Ever since he was born, he knew that he was blessed by the gods. After all, he was reminded every time he met a new priest from some far away city. When his parents found about his celestial heritage, they gave him up to the local church of Iomedae. Apparently, his parents were happy about his birth, but they don't feel they are worthy of raising him. At least, that how the head priestess and his 'mother' tells it. He is grateful of them raising him anyway. They want him to go on the path of good and put others before him and to uphold the tenats of the faith. For awhile, it was a good life for him and cannot ask for better place of love a child live in.
As he grew into a young adult, he started to have a realize something. Throughout his entire life, he has been treated like an idol on a pedestal. Everyone respected him and act nice and polite to him, but they never see him as a man like them. It's like a weird inversion of an outsider except they all want him, but they feel like they are beneath his notice. It took a meeting with a follower of Cayden that makes him realize a new path.
It was outside a tavern when the guy called out to him. He never met the man, but he wanted Darven to share drink with him. He told stories of his adventures in Varisa and the monsters he fought with his allies. It was quite fun to listen to him, Darven never had this kind of conversation with anyone before. The man even made him pay for his own drink! He returns to the temple asked his mother what kind of god Cayden is. She told him that Cayden was an Ascended, like Iomedae, with a heart of gold, but lack the responsibility the goddess has. It took some personal research that he found out that they don't care about destiny and that they make their own path for the good everyone. His celestial blood does not matter to them as long he lives freely and help those who are in need.
When he reach adulthood, he left the temple and become a follower of the Drunked Hero. His mother was not to pleased with his decision, but she does respect it and likes that it is still a path of rightous and tells him she will always welcome him back if it did not turn out the way he hope he did. Darven has no regrets of his change of faith and now, with a rapier in one hand and a tankard in another, he head out for adventure and discovery.
