Lydia story:

Within a Temple of Nocticula in Elidir...

A human woman(Lydia) in her mid-twenties with long and flowing dark hair, ice blue eyes, a smooth complexion with pale skin, sits upon what looks like a throne within the temple, one leg propped over the arm of it as she chews on a fingernail, almost seductively, while she waits.

Moments later, three males and one female enter, quickly making their way to her. One of them, a large brute of a half-orc(Drelm), looks as if he was born to fight in a gladiator arena with nothing but his fists, yet, he possesses a large weapon and is fairly well armored. Another one, a dwarf(Durgan), carries a large hammer and a shield and wears a necklace with a holy symbol attached to it. The woman, an elf(Calara), sports a serious demeanor along with a bow on her back. And the last, also an elf(Vincent), is dressed in finery and carries some type of ledger within his hand.

Studying them a moment through narrowed eyes, eventually Lydia speaks. "Well? Did you get him?"

They all turn their attention to the sorcerer who looks back at them before he finally cuts his attention to the woman. "No, mistress, I'm sorry, it appears he's left town. According to my notes," he looks within his ledger, "there was a caravan that came through about 3 days ago. It would appear he joined and left with it. We can't find him at his home, nor anywhere else he's been hiding out."

Staring at them for a long moment, she stops chewing on her fingernail and rises, slowly walking towards them. Stopping just a few feet away, "I gave you all specific instructions to get him for me, and I've paid you well for it. Yet, I've gotten nothing in return." Shaking her head as she paces back and forth in thought and her hands clasped behind her, she stops and cuts her attention sharply to them. "Do you have any idea where this caravan is headed, Vincent?"

Returning to his ledger, "Well, based on the information I collected and the history of past travels, I would say it's headed toward Almas, mistress."

Tapping her chin in thought, "Okay, now, with that being said, would you be able to ascertain the route this caravan traveled and possibly catch it?"

Looking slightly agitated, "Well, yes, of course, mistress. The route would be easy enough to track but as far as catching them, that might prove more difficult. Unless they've had to stop for some reason or another and be stopped for several days."

His agitation going completely unnoticed, "Interesting. Very well. With a caravan, you never know. There are always accidents, stopovers, or various other kinds of issues. I cannot imagine such a long distance can go unhindered. Thank you, Vincent. The effort you've put in gathering this information is exemplary."

Nodding, "Thank you, mistress."

"Now, seeing how you have all failed me over the past three weeks, you are still in my debt. I've paid you well and I've yet to get anything in return. But having said that, I am going to make you a final offer. So, here's the deal, you can either pursue Drake, find him, and make him pay for what he's done to me - in return I shall pay you handsomely - OR, I can find someone else to do the job, and pay them handsomely."

Vincent looks to the others for a moment, a frustrated look about him. "Mistress, is he really worth all of this?"

"SILENCE! DO NOT QUESTION ME!" she explodes, staring daggers at the sorcerer. Slowly making her way over to him, she stares him down the entire way. When she nears him, she politely brushes off his tunic with a couple of sweeps of her hand.

Vincent swallows hard.

Straightening his outfit a moment, she moves her face right up to his and whispers, "You do NOT understand what he has done to me, Vincent, nor do I expect you to. Now, I'm going to forget you even said that. Plus, you have to remember that I am the one paying YOU." Placing a hand upon his cheek, she smiles and pats it a couple of times before leaning back out and returning to the forefront of them all. "So, you've been given an option. The choice is yours and I do not care which you choose. I will find others if I must. So... what's it going to be?" she asks, crossing her arms while sporting a raised eyebrow.

The bottles all have a silvery residue in the bottom that smells strongly of both iron and something...else. Something terribly acrid that burns Drake's nostrils as he sniffs them.

Backstory:

As the caravan makes its leisurely way down the road, the ranger pulls out a piece of paper, unfolds it, and begins to read...

Drake,

We got your message and have a place for you to stay if you're interested. We'd love to have you! It has been a minute. We can head down to the coast and have a few laughs! Drink a little! Maybe do some fishing! You name it. Sorry to hear about how things went south on you in Elider. The lack of steady work makes for tough living to be sure. And women, am I right? Don't tell your aunt I said that. ;) And it does sound like she was nothing but trouble.

The ranger chuckles at that last part, "Oh man if you only knew," while shaking his head. He continues...

Anyway, Almas is a MUCH better city anyway. There's a lot more happening and greater opportunity to find steady work and I think you'll love it. Hope to see you soon,

Uncle John

Giving a slight smile, "Good ol' Uncle John." He folds the paper back up and stuffs it in his pocket. Enjoying the scenery as they move along, Boy am I glad to be shaking the dust off my feet of that crummy little town. Here's hoping Almas is as good as Uncle John says it is. It's got to be better than the disaster I was living in Elider. Ready to start a new chapter of his life, the ranger finds himself looking forward to what lies ahead.

Drake is a man of confidence and for the most part, owns a mild-mannered, relaxed type demeanor. Although, every once in a while he does let his emotions get the better of him. He does fairly well to keep those in check though.

Drake is 24 years ago, about 6'3", 210lbs. Somewhat lean but also fairly well built. He's got short brown hair, a beard, possessing a square jaw, and green eyes.

Hunt Prey [Single Action]: You designate a single creature as your prey and focus your attacks against that creature. You must be able to see or hear the prey, or you must be tracking the prey during exploration.
