I have a good story: I was in Lake Geneva on my way (big roadtrip from CA, long story) to GenCon 2000 and I stopped by the local game shop. Who was working the counter? None other than Ernie Gygax! I kid you not. So we got to talking and Ernie said he'd lived in LA for awhile in the 80's when he was a consultant on the DnD cartoon. His job was to make sure everything in the cartoon matched up to the game, such as monsters. Well I had recently seen some bootlegs of the old cartoon so I asked him, "Well what about DemoDragon?" (DemoDragon appeared in an episode wherein the kids were trapped in a fortress under seige by Venger who summoned DemoDragon to break down the doors. DemoDragon was big as the fortress itself and looked like a cross between DemoGorgon and Tiamat: 2 dragon heads, 4 cloven hooves, and tentacles.) Not in the MM, Fiend Folio or anywhere! So stumped Ernie Gygax! He had let it slide... To this day I doubt there's stats for DemoDragon, but there should be, he kicked Venger's butt!
Kasmut, or Kas, as he is often called for short, is a dark skinned young man from the east. His time in the sun shows as he has a hearty build to him. He is not overly bothered by either the desert heat of the day or the chill of the evening. He is often engrossed in his studies and sometimes forgets to eat and drink for long periods of time. Though his personality has been somewhat dimmed by the time he spent studying dusty tomes, learning abroad from his western cousins in the heart of Egypt has only somewhat dimmed his personality. He does not mind long quiet stretches as this grants him time to read. He has a quiet personality and laugh to match. He is fairly easy to get along with.
The idea of death does not seem to bother him overtly as he is used to it while studying the religion of Anubis and the prophecies of the dead. but he secretly harbors a fear that his brilliant mind will one day be gone from the world that he knows.
Background:
Spoiler:
Though he hails from the eastern Moor lands, his upbringing as a nomad while traveling along the Nile rivers helped him in learning all he could. He took to strict tutelage of the dusty scholars like a fish to water.
Any and all mysteries of the world Kasmut was eager to learn and his mind was open to all things. Whether it was learning new things of the world or ancient arts and understandings. He trained briefly as a medical student but his true passion lay in the strange and ancient arts of Alchemy.
He grew fascinated by the arts and myths surrounding funeral rites and canopic mummification of the pharoes of old. As such he began his intrinsic study into a new world which he was only just beginning.
