backstory:

Davor is not your normal half orc. His father was an orc raider named Karaguk, and unlike most beginnings of half orcs, he fell in love with a woman on one of his raids. Hafsteina was the only person to thwart his attempts to loot her inn. She was a short, stocky, Ulfen woman. She had long red hair and a cheery yet stern demeanor. She was said to have been descended from dwarves. She forced the orcs back from her inn, to the road, and from the road all the way back out to the edge of the forest.

After being chased out of town in their failed raid, Karaguk vowed to see Hafsteina again. Night after night he would come to the inn and leave flowers at the porch of the inn. One night, she caught him. Most women would have been terrified to find an orc at her door, but Hafsteina was intrigued. They could not speak to one another, so they just stared into each other's eyes. Eventually dawn was coming and Karaguk had to be out of town before the militia did their rounds. He drew his hammer and laid it at Hafsteina's feet. With that gesture, he disappeared for many days.

Nearly a month later, Karaguk returned. He was bruised and bloody. His armor had obviously been torn from is body. His ribs could be seen through his skin from lack of food. He fell at the stoop of the inn and Hafsteina had to drag his unconscious body into the cellar.

Over the next weeks, she nursed him back to health. She taught him bits of common and dwarven, whichever he found easier to grasp. She learned bits of orc and they developed their own pidgin that only they understood. They decided Karaguk would live in the inn and work in the kitchen, which he did, unnoticed, for nearly a year.

Everything changed when Hafsteina realized she was pregnant. The town was abuzz about who the father was. She had never taken a shining to any man of town, nor any traveler. After an unusually short pregnancy, she went into labor. When Davor was born, the town went into an outrage. They stormed the inn and dragged Karaguk out in chains. Without charges or sentence, he was strung up in the gallows by noon. By night, against Hafsteina's protest, she was a widow, and Davor would never know his father.

Hafsteina grew bitter and cold. She raised Davor with the love and care of any good mother, but to anyone else, they got what they paid for and nothing more. Davor grew quickly. He reached puberty at 9, and grew a beard by 14. Seeing his mothers distaste for people, he never learned how to interact, but he did acquire a taste for mead. Drink gave him a jolly spirit, at the cost of a short temper. This was fine for an innkeeper, however, and the ran his mother's inn until her death.

When he was going through her things, he found journals written in the pidgin language he could not read. He had learned common and dwaven from is mother, but never orc. He devoted months to learning this language. And when he was done, he had finally met his father. He found his father's hammer and decided to show the world what a Dworc could do. He sold the inn and took the money to buy the gear of an adventurer. He was not going to be jst any adventurer, however, Davor would be a pathfinder.
