I have a dwarf cleric with 50 ft speed in plate mail (1 level barbarian, mithril plate mail). Worth it for the expression on peoples faces when he virtually teleported around the battlefield (feather steps so ignoring difficult terrain when he wanted to).
+1 though I rock stone plate just for fun...
...can stay a cleric though no reason to dip...plus a nice heavy steel shield....

Donagar goes along as well noticing the hallways and discussing armaments...When the passage is full of turns and narrow have ready melee, when it opens some should them ready ranged weapons...
Donagar readies his heavy steel shield and his battle axe. Usually he swings his dire flail with both hands...likely he believes it the better option for the current area...

If you are going cleric, and want both the travel and liberation domains go with dwarf.
You get the +10 bump to speed, and no matter how armored you are you are still moving at 30 (bumped) up to 40 most of the time due to the domain spell longstrider.
Take heavy armor prof, or dip a fighter level. Click on this profile for ideas....
This guy has walked right through the 8 Otugy reach attacks, and bashed the thing sensless without taking any damage.
