"Ok, this is it. Harlan has information about who might have killed my uncle. I am willing to offer my services and that of my ship to you for one task that cannot last more than 6 months and must wait until I can discover who it was who killed my uncle. Do you have a counteroffer?"
"Greetings Exceedingly Discreet I am Dev Vorn, Captain of a courier ship. We are looking for a man that goes by the name of Harlan and your name came up as someone who might know how to get ahold of this fellow."
Dev, while moving swiftly, but trying not to look like he is running, enters the elevator and waits for the others to join him.
Dev looks around their new prison and mutters under his breath before he hears Erryll comment. "We just want to talk with Exceedingly Discreet. We are, of course, willing to pay for the privilege as well, but if you gas us...well there will be more people coming around asking questions and I know that cannot be good for business..."
Dev follows down the tunnel.
"Hmmm...how unfortunate. We were looking to ship 17 tons of flax."
Dev keeps his shotgun hidden under the long coat he is wearing. "Ok, let's go and see if this 'Dandelion' is in Startown or not." Streetwise (to check the area around the office to see if anyone is watching the place or hidden thugs!)
Having been around seedy ports and dealing with questionable clientele, Dev does a quick check on the company as well as asks around the area about Winter Shipping and Harlan. Computers:
Silly me I knew that it was a red herring, but mixed it up in my mind that we were supposed to go off-planet to the research assistant...will retcon my actions accordingly!! Off to find a dandelion!!
"Well let's move out and get her to the local hospital. Then what? Go to this unknown planet and try and find her assistant? If so, we need to get a move on...the death of those goons and their failed attempt to kill the professor will get back to whoever set the hit and they might have the same info we do!"
"OK, we will let you live and run...so tell me who knows where we can find this Harlen fellow."
"You can start by telling us who hired you and if you had anything to do with the death of my uncle!"
Feeling much better after his turn with the auto Doc, Dev joins the others in discussing their next step. "Erryll has a great plan. Let's use both groups to try and get our information. Call the detective and let's get his info, then the POC for a formal investigation."
"Well at least you were not stupid enough to try and take an armed opponent down without any weapons of your own!! My shoulder is killing me!" Dev then helps move the bodies from the yard but takes time to search them all thoroughly, removing any weapons or valuables.
Dev, reeling from the gunshot wound, stumbled backwards from his foe. Luckily he was not in the car's path as it sped into the man, but his enemy was probably already dead from the bullet from Chuck's gun. He tries to stand, but the sudden pain in his chest keeps him from standing completely upright. Zirelle was suddenly there lending him a hand and bring him back to the house. "The professor...is she..??"
Having watched many holo-movies about great martial artists, Dev attempts to disarm the assailant who just fired at Ben in their car. Melee-Unarmed Combat (-2 JoT):
Looking quickly around for any way to get to the car without being seen by the gunman, Dev lowers the wounded professor to the ground and attempts to slip behind the gunman and...well...who knows what! Something needs to be done, or the professor will die...just like his uncle! Stealth (dex):
Dev carries the critically wounded professor quickly down the stairs while Chuck covers them. He follows Zirelle out the door and makes a dash for the vehicles.

While the others are planning their escape, Dev attempts to render some first aid to the wounded professor. Medic:
LOL...when you put it that way it really sorts of puts it into perspective!!
Seeing Ben struggling to move the Professor, he crawls over and lifts her into his arms. "I got her...grab one of those swords and let's get the hell out of here!"
Looking to the others, Dev whispers. "Does anyone have an extra gun? Did not think I would need mine out here on an Imperial preserve!"
Dev stands somewhat shocked at seeing the professor shot down right in front of him. His first reaction is to dive for cover and ready his gun, but he had not thought to bring it to this meeting....so dives for cover and hopes some of the others were not as unprepared as him!
Dev takes a deep breath and speaks to the Professor. "I was informed of his death a few weeks ago and we have only been here for a couple of hours, but so far we have concluded that someone wanted something my Uncle had, and did not take no for an answer. He was found at the TAS after meeting with a couple of men. We do not know who they were but suspect they might be part of the organized crime syndicate located here." He takes a breath to let this information sink in before continuing. "We received your message as we were searching the TAS room he had rented, but before we got here one of our group was contacted by a person who had some information. We stopped off to see what he had to say, and while leaving to come here, we received a message from the investigation officer saying they had solved the murder and we did not need to snoop around anymore...which to me seems very suspicious."
"Indeed. My uncle's death was sudden and very unexpected. As my friends have said he received a message from you and I was hoping that this might shed some light on what happened to him."
"Alright, let's go and see the Professor and hope we get there before it is too late! If he is somehow mixed up in this shadowy criminal organization we want to get to him and hear his story." Paying his tab, Dev heads out with the others and piles into their rented vehicle.
Dev continues to pretend to be drinking and eating with his friends while watching the doors to keep watch on who comes in or leaves while Ben is talking to this informant.
Dev joins Zirelle and also orders something to eat, as well as drinks for her and Chuck.
Dev has recon so he can keep an eye on the meeting spot and try to detect if it is an ambush or not...
"OK..we will catch up at the professors once we are through with Ben's guy, ok?" Once he receives the reply, he and the others will head off to the meeting with Ben's mysterious informant.
Dev activates his comm and calls out to Chuck and Zirelle. "Umm...hey guys. Where are you going? We were going to follow up on a clue that Ben just got and then were going to see the professor. We already are looking into one death, I don't want to have to investigate another!! Get back to me please!" He turns to the rest of the group. "I guess they felt that getting to the professor was more important...I just hope if they continue out there they are safe!"
"Well that sounds like a possible solid lead. Maybe we should go and see what this man has to say!?" Dev looks at the others to see what they think.
"Well if it does not have a jump drive or maneuver jets, then count me out!" Dev lets the others arrange for the transport while he continues to search the room. Investigate (JoT):
"A very good point Erryll...who knows who has seen this message! We should try to get to the Professor's place ASAP!"
Dev thanks the corner and gathers his uncle's personal belongings. He hands over the comm to Zirelle. See what you can find out from this!" he says while giving her the comm. Reading over the report and listening to the questions Chuck asked, Dev feels that they have gotten all they can from this avenue of inquiry. "Let's go to the TAS hostel and see what we might be able to learn."
Looking at all the paperwork, Dev sits down and attempts to quickly skim the contents and get it all in order. Having been forced to submit surveys on a constant basis while working, he has the gist of Imperial bureaucracy. Admin:
Dev looks over the group before speaking. "We all know Uncle Vlen and unless he changed completely since I last saw him, I do not believe he would have anything to do with drugs! While we are here I think we need to check out all the facts we can get, as well as investigate the TAS room and see what the corner has to say."
"Thank you Inspector for all your help. I will gather my uncle's things now and make arrangements to take him home. I hope can forgive some of our rash words...my uncle was well-loved by many and will be sorely missed. Please forward any further details to this comm code. Again thank you and I will be in touch before we leave." Dev gets up and heads for the door. Once outside he quietly walks out of the office building and heads to the docks to get a shuttle back to the HighPort. He singles the others to remain quiet until they are back aboard his ship.
"Uncle Vlen...murdered! Listen, I have not heard from my Uncle Vlen for years now. I was surprised as anyone when I received your communique informing me of his death." Dev listens as the Inspector explains everything to him. "OK, thank you, inspector. I will take custody of the body now and make arrangements to have him brought to my ship in cold storage for the trip back to Alell. Please keep me posted on your investigation. Was there anything else?"
