Sovereign Court

Male Human Rogue 3

Domitian quickly fetches a smokestick from his belt and cracks it, tossing it into the melee to protect Thaddeus.

Drawing a smokestick, popping it and tossing to fill squares H-I/2-3. Those squares are now filled with smoke.

Domitian breaks from the wall and enters the fray, storming up the stairs to aggress the one on the walkway.

Double move to F1.

Sovereign Court

Domitian stealthily advances towards the battle.

Move to G8, entering Stealth, readying weapons.

Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

Sovereign Court

Male Human Rogue 3

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Domitian silently slips out of the light and readies his weapons.

Attempting to hide in the shadows. Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

Domitian motions towards the western tunnel and nods at Solomon's observation.

"The docks are this way, and likely the best channel through which to smuggle items... or people in and out. I think we'll find our answers down this path."

Domitian gratefully accepts the vials of poison. "Thank you. This may come in handy."

"Blast it all!" Dom recoils from the spider's mandible. "Bah. Probably wouldn't do much good anyway. What've you got there, Thad?"

The rogue heads over to examine the oracle's findings.

Kn (Dungeoneering): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

"Ah... that's definitely a derro. Seems the intel we received wasn't wrong after all. There'll likely be more deeper in."

Domitian casts a smirk in the old man's direction.

"Damian, if you knew the first thing about swordplay, it's the fact that you don't let blood... or... spider guts... stick to your blade any longer than it has to. It'll pit the metal and ruin the edge. Not all of us are concerned about appearances," he adds with a wink.

"As for the spider...."

Can I make a Craft (Alchemy) check to extract the venom? If so: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9. Oooh, probably not with that roll.

With a flourish, Domitian sloughs off the spider ichor from his swords and guides them smoothly back into their sheathes at his hips.

"Well... that was most unpleasant."

He looks around for his fallen lantern and (so long as it is still relatively intact) relights it to inspect this little chamber further.

Based on Quioxti's description of moving "behind" the spider, I'm going to assume he's now in F4, giving me the flank...

With a sly grin, the rogue rapidly delivers a one-two punch with his blades.

No movement, full attack w/flank bonuses. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 to hit, dealing 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 and 2d6 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5 sneak attack. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 to hit off-hand, dealing 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 and 2d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 sneak attack. 21 total damage, unless it's AC is higher than 19.

Sovereign Court

Wait, are there two different spiders now? Previously, the poison was dealing DEX damage at DC 13, now there's STR damage at DC 14. o.0 WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE?!? I need a map so that I can set up flanking with someone before I know where to go. Also, as my action last round was to stand (and drew an AoO for it), I should no longer be listed as prone.

Fort save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Sovereign Court

So I take it this means I can't take 10... okay. My action will be dependent on whether or not someone provides me a light source prior to my turn. I intend to stand and draw my swords.

Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

DC 15 Acrobatics to avoid taking damage & falling prone.

I'd like to take 10 on it if I can. Otherwise: Acrobatics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14. (Dammit. Missed by 1.)

Domitian also ties a cloth around his face, peering into the waters below. He then strikes up his lantern and holds it aloft. "I'll go first."

Without further hesitation, the rogue jumps down feet first, hoping that the water is not so deep as to submerge his light.

Assuming nothing else happens once he's down there, Domitian will pop his vial of anti-toxin and gain the benefits for an hour.

Dom nods to the others. "I agree. No sense in wasting further time. Besides, who knows if this group doesn't already have its ears to the ground and knows we're coming? Best to deny them as much preparation as possible."

Sovereign Court

Male Human Rogue 3

"A dark and musty sewer entrance filled with monstrous rodents and cunning Darklands denizens bent on doing us bodily harm? Gentlemen, Venture-Captain, I do believe I was born for this task," the rogue smirks, taking the map from Quioxti and glancing over it appraisingly before passing it on.

"If they've been at this for awhile, its hard telling what traps and perils the derro have had chance to erect in defense of their haven. I may need to secure a bit of magic from the stores here in town to aid us in this."

Sovereign Court

Male Human Rogue 3

"Desperate situation? I thought we were investigating a rat problem? Unless the rats have gotten into the wine casks, in which case that is a desperate situation."

The rogue smirks and glances around nervously, following the rest of the group.

Dom peruses the letter as well and nods. "Yes, perhaps this family seeks to ransom off the victims in exchange for some means of restoring their house. A desperate gambit, and one that certainly warrants our attention."

Ready.

Sovereign Court

Male Human Rogue 3

Perhaps the most disheveled of the assembled group, Domitian looks as though it may well have been weeks since his last bath, yet still bears an air of refinement despite appearances.

"Well, as ridiculous as the premise may sound, I'll not turn down an opportunity to get back home on the Society's gold," the rogue winks. "We'll deal with the rats, investigate this supposed artifact, and then have time for shopping and wine afterwards, no? I like the sound of this assignment already!"

Sovereign Court

Well, for a Taldor-centric campaign, and especially if Loreweaver is bringing a Magus anyway, maybe I'll just play this character (3rd level rogue) instead.
