About Denyth "Den" NiloncheDenyth “Den” Nilonche
Background Summary:
Denyth “Den” Nilonche was born and raised in the shadow of Fal Moran, in a smithing family that had served Shienar for generations. From the moment she could walk, she rejected the paths expected of her. She hated dresses, mimicked her father at the forge, and forced her way into weapons training with the boys. Though she followed many of the masculine customs of her people, she never claimed to be a man. Instead, Den moved through the rigid roles of the Borderlands with quiet defiance, forging a path that was wholly her own. Never quite a son, never content to be a daughter. That changed the night she fled into the forest, overwhelmed and directionless. There, in the stillness beneath the trees, the wolves came. They didn’t speak, not really, but they saw her, knew her, and accepted her without question. They gave her a name: Shifting Mist, for the quiet presence that moved between forms. For the first time in their life, Den felt whole, felt like they finally understood themselves. They were brother to man, but sister to wolf. In the moons that followed, Den discovered that they had become different; Something old, something wild, something no one in Shienar understood. So Den journeyed south, to the White Tower. The only place they knew of that might have answers.
Appearance:
Den cuts a striking figure: tall, broad-shouldered, and built like a fortress wall. She wears a custom-forged brigandine coat, sleeveless and fur-lined, tailored for mobility and survival. Lighter than standard Shienaran armor, it bears reinforced plating on the left shoulder and arm to absorb blows while keeping her sword arm unburdened. They carry a warder’s sword and shortsword slung over the right shoulder, both self-forged and perfectly balanced. At the hilt of each is engraved the Black Hawk of Shienar. Den’s dark hair is worn in a traditional Shienaran topknot, with the sides shaved clean. Golden eyes, bright and reflective, mark them as a wolfsister. Their face is sharp and androgynous, defined by a crooked nose broken more than once. Their skin bears the marks of a hard life: calloused hands, old burns, and scars from battle, smithing, and years of training.
Personality:
Quiet, intense, and unshakably calm, Den does not seek attention but has a commanding presence. They are respected, though not always understood, especially since their wolfsister nature revealed itself. They are deeply committed to protecting others, particularly those who are overlooked or misunderstood. Den prefers the company of animals to people, and the silence of steel to the noise of small talk. But when she speaks, her words carry weight. And when she fights, she does so with the strength of a pack behind her.
