Dragomir was an odd boy, often staring into shadows at things other people could not see. He did not speak until he was three years old, and then spoke in a frightening tongue his parents only later learned was the language of angels. At eleven years old, he spoke his first words of prophecy, causing him to be shunned by many, but also watched by the wise in his village.
The local priests and witches paid close attention to the boy's utterances, shocked to learn that he knew whole passages from the Acts of Iomedae by the time he was twelve. Without a day of training, he seemed to have an intuitive grasp of weapons and combat, defeating three older boys the first time he lifted a wooden sword. By the time he was sixteen, Dragomir was a recognized oracle of Iomedae, occasionally entering trances and speaking in the Celestial tongue.
While the local villagers were unnerved by this oddity, one figure seemed more intrigued than worried: Professor Lorrimar. The aged but energetic professor spoke to Dragomir about the wider world, encouraging him to learn what role the goddess had in mind for him to play. Although never exactly close, Dragomir regarded Professor Lorrimar as the closest thing he had to a mentor.
When Dragomir learned that the old Professor was dead, he immediately suspended his studies at the local monastery and packed his bags to attend the funeral.
