Hi all!! Last night we were playing a new campaign with new 15th lvl characters and some rules questions came up. I am looking for direct links to the srd or in the book for clarification on some issues. The first was the come and get me power

Prerequisite: Barbarian 12

Benefit: While raging, as a free action the barbarian may leave herself open to attack while preparing devastating counterattacks. Enemies gain a +4 bonus on attack and damage rolls against the barbarian until the beginning of her next turn, but every attack against the barbarian provokes an attack of opportunity from her, which is resolved prior to resolving each enemy attack.

The Dm had asked since the monster was doing a full attack which was one action why would I get 3 counterattacks against him. I didnt think this needed clarification because it says "but every attack against the barbarian provokes an attack of opportunity". Am I wrong here?

The next question that came up is if I have CAGM active and I being a medium size creature charge or run up to a large creature with threatening reach of 10ft would I get an AOO with CAGM since hes hitting me from reach. I admit I am not very good at the rules with provoking but I think if I leave the square 10 ft out to get to his adjacent square thats when I provoke. He also didnt seem to want me to use lunge for my AOO so im a little stuck.

Thanks for any input you can provide.

I am thinking of making a master summoner for an upcoming campaign and I am trying to find different ways to scry on the enemy. My Eidolon is a stealth skill monkey but I am looking for ways to scry magically. A 1 level dip into a class is about as far as I can go for multiclassing so I am looking for feats, magic items etc etc that can help me accomplish this. Thanks

Can I use metamagic feats like empower spell and spell perfection on the master summoners SLA? I have never had a class with SLA's so this is new to me. Thank you

Just looking for build advice for my synthesist summoner. We are playing 15th lvl characters and we tend to fight a lot of demons devils and other monsters with DR. I am looking for advice on if I should stick to natural attacks or go biped with arms. Since my eidolon cant be any bigger then me ( medium) im kinda lost. Any advice, examples etc would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Spell Perfection + Magical Lineage...How is it all applied? My DM and I are trying to figure out how this all works and would like for someone to point out and clarify the rules for us. Raw and RAI opinions please. For instance as a 15th lvl Sorcerer can I cast a quickened empowered chain lightning followed by a maximized empowered chain lightning? Thank you

I am looking for advice on building a barb using the half dragon template. He will be lvl 13 (instead of 15) from the template but I am ok with that since the stat bonuses and flavor are awesome. I would like to focus on the rage power body bludgeon. I know this is not optimal from a combat standpoint but im ok with that as well. If anyone has any recomendations or overall build advice it would be greatly appreciated. Heres a list of things to keep in mind.

1. 25 point buy
2. would like to do moderate dmg via natural attacks OR manufactured weapons ( Need to overcome DR ).
3. Ways to get large are always a plus so I wont have to worry about getting enlarge person from party wizard.
4. Focus on grapple/pinning
5. Must have 10 levels of barb to get the power (unless theres another way).

Thanks for any input

RULES

1. CL 15 wiz or sorc
2. Only 1 trait allowed in your build
3. 25 point buy character with NO magical equipment
4. Pathfinder books only
5. Vs a normal lvl 15 encounter

Lets see what you can do!!!

I will be making a new character for a high level campaign and want to play a blaster. Assuming we have a classic Wizard to do the battle control/buffing etc etc please help me build a good blaster. 25 point buy and equipment cant be too crazy but isnt totally limited. What class, feats, spells would you go with. Please remember at 15th lvl almost 1/2 the monsters will have some sort of fire resist so I would PREFER not to focus on fire. I am looking for as much info as you can provide on building a good blaster as I normally play BSF type characters. Thank you

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Will an unarmed attack work how I am thinking? Can I use my fist if I have Improved Unarmed Strike to punch someone and get the damage bonus from sap adept and sap master? Not sure since it says using a bludgeoning weapon.... Thoughts??

I am playing an alchemist that will focus on using his feral mutagen to attack with claw/claw/bite. All of which will be at his full BAB. I do not see any useful feats. Pathfinder books only, what Can I take to make him a better combatant? He is Human and stats are: STR16,DEX14,CON14,INT16,WIS12,CHAR8.

He is somewhat of a switch hitter and I know this isn't optimal. Jackal and Hyde type and will be going prestige into Master Chymist. Thank you for any Advice it is much appreciated. Also please explain why you choose the feats you do.

The restrictions= 25 point buy,Human, lvl 1 feats are precise shot and point blank shot.

The goal= Eventually to become a master chymist that goes nova for 2 or 3 rounds with bombs then drinks mutagen and gets up close and personal. The difficult part is that I would really love for him to use natural attacks. I know that splitting my focus into 2 different types of attacks will make each a bit weaker and Im ok with that. I would like to get rapid shot at lvl 3 and precise bombs for my first discovery. I have never built an alchemist before or a character that uses natural weapons. Please advise on stats, feats , discoveries up to about level 10. Thank you in advance for any input.

If I am a medium creature and using my Large serpant Eidolon as a mount can it still grab and constrict? It grabs with its bite attack but i was assuming the constricting is done with its body. If that is the case it seems like it would be akward for my half elfe riding it and attacking and such. Thanks guys

If I am fighting with a pistol in my main hand and a shortsword in my offhand and i do NOT have the twf feat what are the penalties to fighting with each weapon IF ...

1. I am only making a single attack with my shortsword
2. I am making a rapidshot ( i have the feat) with my dragon pistol
3. attacks of opportunity with my shortsword

Basicly im looking to make a character who can shoot and run in and flank, then move around and use a pistol or sword for whatever the situation calls for. I am not going to use a sword and pistol in the same attack.

Sorry if this is a noobish question but I wanted to get some clarification on plant shape 3. Exactly what would I gain from lets say turning into a vipervine or treant. How does it affect my AC? Do I get all of its special attacks and special abilities? How would it affect my saves? Thanks for any feedback.

How would you resovle the attack and damage bonus from the following?

lvl 14 cavalier (BAB 14)
mounted and charging
target is his challenge
power attack with furious focus
+3 lance weilded with 1h and sheild in other
character str bonus is +7
mount str bonus is +7 (mounted mastery)
character has feat spirited charge

sorry for so many variables but thats why its so confusing to me.
Any input at all is GREATLY GREATLY appreciated

Silver Crusade

It's not a feat, so that's why you can't find it. It's from the Cavalier (Order of the Sword):

APG wrote:

Mounted Mastery (Ex)

At 8th level, the cavalier ignores the armor check penalty when using the Ride skill, regardless of whether or not the creature he is riding is his mount. Whenever he makes a charge attack while mounted, he receives a +4 dodge bonus to his AC to avoid attacks set against his charge. When making such an attack, he can add his mount’s Strength modifier to the damage roll, in addition to his own. He also receives a bonus feat, chosen from the following list: Mounted Combat, Ride-By Attack, Skill Focus (Ride), Spirited Charge, Trample, or Unseat. He must qualify for the feat selected.

Unlike many people I actually liked the 3.5 assassin . Im looking to remake a character I had from 3.5. He was 6 roue/8 assassin. I used spells alot to help with many situations and his death attack was decent since his int was very high. I am Looking to remake him for pathfinder and im looking for suggestions. He will be starting at lvl 9 and I was wanting to do rogue assasin like before but now hes missing spells. Arcane trickster may be an option but Im not sure how to make it all mesh together. TWF isnt a must but improved feint would make sense for his character as he had that before. Daggers or shortswords but nothing exotic. The spells are really whats getting me worked up . Thanks for any feedback

I am looking for a magic item that i can use with my UMD that would produce an enemy to become cowwering or stunned. Anyone know of any? And yes im going for coupe de grace. Thanks for any feedback

Ok so my Dm texted me today to say that the classes he has allowed are going to get an overhaul because they are too overpowered with no drawbacks. He is talking about my magus, my friends gunslinger and an alchemist. His biggest gripe is they have good +to hits and against touch ac. I think alchy is his biggest gripe because he can throw his stuff and not hit any allies but hits enemies touch ac. Please give your opinion of the biggest drawbacks or weaknesses to magus alchy gunslinger classes so i can help point them out to him. Thanks guys for any feedback.

Ok i keep looking through the book but cant find the section on rules for using firearms? Is it not in the main book? Please someone tell me the page number plz. Thank you

Im looking to take some PC's to a new region of a world we are building and I would like to make it a very difficult environment to sustain in. I am looking for feedback on what Dc i should make the fortitude saves and if they fail what would be the negative impact on the pc. The players are each playing a level 3 character and a level 10 character. Im sure the levels 10's would pass it pretty easy except for maybe a caster or two and im ok with this.I was thinking a dc 12 fort save or be slowed for 1d4 hours or something along those lines. What do you guys think?

I was reading another poster the other day that had very identical ideas on a stalwart defender class and was trying to get more input from the community on ways around being fatigued. I would like to prestige into defender and want to add some flavor to the build by doing other classes besides fighter to get there. I am looking for any knowledge on how to become immune to fatigue whether it be by class abilities, spells, spell like abilities or any other means. The two classes I know of to do this is oracle and horizon walker. Is there any other way in pure pathfinder to become immune to fatigue so I can so called stance dance and move? Anyone know of any items that can grant this power? Any info is greatly appreciated.

I understand that spells that increase sizes do not stack for the size bonus but does the rest of the spell still work? For example If i cast righteous might 1 round then cast elemental body round 2, I know I would only increase my size 1 category but what happens to all the other bonuses to str, dex, armor, etc etc?

I am currently trying to create an intelligent weapon for my oracle. I would like for the weapon to be able to act like a quickening metamagic rod in addition to its other powers. Anyone know if this is something I can add and if so how do I figure out the costs?

Sorry if this has been answered but i couldnt find it anywhere. In pathfinder when an oracle casts spiritual weapon and has to concentrate to direct its attacks what action is this? Is it a swift, move, standard, full round or what? Can my weapon attack a target 30 feet away and I attack someone im in melee with in the same round? Thanks all

Sorry if this has been answered already but what happens when you use spell slots to increase a spells affect by using meta magic feats? Example being I cast a quickened 2nd level spell and im a sorcerer. does it automatically use a 6th level slot? or can i use a 2nd level slot for the spell and a 4th level slot for the quickened? I just need to know the official pathfinder ruling on this so I can plan accordingly. Also if anyone knows if a high level character with the best Quicken rod can quicken a 9th level spell? If that's true isn't that a little crazy? Thanks all for the help.

OK so what is the best creator out there for making a pathfinder character? Do any of them have the new apg rules in them already? Paid or free doesn't really matter as im looking for quality. Thanks all : )

Not sure if this post is OK for these forums if its not please let me know and i will remove it. Anyhew i am looking for the perfect mini for our current pathfinder game and im having trouble finding one. I would prefer it to be metal so i can paint it myself and my character is a halfling arcane trickster. Hes a rogue and sorc mix but is definitely on the darker side of things. A mini with either a staff or dagger can work but im looking for one with high detail. Cost is not a concern as this is going to be a guy I will be playing for the next year possibly 2 so I want to get it right. Any input is greatly appreciated on where I can find such a mini. To sum it up= halfling male mostly caster with splash of rogue kinda evil looking and definately not a happy little halfling more of a Ill tear your face off halfling of melt it with a fireball. Thanks all so much for any input.

OK I have been doing pnp with the same group of friends since I started many many years ago. What it comes down to, is if we ever have a problem its the same one. Inconsistency on when we play. I understand real life happens as when my son was born I missed probably 2 or 3 months of play. What its boiling down to now is that not everyone gives the same effort to be at our games every week but when they do make an appearance my group decides " oh well play today because so and so is here ". And leaving off at a very crucial part of the story when we last played I now get to miss how this part of our campaign turns out because I actually plan my life and cant play spur of the moment like some of the others. I love my friends to death but after having a blowout with the one who started all of this I feel its time to stop playing pnp with them. I am sure they will see this as childish but still feels its what I should do. The only thing is I don't want to stop playing but currently there aren't any groups going on at my local "nerd store". Should I try to find groups that use the internet? Or just wait it out to see if I can find something local. I'm open to all suggestions to see if anyone else has run into this situation before. Also im not the biggest role player as i found out when I went to Gencon a few years back. Not that I don't get into character im just not as "colorful " as some others.

Ok I can use some help with choosing a lvl 8 spell. I am currently a houseruled arcane trickster with 1 lvl of rogue and 6 lvl sorc and of course 10 levels arcane trickster. I have craft rod as a feat along with maximize quicken and heighten spell feats. So i will most likely have at least the best quicken rod for those nasty high level spells. Our DM is a long time friend and we are having a 4day party of nothing but playing our campaign . Can you say dorkfest? Hell yes. Anyhew he tends to use his knowledge of our guys to make things very very chalenging (which is fine) and we will probobly do the same to him by planning ahead. what I need to know is which 8th lvl spell you think i should choose and why. To give an example last week as a test session he threw at us a bunch of golems and a tarn linnorm. This being my first spellcaster and arcane trickster I had mostly spells that gave SR and saves. Boy did i feel useless in that fight. After allowing me to tweak my character my new spells are less direct. I am using tricks like rock to mud and mud to rock. Also there is another spellcaster in the party a wizard of lower level. He has reverse gravity so I was thinking prismatic wall. That could be a nice combo. I would prefer the spell would either have no save or no SR. We will probobly be fighting rediculous stuff that have insane SR and saves. I do have the Greater spell pen feat. Please tell me what ya guys think and sorry for rambling. Also we are sticking to pure pathfinder so that should help narrow it down thank you.

This may be not so simple of a question but here it is.Is there ANY way of lowering a monsters DR? My friend plays an arcane archer and asked me today. Its a high level campaign and he is mostly bard with 10 levels AA and a splash of rogue i beleive. We also have 16th lvl sorc and lots of fighters and 1 cleric in the group. So any way we can lower a monsters DR for the whole party to dmg him?

Hey everyone
I was looking for a spell that has to be from a pathfinder source (no 3.5 plz) that i can combo with sanctuary. What im trying to do is find a spell where it forces guys to attack me. Is there such a spell in pathfinder? I figured the combo would be nice with sanctuary to keep fighters in check wasting there attacks on me. Thanks all for any input. Also i have limted wish so the school is open as long as its moderate to low lvl.

Sorry if this is a noob question but I am new to playing a caster type character and just need some clarification on game mechanics. If I were to cast lets say color spray to a target within 15ft what exactly do i roll? Lets not worry about feats or any of that just to keep it simple. Thanks all for posting/reading. Oh yeah im a 4th level sorcerer.

Hi all and thanks for reading. Im just wondering if bestow curse can be stacked in pure pathfinder rules. If I cast bestow curse and they fail save I then imply the -4 to saves, can i do this again the next round so they get -8 if they fail again? If not is there any other way to lower someones saving ability other than modifying the key ability for that type of save? Thanks and sorry if this is a noob question but im playing my first spellcaster (and loving every minute of it). Thanks all

ok total noob to playing a magic user in pnp so please be nice : )
How exactly do i roll for attacking with spells like touch attack and rays? Like what mechanics are involved? I understand touch ac's but im making a sorcerer and im still a little confused. ok alot confused and pretty much clueless. Pure pathfinder rules plz and as always thanks so much for the help.

Hello all and thanks for reading. I have made a high lvl character for an old campaign we are introducing to pathfinder and using pure pathfinder rules. No 3.5 stuff plz. I see this character as a somewhat insane half elf running around the battlefeild and disarming people, cleaving, and hounding spell casters. I would like for him to use a ranseur for sure and get his disarm as high as possible. at 17th lvl his stats are as follows str18,dex18,con14,int13,wis14,char10.What i would like to focus on is what feats to choose since I pretty much know what magic items and all that jazz I will be buying. The reason for 2 levels of barb is im trying to get his speed up without wasting feats on fleet. He will only be wearing medium armor(most likely breastplate).Reach is extremely important so i will be using ranseur with a spiked gauntlet for threat reasons. So plz post the feats you would go with and why ,and thank you for the time as all help and viewpoints are greatly appreciated.

Im looking for a clear answer on if a 2h weapon gives you a bonus to your cmb/cmd like it did in 3.5 .I have been searching the messageboards and have only found debate. Anyone know if they released an official word on this issue and where i can find it? I know there are weapons that are 2h that have properties like disarm for the ranseur but if im trying to disarm a dagger from a human and im a half elf using a ranseur do i get more of a bonus for me using 2h wep? Also can i disarm magic items like cloaks or brooches or something like that or does it have to be a weapon? I know sunder can hit other items but if i use a polearm and want to swipe someones cloak off then hurl it 3 squares away using greater disarm why cant i do it? Thank you all in advance for your reply and input.

Ok if a lvl 17 ftr has spring attack and say wants to attack someone then move 20ft then disarm a few more people within reach can he do so with feats like spring attack and imp disarm? I thought I remember seeing somewhere that you can only attack once with spring attack but can still use your remaining attacks from your bab to do cmb stuff. If so is it always at the highest bab or does it go down because you are using your lower attacks to do them? I hope this makes sense and thanks so much for any input.
