Well someone should have read more entries before opening threads. Ok, I get it, its just a fre.king wondrous item. Nevertheless, the replies were interesting as was the commotion in the board. I hope for more accuracy in the future. Just to dissolve any presumptions, its not important if I think my description is cool but my players or readers.

I must admit that I ,and some old timers in our table, feel there is a witch- hunt against any effort to give some color. Do not take me for a hater, just wondering what is so wrong with adding a few words on item's background? Sometimes the item is cool because someone cool wore it before you, maybe even cooler than the +99 dragon slaying mace of infinite wishes.

Strafe Bombs (SU):
The alchemist can throw bombs that splash in a 40-foot line rather than affecting a radius. The line starts at the alchemist and extends away from him in the direction he chooses. The alchemist designates one creature in the squares affected by the line to be the target of the bomb and makes his attack roll against that creature; all other squares in the line take splash damage.

Special: If the alchemist has the explosive bomb discovery and throws an explosive strafe bomb, the line of splash damage is 80 feet long instead of 40 feet.

Considering that a normal bomb has a range increment of 20 feet, I would like clarification as to whether or not there is a range penalty for using strafe bomb to hit a target with direct damage at a distance of more than 20 feet away. I have been looking through the forums and was not able to find any specific examples or rulings as to how the range increment is affected.

Example: An alchemist using a strafe bomb chooses a creature exactly 40 feet away from him in a straight line as his direct target. When making his attack roll, does he suffer a -2 range penalty for targeting a creature 40 feet away? If he were to target a creature that was 80 feet away with an explosive strafe bomb, would he suffer a -6 range penalty for the extra 3 range increments needed to reach the target?
