![]() A sudden look of shock on Darthens face gives away his thoughts. "The King?!?" He searches the crowd raging by looking for more information. "WHAT HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE KINGS DEATH? TELL ME MORE!" He shouts at various passerby's until he gets one that will spill whatever gossip he has heard. A quick nod of agreement to Heather, "It will be bad thats for sure. Lets get out of this crowd and see the fortune teller. At least it will give us a respite from this crowd." ![]()

But... before we head to the guard,... I think we should go first to Zellara's house and find out the truth of her tale." "I appreciate your sentiments Jeorik, and I can see that you are a good natured person. However living in Korvosa is a struggle. Survival of the fittest and all that." With a nod at Inigio, "Even the church makes sure that their hands are on the gold. As for the items, I do not care who carries them, but I do agree that we need to be out of here. Let us head to Zellara's house and see what we can find out. The rest will fall in place one way," he finishes with a look at Inigio "or another." ![]()

The items get turned in as long as we are rewarded?" ![]()

I forgot all about that chest. Ok, time for Darthen to take a look at it. He isn't a rogue so.... Responding to Inigio, "The chest seems to be the only thing of interest. Darthen stands to the side of the chest, flexes his fingers gingerly, and tries to open the lid. ![]()
![]() "The gator shouldn't be back for awhile. Lets get out of here before that crowd sets this place on fire." Darthen takes a look around the room Heather is in and the larger one with the pit. Small room; Large room (1d20+4=15, 1d20+4=12) As long as nothing catches his eyes .... Disgusted at the sights and smells of the small room Darthen makes a hasty retreat back up to the first floor. He waits for the others before heading up the ladder. If the place is still standing and not on fire he does a quick search of each room as well. I can do a separate roll for each just let me know how many I need to do. ![]()
![]() I didn't see that you had already posted for me Tom, thanks. Here is my post I was going to put before I went back to verify everyones location on the map. Anyone can read this if they want. Just a little bit more flavor for the fight. Spoiler: Darthen grins as Lamm's body hits the ground. Punctured and cut by his opponents weapons his body leaves a streak of blood down the wall. Within seconds he hears yelling and spins to see the gator take another swipe at Inigio. Just as quickly the beast slides back into the inky depths of the water. A slight movement out of the corner of his eye brings his attention back to Lamm. "Did he just move?" He studies Lamm for a second before thrusting his blade up under his chin giving it a quick twist. As he draws his blade out he turns back to the water keeping his profile low as he scans the water for signs of the beast. As you can see I didn't even think about the spear in Lamm. Thanks for grabbing that for me. :) ![]()
![]() With a sneer on his face Darthen grips his sword tightly. "Lets do this!" He quickly steps across the corner of the water pit while Lamm is distracted with his crossbow. 5' step to A6 With Lamm's back to him, Darthen, takes the opportunity to make quick strike hoping to incapacitate him. Even in the cramped confines of the room his blade streaks straight for Lamm's spine. At the last possible second Lamm expertly changes his stance to deflect the lethal strike. "Damn he's quick. Quicker than I gave him credit for." A quick look at his sword shows a smear of blood. Darthen grins as he realizes Lamm didn't avoid the full strike as he thought. Attack | Damage (1d20+4=17, 1d6=3) I hope Jeorik can swim because you have him in the water :D ![]()
![]() Oops. I was waiting to see where Inigio was going before I posted. Darthen covers his face as pieces of rotted wood fly past him. "I would hate to see what he does when he gets pissed." Just then the door disappears as the final blow shatters the remaining planks. Just then, a loud snapping sound, draws his attention to the gator as it disappears down the hole. "WOAH! I don't think I've seen on that large before." Looking back over his should he says, "watch your step in here. That beast could come back through that hole at anytime." A quick look at the water around them, "He could probably grab one of you from here to. Get in the room, at least there you have a fighting chance." As he finishes he moves into the room keeping the hole and the exits in clear view. ![]()
![]() I also knew Inigio was the one for this task. Thanks for clearing that up for us. :) As Inigio describes what he is about to do with the fire, Darthen, catches Kelywin's look. He raises an eyebrow at the elf wondering if he is thinking the same thing. As the first blow tears into the door he readies his shield and sword. I would assume I am after Inigio. If one of the others wants to go before me just let us know. Oh well, acting near the end of combat has its advantages, right? ![]()
![]() Um my post was eaten apparently. Ugh, I need to remember to check that before I close everything down. Here is a synopsis of what I typed earlier. Darthen eyes the water. Whispering to the others he says, "Even without sharks I don't think I would hazard a swim in that stuff." A quick look at the others, "Right then, give me a hand with this door and lets see if we can find this Lamm and be done with this affair. I have a hot meal and a cold ale waiting for me." I rolled a 20 at IC with 3 damage. Not enough to even put a dent on the door. Try as he might, Darthen is unable to get a strong enough swing in to do any real damage. BTW, while I was out on lunch I passed a car with the license plate "LAMM". Coincidence? I think not. I almost decided to run him off the road and grab hit loot. :D ![]()

Darthen tries to catch a glimpse of the room beyond through the small opening. Whispering back to the others, "I don't know if we can break this down in these tight quarters." Looking at the spot the others noticed in the water. "One of you want to try and see where that leads?" ![]()
![]() Ok with that he will use the shortsword instead Ignoring the sounds from above he tries to concentrate on the door. Not sure if the sounds from above are distracting him or there is actually nothing behind the door. Darthen slowly moves back and takes whispers up the to the others, "What's going on up there? What was that noise? There isn't anything I can here behind the door, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything." He doesn't climb up the ladder yet, and he keeps an eye on the door. ![]()
![]() As Darthen lands softly on the wet landing he slowly pulls out one of his daggers. He takes a quick look up the ladder at the others. Slowly moving down the slippery planks towards the door. That heavy armor of yours will make it harder to maneuver on the ladder. Be ready to move down when I give the all clear." With that he tightens the straps on his buckler, sheaths his sword and heads down the ladder. Constantly checking below and to the sides for any signs of someone else. Let me know if you need any rolls. ![]()
![]() Watching as the kids sneak out Darthen says, "Let the rugrats go. Without these fools to prod them on they will go back to their regular lives." Looking down at the gnome, "You however aren't so lucky. I do recall you trying to have us gutted. I say we dump him into the water tied up. If he makes it out good for him. If not, well no one will miss him. However I will leave the decision up to the group. I am sure the guard will be just as happy to have one of Lamm's crew." ![]() His blade slides easily into Yargin. Not a second later an arrow sails noiselessly past his ear and buries itself in Yargins chest to its feathers. A quick glance back confirms it was Jeorik. A nod of thanks for not hitting him while in combat. Suddenly Keilwyn yells to stop a Gnome. A quick look around and he sees the little devil wielding a toothpick size dagger. He moves and turns to face the small child like man. Another quick strike while his attention is diverted. So that is 6 damage to the Gnome. ![]()

![]() Kind of busy at work here so I will see what I can do to get a coherent post up. Infuriated at his initial quarry using the kids as a shield Darthen focuses on Yargin. At the kids he yells, "You little rats get outta here before this fool kills you all." "Inigio, what the hell do you think you are doing. They are kids for gods sake. Take out the ones issuing the orders and these will scatter." The map you sent didn't have a grid so I am a little lost. I didn't mark it all down. Oh wait a sec I will download the module from my account area and look at it. That should take me a few minutes, If Darthen is unable to reach Yargin because of kids, etc then I will revise his action. For now my action is... Darthen moves to intercept Yargin to prevent him from escaping. Maybe with the wortless scum engaged the kids will lose their will and flee. As he closes in on his prey he opens with a quick piercing attack aimed at Yargin's mid section. "I can tell by his unbalanced stance he is no fighter. His orc and kids do his dirty work. A quick decisive strike should bring him down." ![]()
![]() Darthen gives a quick look back at Heather, "Mighty fine lass. Does this brute have to listen to you now? If so send him down the hall past Jeorik and let him tangle with them first. I will keep behind him in case the charm breaks." Delay until after Heather. She needs to win an opposed charisma check to give him an order. If she fails her check, Darthen will strike him down, then move down the hall with Jeorik. Attack; Damage (1d20+4=19, 1d6=4) Man what a waste of a great roll. If she beats his score, then Darthen will stay behind Giggles to take his place if he falls or to bring him down. As for Heather; She has already cast her three 1st level spells, charm person, and disguise self twice (once for the scary thing and the other to turn into a rough sailor dude). So for now she will just stick to the back and delay for now. After we are done at the warehouse the first stop will be to get her a sling. Oh I didn't even realize there was a listen check. Hold on while I roll....Listen check. Add 2 against humans. (1d20+8=12) "Step back away from that door lass. There is something behind it. My guess is another dog. Keep to the plan and get this oaf down the hall. Jeorik could use the help. I will be close in case whatever it is gets through." The plan is still the same as above. ![]()
![]() After rubbing his should Darthen takes a second to crack his neck. Gripping his buckler firmly he moves into an offensive stance. As he swings his blade high he fients and brings the short sword horizontal, aiming for the brutes exposed midsection. As the blade digs in he can feel the edge glance off the half-orcs ribs. Just as quickly as he strikes he assumes his defensive stance ready to parry or block his opponents blows. The confident look on Giggles face quickly turns to burning rage. With a sneer on his lips Darthen says, "Yargin, I hope you didn't have any dinner plans with your date tonight. Looks like she won't be making it." crit conf: Crit damage = 10 ![]()

[ooc]No go on the str check. The door in front of Darthen flies open with incredible speed. Quicker than he can react to it. As the door slams into his shoulder he involuntarily steps back. A huge half-orc takes up the entire doorway. His looks over Darthen and a his lips turn into a grin framing large yellow-brown teeth that could easily pass for tusks. Darthen takes a moment to rub his shoulder and stretch it out. With a wicked grin he says, "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." ![]()

Try the doorknob first? What do I look like a two bit hero? Nope not me. ;) I am going to post Darthens actions to help speed things up. I hope it is ok. As soon as his foot hits the door he realizes Lamm wasn't expecting any trouble at his warehouse. The flimsy door flexes for a brief second as it flies open hitting the wall behind it. It only takes a brief second for Darthen's eyes to adjust interiors light source. As they do a man stands up from behind his desk. Darthen answers the mans question with one word. "Lamm" As the word leaves his sneering lips he strides forward 5-foot step and swings his short sword in a downward arc towards the mans should. ![]()
![]() Can he tell if the door is in better shape than the rest of the building or is it just as ramshackle? That will determine how hard he will put his boot on it. Ramshackle = a good swift kick near the locking mechanism. Sturdy looking door = a nice jog up, get a little air, as he slams hit boot into it. Watch the door open as soon as he takes a flying kick at it. ![]()
![]() Yep, I think you are right. This is the description above, "On the west (street or front) of the building are a few small windows. The door, from which the two men emerged, is a closed double door." I got that confused when I read the part about the two loading some handcarts. So front door, and storm it. "As soon as we the others are ready we will start walking parallel to the warehouse. Once we are even with the ones out front we turn and storm their positions. "What the... You gave me a start there for a second. Making them crap their pants wasn't exactly what I had in mind when I said we would take the front. Can you do that once we get closer? If we go down looking like that they will either run inside and barricade the doors or come straight at us giving the others inside plenty of warning." ![]()

Are there any other people walking around the area? ![]()
![]() Darthen watches the others as the predictions are made, "Interesting. I'm sure most of us have heard of these... divinations. I can't help notice that some of the cards seem to intertwine with our own circumstances. However if there was one thing I have learned over the years is that we make our own destiny. These cards, if true, only tell us what may come based on our own decisions. Each of you can take what you want from the cards, but the bottom line is Lamm needs to be dealt with. We already have a base plan that, luck willing, will see us into warehouse without much trouble." He turns to Zellara, "Would you be willing to provide us with a quick meal before we leave? That will allow us to finish up any loose ends before we set out." After lunch we head out according to the plan? Jeorik, Heather, and myself going down to scout out the outside of the warehouse while the others wait close by. ![]()
![]() Darthen nods at the newcomer, "That's an interesting set of talents you have." With a hint of respect he finish by saying, "I think the two of us and you, Jeorik isn't it? ![]() "I can hold my own on the front as well. From what I have heard I am convinced that we need to take Lamm out now. We all have our reasons all of which seem justified to me. I guess what we need to figure out is the plan as someone said already. Running in with weapons drawn will get us killed. Waiting to long will put is in the same sinking boat. The district the warehouse is in will be his territory. Any kids or thugs you see will be in his pocket. My suggestion is for those of us with some street sense to case out the joint to see what his defenses look like. Now that he knows people are coming for him he will make sure to increase his thugs presence. Once we have seen the place the others will meet us close by the warehouse so we can plan our strategy."
