Male Human Sorcerer 1

Breathing a sigh of relief, Dannic follows the guards and whispers a prayer in hopes the group is not being led into a trap. Listening to the guard's speech he relaxes slightly and starts to ask about what's going on, but quickly shuts his mouth when he realizes the problems that could arise from being overheard by the wrong people here. Blackstone will tell us what we need to know when we get there, he admonishes himself silently.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

I figure we should stop a couple hours short of the lumber camp and try to avoid drawing attention.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Dannic looks around at the others, "I guess we know where to go now. She's right, we shouldn't stay here." Dannic shrugs and starts to head off.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

"Let's check on the slaver's family first. Then we should let Mr. Blackstone know you're in town and see what he knows."

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Having never been to Falcon's Hollow, Dannic is a bit taken aback by the other's reactions. It does seen a bit quiet, the only thing Dannic can think is that the slavers have scared people into staying home by ambushing them on the road. "This slave ring may be a bigger problem than we thought. Tiberius, is there someone in town you can trust?"

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Fort 1 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

Fort 2 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Thank the gods for prestidigitate

Male Human Sorcerer 1

No, the RNG hates me at all times.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

"Uh guys, I don't feel so good..." Dannic moans before scurrying off into the bushes...

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Male Human Sorcerer 1

"Agreed, speed is of the essence. They already have at least a day on us." Dannic shrugs when the money is brought up, then smirks and says "That's fine by me, makes you the better target on the road."

Male Human Sorcerer 1

"I figured as much, we'll set out first thing in the morning. We don't have the coin to purchase horses." Looking over at the others he says, "I'm going home to tell Ma what's going on and get one more night in my own bed. I'll meet you back here at dawn."
After a good night's rest Dannic leaves what little coin he has with his mother and returns to the mess hall just before daybreak prepared to set out.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

"Thank you sheriff. We'll get these folks taken care of, then we set out for Falcon's Hollow in the morning? Sheriff, I know this is asking a lot and I don't know if you even have it to give, but do you have horses we can use for the trip to Falcon's Hollow? The faster we get there the better it is for everyone."

Diplomacy if needed:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Male Human Sorcerer 1

"Either way, let's get him to the sheriff and we can figure out what to do from there."

Male Human Sorcerer 1

"That's exactly what I'm saying, my friend. I'm just not sure if we should keep the family there or try to move them out. It's risky either way."

Male Human Sorcerer 1

I'm still here. I've had a lot to do the last couple days, but I'm keeping up. There hasn't been much for Dannic to add until Garreck kind of broke the ice there.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

"Where is your family? Perhaps they could be spirited away and replaced by some folks who don't care much for slavery. What do you think Garreck? You know of any volunteers?" Dannic turns back towards the slaver and tells him, "You will face the consequences for your crimes, but we will do our best to protect your family. You need to tell us what you know about the operation so we can get moving as quickly as possible."

Male Human Sorcerer 1

I think my rl dice had a talk with the RNG on the board...lol

Male Human Sorcerer 1

"I told you, I'm not going to hurt you. You already know I can affect your mind. I can make you talk if I have to. I'm giving you the chance to talk of your own accord and possibly keep your head. I'm also not sure my associates will give you a better offer either. You're slaving days are over. I just want to know who you're working for."

Bluff roll if needed 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Dannic walks back to the slaver, kneeling beside him. Focusing his mind on getting the slaver to see him as a friend he says, "Come on, we just want to talk to you. We're not going to hurt you. We just want to know about you and your friends."

Male Human Sorcerer 1

"Garreck! Get him tied up quick!" Dannic looks over the ragtag bunch of slaves to see if any are wounded. "Don't worry, we'll get you back to the village and if he," Dannic glares at the slave driver, "tries anything else one of these 2 large gentlemen will make him wish he hadn't." Dannic grins at Garreck and Tiberius adding, "I do believe a visit to the magistrate is in order and I for one would love to know where he was heading."

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Dannic should 1 square to the right of Fell iirc. He backed up while the leader was dazed.
Dannic glares at the slave driver, "You just stay put a little while longer."
Dannic casts Daze on the slaver leader (Will DC 19)

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Backing away from the dazed slave driverDannic shouts to to Fell, "Thanks! Let's see if I can return the favor!" Gesturing at the man engaged with Fell he prays his own magical abilities are up to the task.

Dannic moves to Z-25 and casts Daze (DC 19) at slaver 4

Male Human Sorcerer 1

LOL...niiiiiiiice. And you thought the dice gods hated you;p I didn't have time to check it when I posted this morning, but that's just awesomely bad. I think there is a 1 point minimum, had it come up with kobolds before. In any case, I think that roll and Garreck's quote might become my new sig tomorrow:)

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Dannic desperately brings his staff back around as the slave driver goes for the slave's throat.

Attack: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (14) - 2 = 12

Damage: 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1

Male Human Sorcerer 1

The slave driver's coup de grace would provoke an AoO from Dannic.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

I'm going for slaver #7 if that helps. Sorry for taking so long, just got home a little while ago.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

The map isn't showing up for me, but it doesn't make any difference. I'm aware of the AoO, but Dannic won't stand by while the slave is threatened.
Dannic dashes forward swinging his staff as hard as he can at the slave driver.

Attack: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4

Damage: 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Dannic sighs as he realizes the slave will die if he doesn't act. Knowing he can't get a spell off in time, he grips his staff tightly and runs directly at the slaver. "Let him GO!

I don't believe I can charge him, so I will run up to him to make sure he is threatened if he attempts to kill the slave.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

"THE OTHER ONE!!!" Dannic shouts, pointing at slaver 1, when he sees Tiberius look to the south.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Dannic delays until Tiberius' turn
"Tiberius, take this one in front of me out!"

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Just so I'm clear, are the slave driver and slave 4 sharing a square?

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Obviously Garreck has stolen my rl dice.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Dannic curses as the shout goes up from the camp. "Fell, you got the one in front?" Getting an affirmative nod Dannic moves closer to the fight and his staff begins to glow.

Dannic moves to II-24 and casts light on his staff

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Daze? Did someone say Daze?

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Dannic cranes his neck to look up at the newcomer. "We should definitely stay together, but I would like to see how many guards they have before we attack. If we get lucky we could overwhelm the guards before the others can react."
Dannic pauses, knowing he has a few tricks up his sleeve the others don't know about. "I believe I can neutralize one of the guards for a few seconds if we get close enough before we attack."
Dannic takes a deep breath, realizing they will likely find out about his powers once the fight begins anyway, and continues, "I recently found out I have some magical talent. I used it to break up Bildon's last 'conversation' with Githa's son and I think I could use it like that now."

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Taking the offered hand Dannic says, "Dannic Ortha, welcome to Pirren's Bluff Tiberius."

Listening to the conversation, Dannic's eyes narrow as he puts the pieces together. "Slave traders? Why don't you talk to Ablamar, Garreck? I'll take our new friend to get him fed and you can meet up with us there. I don't have the coin to buy food, but Ma won't fixin something up for him."

Garreck wrote:
Dannic, sorry for "missing" you when you came walking into the blacksmith. I forgot to refresh before posting to check if anyone else had updated.

No problem, I can promise I'll be guilty of that sometimes myself.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

I'll go with green.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Dannic rubbed his eyes and willed himself out of bed as the sun blasted through his window. He had agreed to do some cleaning and errands for the smith Ablamar that morning. Dashing out the door with barely a word to his mother, he hurried over to the smithy.
First work I've gotten in a week and going to be late. With a sigh, he comes up to the smithy just behind a very large man he's never seen before. Shrugging he hurries in and calls out for Ablamar just as the man produces a set of broken manacles.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

No problem Jacob. That's just bookkeeping. One day difference in starting time isn't going to make a difference in the direction of the game.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

I'm a blend between the tactician and storyteller. In PbP I tend to go more to the storyteller side because it's such a good format for that.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Dannic is always around town doing odd jobs. He can be very flexible in where and how he could meet any of you. He doesn't do much physical labor, but between prestidigitation and his natural charisma he can usually get enough work to scrape by. He doesn't tell people about the magic yet because he's afraid of being run out of town. He knows the distrust most people have of wizards and that they would see him in much the same way.

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Da comrade. (and with that I've exhausted my knowledge of Russian)

Male Human Sorcerer 1

Dot

Looks good to me too. I'm really looking forward to playing this character, been toying around with the idea for awhile.

For story reasons Dannic won't learn any of the Infernal stuff. He hates devils almost as much as slavers. He will have UMD however, so he can pick up some of the slack with wands and scrolls.

No problem, I can work in something else. Given your back story it wouldn't make sense. The personalities just struck me as making good friends.

I'm in, posted the fluff on him a few minutes ago. Let me know if you want anything changed or fleshed out more. I THINK the char sheet is OK, but might want to check it out, I've changed it a couple times and might be a good idea to make sure I got all the numbers lined up correctly.

Here is the full version of Dannic

Dannic:
1. Dannic-Sorcerer, until recently taking on odd jobs to scrape by
2. Dannic is an affable young man, just coming into his own. He is just learning to deal with his newfound powers. He has taken almost every odd job in town and isn’t above laying it on a little thick to squeeze a few extra coppers from an employer. He can’t stand a bully and delights in embarrassing them. He is generous with what little he has and is always willing to help someone in need. Anger can cloud his judgment when dealing with slavers and bullies.
3. Dannic hates slavery and bullying with every fiber of his being. He is opposed to killing unless it is absolutely necessary, preferring to humble and shame people who take advantage of others. As he has always been a little smaller and weaker than most of the other boys his age, he learned the value of a quick wit and a kind word both. Lying and stealing to achieve an objective is OK as a tactical move or in matter of survival. Using mind affecting magic is acceptable when dealing with slavers and bullies, especially to embarrass them or teach them a lesson or in a life threatening situation.
4. Dannic’s father was captured by slavers when he was 8 years old and he has always felt guilty for being able to escape. He and his mother got by doing odd jobs around town until at the age of 15 Dannic began to display some magical ability. It was minor, for instance, when he wished out loud one day that a particularly frustrating knot would come out of a rope, it did completely on its own.
As his power started to grow he realized he had a knack for compulsion spells (fey bloodline). He decided there was no better way to get back at slavers than to control their minds just as they tried to control another's body. He realized the slippery slope he was walking and vowed to never use his mind effecting magic except against slavers and other oppressors or unless he was in mortal danger. He views his use of enchantments as fighting fire with fire. He has drawn the ire of a local thug, Bildon Greenwold, by dazing him and letting his latest victim get away.
5. Friends: Mother Helena, potentially Tiberius as they share a similar outlook
Foes: Bildon Greenwold
6. Short term goal: Free the slaves in this shipment, cause a dent in local slave operations, embarrass and potentially get Bildon arrested.
Medium term goals: Eliminate slave trading in the immediate area, establish some sort of charity for victims of the slave trade
Long term goals: Help undermine the Chelaxian government and abolish their slave trade.
7. Poor judgment at times, balancing his desire for freedom against his talent for mind control magic
8. In profile.
9. In profile.

I could actually help some with planning for the other group. The party in the table top game I was running met an unfortunate end, and we're switching GM's. Let me know if you want to try it and we can get something worked out. I'll have the full Dannic story up by late tonight too.

About Tweedledumbass

I can't believe nobody's made me change the name of this alias yet.
