles.

I think we need buffs and debuffs, a frontliner/tank, and a ranged damage dealer :D So mechanics wise, I think the group has a lot of holes, which is not to say groups do not function perfectly with holes. If I could choose one characteristic for a new recruit to join our game would be the ability to bring us together - I think all the players and characters are cool, but I do not think we are actually a group. Some of us are closer here and there, but that is it. Also, and I am not sure if this goes toward what Bazzle pointed out - I do not feel we are rebels, but not because of how the game is being presented by Fox, just because of... Ourselves I think. Sorry, don't really know how to explain it any better :P
Current AC: 22
I do not want to put everything on you Fox, but a list of tasks would be amazing - if you think it is pushing it, please let us know and we can set up the task list ourselves of course. Ederion listens in on the conversation, but goes to check the clockwork box contraption - "Who managed to get this working?" - he asks from the closest person.

He could hear the goblin yaps well ahead of them before the group even got close to the encampment, so he decided to inform the others, quaff a potion of invisibility, and simply pick out the best path around them unnoticed. Pass by the Goblin tribe, Invisible, Stealth: 1d20 + 12 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 12 + 20 = 33 As the group moves through the swamp, Ederion tries to stay off the main party, scouting ahead or to the sides, where he can get a broader view, and anticipate any danger. Spot traps or ambushes, Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (14) + 17 = 31 Coming across a particularly nasty patch to navigate through, the nimble elf vaults across fallen logs, and sets a rope line on the other side, which the others can use to brace while traversing. Traverse difficult terrain, Acrobatics: 1d20 + 14 + 1d6 ⇒ (18) + 14 + (6) = 38

I say we give Tasha some more time - she was a great character! And Fox, let me see if I understood this correctly - you want us to choose obstacles (out of 9), hopefully more than one, and then come up with creative ways our characters can help the group overcome those obstacles. So descriptive posts + rolls for each encounter we think we may be helpful? That is going to take a long while, at least from my end - I am having a stupid busy week at work :/

Izkrael:
"That my friend is impressive" - Edrion smiled at the magical display - "And clearly an honor - my congratulations on having been bestowed with such a gift. I am sure it was well deserved" At the shallows, Ederion follows after the others, assisting Areene and Ondisso if necessary. We are rolling Perception?: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23

Izkrael: "To be honest... I had never thought about it, until very recently" - Ederion replies - "I just take in the experience, as I try to do with all, and make the most of it. Or at least that is the plan" - he smiles - "This other... Feeling that I may actually not belong, is very recent. So I haven't really given it much thought yet" - the elf shrugs.
"Can I ask you one question? Why do you all carry arrows and no bows?" - Ederion is smiling again.

Ederion hesitates a lot before partaking in the food and drink, waiting until he sees the elves eating and drinking from the same as they are doing. Once he is sure, he eats with a smile on his lips - "Well met, I am Ederion" - he nods - "Thank you for the kind words, the food and the drink - we still have a long path ahead of us"

My anger was not aimed at you... or better put, shouldn't be aimed at you." she'll give a low formal bow "Please accept my apologies." "It is all good Aster - your apologies are accepted. Next time I will also try to pace myself, and be less of a loudmouth" - the elf smiles. -- Now -- Ederion nods at elder Maraedlara, then looks to Aster.

The elf stares around at his companions, listening to each one's opinion - "Do not even bother answering" - he turns to the kobold again, no smiling this time - "It seems the deal was just my hopeful thinking, and has not found traction among my friends" - he chuckles grimly, drawing his blade and moving closer to their foe - "So it is off even before it was settled. For you there are no future alternatives or redemption - only death" - the elf finishes, plunging his weapon through the creature's heart. He is tied, but if CDG is needed: Damage: 1d6 + 1d6 + 12 + 12 + 3 ⇒ (1) + (2) + 12 + 12 + 3 = 30 Assuming he dies: After Arzhun draws his last breath, Ederion cleans his weapon, removes the rope from the dead body, retrieves the valuables looted from the kobold king, and turns to his companions - "Do you wish to change the location of our camp site for tonight?" |
