Ravenmoor Village Center | Ravenmoor South | Ravenmoor North

Jeminda Anikee's residence is perched on the fringes of the Captial district, and proves much more agreeable than the Drunken Dog. The bottle of claret she opens is better than anything on offer in that rank and gloomy place, though she does not offer any further libation once it is exhausted. After choosing the four of you from amid the bustle of adventurers for hire, she has invited you here to discuss the details of the job, not fit to be overheard by any wandering stray with loose lips and looser morals. Her apartment is small but neatly furnished with efficient and impersonal furniture, a blocky table and five matching chairs, an uncomfortable divan and grey ottoman, the kinds of things you don't inherit. Fidgeting with her tablecloth, she offers you a little black pudding and some crusty bread.

"There is one critically important detail you should know before you set off," she says after working up the courage, "the tax collector was my brother in law."

Hi all,

Looking forward to gaming with you. What I plan to do over the next couple of days:

Review and finalize crunch with each of you
PM you a discord invite so we can talk ooc more easily
Start gameplay on Monday morning

Regarding crunch, if you could write out BaB, Saves, and AC with parenthesis explaining where the bonuses are coming from, that would be helpful

Additionally, there seems to be some confusion about fractional bonus progression. With this system, you don’t use the class tables. Instead, you use the formulas those tables are derived from, add things together, and then round down once

For example:

You have level 1 wizard /fighter gestalt, and are a wizard after that. Your fort save is good at first level and bad at level 2/3. Your fort save is 2 + 1/2 + 2(1/3) =3.167, round down to 3

Your BaB is full at 1st level and half at level 2 and 3. Your BaB is 1 + 2(1/2) =2

Please ask if you are still confused

Edit: I will add, if you want to change the details of your build, you can do so until Monday. As long as the primary class levels stay the same, you could change:

Secondary class
Point buy
Feats
Spells
Equipment
Etc

Feel free to do so if you feel it would create a more balanced party. I’m mostly ignoring party balance, so that’s up to you

For decades, the tiny village of Ravenmoor has existed quietly on the upper reaches of the Lampblack River, far from the centers of civilization in Varisia. Linked to the outside world only by an overgrown, mostly forgotten trail, the villagers are comfortable with their isolation. Their ways are humble, quaint, and at times odd, and when travelers come, they find the town awkward and unmemorable. Certainly, the lack of a village inn, the oppressive humidity, and the bug-infested moors and swamps that surround the village do little to encourage visitors. When a clerk in the city of Magnimar discovers that, due to a clerical error, the village of Ravenmoor hasn’t paid taxes in years, a tax collector is sent to the distant community to settle accounts with its mayor. When the tax collector fails to return, however, a group of adventurers must travel to the town during its Founders’ Feast celebration to investigate his disappearance.

I'm opening recruitment for the well received module Feast of Ravenmoor by Brandon Hodge

OOC Expectations:

We play this game with words, and I select mine lovingly. I don’t expect anyone to produce phenomenal prose, but I hope that you will sometimes try for a more elevated style, such as by rereading your post before clicking submit and catching that spelling mistake. I will do my best to create an atmospheric and immersive game with elements of horror and investigation. Please plan to post an average of 6 times per week or more. I will set up a discord so we can talk ooc more easily, though it will be optional.

GMing is already hard enough, and I will not make it harder for myself by doing unnecessary work for you. It’s up to you to manage a loot inventory if you want loot. You have the power to scroll back through the game and find that old post which gives you a key clue. You control your own destiny, you shiny sparkling thing

Shoving is encouraged. Specifically, I’m using shoving to refer to posting actions rather than talking about doing something. There seems to be a tendency to post “Should we see what’s behind the door?” Rather than “Gork opens the door.” Open the door, I promise getting eaten by whatever lurks behind will be fun

I would like to murder you

Character Creation:

17 Point Buy - I’m feeling generous
Level 3
Partial Gestalt: Level 1 is a gestalt level, meaning you get all the class features of 2 classes for just that level. Level 2 and 3 are normal levels, meaning you only advance 1 set of class features. You can multiclass however you want, for example, you end up a Fighter 1 / Wizard 1 / Rogue 2. Be clear about what you’re doing
Allowed Classes: All Core, All Unchained, All Hybrid, Alchemist, Inquisitor, Magus, Oracle, Shifter, Witch
Races: I suggest you choose Core but if the concept works a lot better with something else then go for it. Gnomes are prohibited within 200ft of my game, and I’m not about to flaunt the law just for you
3k GP
2 traits - you can take a drawback but you won’t get a 3rd trait <3

House rules:

Firearm rework - this is an experiment
Drawing a two handed weapon is a standard rather than move action, reduced to move with quickdraw
Background skills are in effect
Fractional Bonuses are in effect (add up fractional BaB/Saves then round)
Elephant in the room feat taxes are in effect

This recruitment will be run with some opportunity for RP. Please fill out the below forms IC, and feel free to narrate your character's entrance to the Drunken Dog, thoughts while filling out the forms, etc. An ooc concept/backstory and brief sketch of crunch (you can change things later) are also encouraged. I will try my best to give a little NPC interaction but if there are 20 people applying at once I won't be able to keep up, so I'd encourage you to interact with one another if you want more of a chance to show off your epic roleplaying skillz

Planning to select 4-5 players based on 1) player vibes and 2) character concept. I'll leave things open until around the 24th

What are some spells that might not be regularly useful to an adventurer, but probably would exist in a place like Golarion?

I’ll go first

I can think of a bunch of different spells related to pregnancy/childbirth. Here are some examples:

Artificial insemination; contraception cantrip (24h duration?); safe abortion; way to monitor fetal health; safe delivery with painkiller (I think we can do better than CLW, such as with a cantrip for cheap potions); something that makes breastfeeding easier (ideally for the next week or something); better paternity test

Hi all,

I am thinking that at some point, I'll try running a PbP game on these boards. I plan to use a published adventure for PF1E as this is the system I am comfortable with. I am looking through some, but I figured I would ask two questions:

1) What published PF1E adventure is your favorite/one you want a chance to play via PbP?
2) Would you recommend that adventure to someone who is new to GMing/PbP?

I want to get some experience as a PbP player before I try my hand at running a game, so this will not happen for at least a few months. I don't feel like I have a good grasp of the commitment necessary for PbP, and I don't want to get people's hopes up before I know what I'm doing. Nevertheless, I would like to start reading through a published adventure and figuring out how to make it my own at some point fairly soon. So I figured I'd ask the above questions to help me decide which adventure to read through.
