Female Dwarf Arcane Duelist 1

Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 (additional +2 on saving throw against poison, spells and spell-like abilities if applicable)

Sigh... I always seem to roll low at the worst times. Hopefully this won't be too bad, haha!

Female Dwarf Arcane Duelist 1

"We can try findin' another way out. Maybe a back door?" Durida doesn't seem to like the idea of exploring more of this seemingly haunted place, but it may be there best chance at escaping.

Female Dwarf Arcane Duelist 1

Durida speaks quietly in response to Kiley. "I saw somethin; rather unpleasant... I saw a man bein' hanged and I thought it was me. Which is ridiculous 'cause obviously I am no man. I think it must be th' man that was on trial."

Durida sighs in relief a little as the healing energy washes over her and thanks Kiley for her aid. But her relief turns to confusion at Kiley's sudden breakdown with Aciera. Listening in to their conversation, Durida was always something of a gossip, she lends a few comforting words to Kiley as well. "Come, we should all be movin', now." She nods to Aciera as well and then realizes she hasn't introduced herself. Proffering her hand for a shake to anyone who is willing to take it, she says, "Me name is Durida Valhig."

Busy day yesterday... Hopefully I'll be able to post more often. And sorry about the confusion with the axe/debris.

Female Dwarf Arcane Duelist 1

Sorry, I won't be able to post too often on weekends.

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

"Ouch!" Durida cries out in a little bit of pain as some of the debris flies out at her. She takes a large chunk right in the side and the pain almost doubles her over. She manages to keep her footing, and inspects the new wound. "Oh my..."

HP: 5/10

Female Dwarf Arcane Duelist 1

Intelligence: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Hanged? Like in my dream... Should probably try and get some more information. The more I know, the better. I'm so confused...

Durida speaks to the man. "What was his crime?"

Female Dwarf Arcane Duelist 1

Durida wakes up slowly as a timid voice calls out "Uh, hello? Are you all okay?" She sits up, and nothing appears to be aching her. Where am I? she thinks. This is a courthouse... I'm in the jury box, and yes, there is the young lady who called out.

Durida sits up while looking around and answers the young lady. "I think I am a'right. Are ye okay? What is goin' on?"

Durida is a round Dwarven woman with curly black hair. She may look rough in appearance, but those who get to know her quickly learn she is very motherly. Her tone does appear to be matronly towards any who speak to her.

Female Dwarf Arcane Duelist 1

Hello everyone, should be fun! I'll do a once over on my character before we start, but I think she's basically ready.

The point buy is the following:

You're right, I screwed up somewhere (except buying a 7 actually gets you -4 points, not -3, so its not quite that bad).

New point buy:

16-14-11-11-7-15 (which is 10+5+1+1+(-4)+7 = 20)

Results in the following after racial and age:

15-13-12-12-10-14

Thanks for the look over, I'll go correct her alias now.

This is DukeRuckley with his Female Dwarven Bard... Okay, this was a challenge! The mostly finalized stats (needs a once over to make sure I haven't screwed something up) are in her alias.

I thought I'd go through my thought process a little bit behind this challenge. After all, Dwarves are probably the race least suited for bard (-2 to the main stat, and +2 to two other stats that aren't very important to a bard).

I knew I wanted to focus on strength, as the archetype is an arcane duelist, which is sort of similar to a magus in feel. I could have gone with a more dexterous route, but thought that a dwarf would just feel stronger, so I potentially sacrificed a little bit of optimization for flavor there.

I also knew that I would need to have a decent Charisma (eventually a 16 to use the higher level spells). A 14 in charisma gets me up to level 10 before running into trouble with spells. Problem is, dwarves have an inherent -2 to Cha, so I would need to start with at least a 15 in the stat (which would drop it to 13).

I had originally come up with three different stat arrays to consider (in order STR-DEX-CON-INT-WIS-CHA):

1) 15-12-12-12-9-15
2) 15-13-13-13-9-14
3) 16-13-13-13-9-13

I was originally planning to use the third array and just make sure to increase charisma at each opportunity. But then I remembered that I could play a middle aged character and end up with a -1 to all physical stats and +1 to all mental. I came up with one more array, which is what I went with: 15-13-13-13-10-14

So the plan is to bump strength at the fourth level (the 14 gets me through 10th level, so I can just bump it up at 8th level and then again at 12th level, which will be enough).

The character is extremely not optimal, but an interesting experience nonetheless! She'll have some trouble until probably third level when I can take another feat (toughness looks especially important). I may swap out the extra performance feat for weapon focus right away... I'm not sure. I hope the use of the Dorn-Dergar helps bring her combat ability up a little and gives her an interesting take for a bard.

Imagine encounter a hefty female dwarf, singing at the top of her lungs to inspire her companions, while attacking you with a large ball of iron on a long chain that is infused with arcane energy!

I don't have a backstory put together yet, but if you would like one, let me know.
