Heya people,

This is one of those uncanny, strange situations when Real Life takes precedence over gaming - just today I started on a new job, a real challenge that I think may actually change things for me (and my family) in the future.

It is IT related [one if my areas of expertise I guess ;)], and most likely means soon I will be sitting in front of a laptop on my own, with enough autonomy to spend my time as I see fit - improving in my ITIL knowledge, posting on one of my numerous PbP games, whatever...

The thing is, I need to commit to this one, so it means some serious decisions regarding my games - I simply cannot stick with all of them, so I have taken the decision to stick with my oldest games, ones I have committed to long ago, and which have stuck with me for a looooong time.

Corsario, what you are doing is simply amazing. The level of commitment to this game is something honestly out of the ordinary, and I can only hope to someday live up to it. But not right now - I am going to drop out of your game, in spite of admiring your work, and the group of players you have managed to gather.

I can only hope me leaving will be something quickly assimilated, and look forward to the chance of having an opportunity to play with you all in a near future, RL permitting.

I am honestly sorry for dropping out... I wish you all a great game (and I am sure it will be so), and Corsario, thanks for giving me a chance of playing in your game - it was honestly worthwhile.

Thank you all again.

Sorry guys, I am not sure - is the owlbear down?

Round 4

With fabled elven persistence and patience, Daliedhur relentlessly peppers the monstrosity with arrows - she realizes the effect is not devastating, and wishes she could do more as the sense of urgency increases, with her companions being victim of massively strong attacks.

She continues to push Leaf to move around the creature, trying to find some spot where the dust does not offer it any cover.

Round 3

Daliedhur urges Leaf onwards, and around the Owlbear position, always looking to avoid the concealment.

Ride: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28

When she manages to reposition, a hail of arrows falls on the creature.

Is the owlbear chasing Mulray? If so, is he out of the cloud of debris, and of concealment?

Apologies for the delay people - last couple of days have been really busy with job hunting.

On a side note, I will be travelling today with the family, and until about midday Tuesday - internet access will be limited to phone, so posting will probably be irregular.

Female Elf // Init +5; Senses low-light vision; Perception +13 // Fort +8, Ref +10, Will +4; +2 vs. enchantments // hp 52/66

Hehe, ok. I'm not much of a Map Maker... Guess we'll just have to play it by ear? ;)

Daliedhur keeps pushing Leaf backwards and to the side, wanting to keep as much safe distance between them and the gigantic creature, while trying to obviate the cover provided to it by the cloud of dust.

Ride: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26

Again she unleashes a barrage of arrows at the creature - "Clear the streets" - she continues shouting to all those around her.

From her position, Daliedhur guides Leaf slightly to the left side, trying to move around the cloud of debris, and unleashes a barrage of arrows at the creature.

Corsario, how far is the creature exactly from Daliedhur? I think I could fire some arrows, just for good measure :D

Where could such massive creature have come from without us noticing it? - the elf ponders.

I've put up a previsional version of Daliedhur at level 7, with the loot rules and changes after the Stag Lord combat - still finishing the review though.

Will have some details on Leadership later today ;)

Seraph Whitemoor wrote:
Seraph, still carrying Maria, gives the wounded baroness a light squeeze to comfort her. "No need for apologies, but next time let someone else shoot the arrow..." She say this in a teasing manner, despite the fact a broken arrow is still lodged in her back. Her comment was aimed at Daliedhur, their expert bow-woman(?).

The elven woman nods with a smile at Seraph's reference - "I will be happy to offer some training in handling the bow, if you ever so desire it, but unfortunately, regardless of how much will one puts behind a shot, its accuracy is never fully guaranteed" - she adds at MAria.

I guess the Stag Helm will have to wait until a certain wizard is back to check it thoroughly :D

Not sure what to do as far as Leadership goes with Daliedhur - the most logical thing would be to keep the Ravens, buts supposedly those are Edeldhur's followers :D More in discussion later on.

Astride Leaf, Daliedhur takes in the celebrations - even though she is not interested in being kissed, she accepts the praise firm in the belief that their victory was indeed an important one.

She smiles to the people and children around them, as affable as she can muster, while thinking about all the tasks still ahead of them, and already making plans for the deployment of necessary forces to incorporate the area previously controlled by the Stag Lord, namely the undead menace that still lingers there.

----------------

As the commotion begins, and screams are heard in the distance, she spots the building crumbling to the ground - immediately turning Leaf around, she casts a spell to enhance her bow.

Casting Gravity Bow.

Seraph Whitemoor wrote:
When the screams start Seraph moves to defend Maria and Tatiana, drawing her greatsword as the dust cloud settles around them. "Find cover Miladies. Halcorg, Daliedhur, Spread out and get ready, whatever it is it's Big. Don't let it catch us all in the open."

Nodding, she urges her horse at a brisk but careful pace towards the unfolding events, while shouting to the people all around - "Move out of the streets!"

To the Ravens, she signals in a quick motion for them to take a roundabout scouting approach to the area, while herself stretches to see what may be happening.

People, just a heads up.

My girls' Summer vacations have began this week, so my posting may become sparse at times. My apologies in advance if it happens.

I will be usually around, and can probably keep up, but kids + Summer + Vacations = Mostly unpredictable ;)

Female Elf // Init +5; Senses low-light vision; Perception +13 // Fort +8, Ref +10, Will +4; +2 vs. enchantments // hp 52/66

Daliedhur's lips curl up in a grin as the Stag Lord falls under the combined attacks of his companions. She stands watch momentarily as the interaction proceeds with the Lizardfolk, but seeing the situation well in hand, proceeds in scouting out the rest of the fortification - she looks for supplies, weaponry, guard posts, living quarters, and in general tries to get a feeling for the organization of the place, and how they cn set about making it their own - "I am going to scout out the logistics of this place" - she informs Seraph and Xi'Tir before moving out.

Her first order of business is finding a place to accomodate LEaf and the other animals that have been taken along with them, and take it from there.

Well done everyone - coordination was not the best, but hey, living and learning ;)

Someone cast Detect Magic on the Stag Lord - I think I may want a second look at that bow of his :D

Female Elf // Init +5; Senses low-light vision; Perception +13 // Fort +8, Ref +10, Will +4; +2 vs. enchantments // hp 52/66

Ok, so if I understand correctly, the bandit next to me is now a non-hostile, right? Also, the Stag Lord has cover, but not full cover - also correct? In that case:

In case he has full cover:

Daliedhur drops down, dropping her sword next to her, and taking a shot at the Stag Lord.

Longbow Attack: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (9) + 18 = 27

In case he has partial cover:

The elf takes a bead from where she stands, and unleashes three arrows at the Stag Lord.

Damage if it hits: 2d6 + 14 ⇒ (4, 3) + 14 = 21

Seraph: No, it's just a walkway. These bandits are not very good at housekeeping or making / maintaining fortifications

I thought it would be possible to simply hold the bow in one hand (isn't this like a free action or something for a melee weapon? Changing grip?), and draw the sword with the other - if not possible then yeah, Daliedhur will drop the bow ;)

As for the bonuses, thanks Xi'Tir, that's exactly it - I was only factoring +1 from Inspire Courage :/

Daliedhur turns on the bandit attacking her with a snarl- "You are a FOOL! And you will die for that" - her feral nature showing clearly.

The elf draws her longsword in a quick movement, and attacks twice in quick succession.

Best move ever Tatiana ;) That should get most of our team who were down, back on their feet, and next round Daliedhur will turn her attention back inside and to those bastard bandits that prefer death over surrender, and who keep peppering us with arrows.

Female Elf // Init +5; Senses low-light vision; Perception +13 // Fort +8, Ref +10, Will +4; +2 vs. enchantments // hp 52/66

Tarina, I left a few healing pots there for Xi'Tir or any other of the wounded - perhaps you could pour them down her throat? :D

Corsario, we are not up again yet, correct?

Female Elf // Init +5; Senses low-light vision; Perception +13 // Fort +8, Ref +10, Will +4; +2 vs. enchantments // hp 52/66

Daliedhur drops her backpack close to Tarina - "I have two healing potions in there - use them if you need to get Xi'Tir back on her feet" - the elf growls at seeing her companion fall again, then takes a bead on one of the bandits in sight.

Corsario, I think I can target Fat Norry from below?

Longbow Attack on Fat Norry: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29

I think for Leaf this works without a roll? I am rolling for the other horses outside. Leaf will move to 80.10.

Female Elf // Init +5; Senses low-light vision; Perception +13 // Fort +8, Ref +10, Will +4; +2 vs. enchantments // hp 52/66

Daliedhur stands ready - bow drawn, and ready to fire if the bandits do not comply.

"We need also to find the way to open the gate and allow the others inside - something is wrong" - she adds, looking around to try and understand how the gate is operated.

Female Elf // Init +5; Senses low-light vision; Perception +13 // Fort +8, Ref +10, Will +4; +2 vs. enchantments // hp 52/66

Hehe, I'm 'offering' that last one to Falgrim Sneeg, as a present for having downed Xi'Tir - elves can carry grudges for millenia :D

Female Elf // Init +5; Senses low-light vision; Perception +13 // Fort +8, Ref +10, Will +4; +2 vs. enchantments // hp 52/66

FFS! Just realized I was not adding Favored Enemy correctly...

Daliedhur is terribly torn on her next actions - Leaf is just behind her, and she understand he will not be able to move inside alongside her. But her decision bears no hesitation as the elf sees her companions fall one after the other to the onslaught of attacks.

Shifting her position inside, her eyes glow with anger at the responsible ones - the elven bow speaks for her as she launches her attacks, uttering a single word - "Enough!"

Shifting to 77.18, and raining hell. Gonna use a heropoint for an extra attack. Target priority will be on those around Xi'Tir, depending on who, if any, gets dropped by Halcorg :D If none are dropped, she will go Cragger -> Falgrim -> Bandit -> Ayles as priority, shifting to the next one, if any falls.

Halcorg's initiative count is first than Daliedhur, so if he drops the gate, it means Daliedhur is stuck outside, correct? Or did he delay?

Corsario, what penalties will Daliedhur incur if she shoots through the gate (assuming it has openings...)?

Female Elf // Init +5; Senses low-light vision; Perception +13 // Fort +8, Ref +10, Will +4; +2 vs. enchantments // hp 52/66

Ok, thanks Corsario. I that case:

Daliedhur shifts her position, and unleashes a barrage of arrows at the prone Jeb, wanting to clear a path of ingress - "Just a few moments more Halcorg. We will soon take the entrance"

After having enhanced her bow with magic, Daliedhur decides to push inside, as it seems no space will be created for her or Leaf to push through.

Moving 76.17->77.18->78.18->79.17->79.16->79.15->79.14->80.13 and eating whatever AoOs I have to.

Leaf follows after Daliedhur.

I apologize for the absence again - Corsario, could we assume Daliedhur had casted Gravity Bow?

Daliedhur had been observing the combat unfolding, trying to ascertain exactly how to obviate the terrible positioning and lay out of the field, as far as an archer is concerned.

She decides to shift her position to get an aim at the man attacking Halcorg. In the hope of offering the huge ranger some respite, she lets three arrows fly in quick succession at the one trying to prevent her companion from holding the gate.

Shifting to 75.17, and attacking Jex, the Snitch.

Rapid Shot 1: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Damage if it hits: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 5) + 10 = 16

Rapid Shot 2: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Damage if it hits: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 6) + 10 = 17

Rapid Shot 3: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Damage if it hits: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 1) + 10 = 12

I think I may be looking at a -8 penalty to hit here (-4 from soft cover and -4 from the corner where the Snitch is located). Someone should get me flying :D

Apologies for the absence people - my youngest got sick so it has been a runaround weekend thus far... Catching up on my games as I can.

Tatiana, with the Wind Wall Daliedhur is also unable to target the archers, correct? Just deciding on my first action.

Init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Oh my...

Female Elf // Init +5; Senses low-light vision; Perception +13 // Fort +8, Ref +10, Will +4; +2 vs. enchantments // hp 52/66

It's gonna be tightly packed in there, that's for sure :D

Corsario, I'll decide on Leaf when we are at the gates - are we there now? If so, does our whole convoy fit in there? :D

They don't fit in the fort, or through the gate?

Corsario, my logic for bringing Leaf along has a couple of reasons:
- mechanically he is my animal companion, and plays an important part on Daliedhur's role as a Ranger
- he affords her extreme mobility since she can move and full attack,
- he affords higher ground to mitigate cover penaltes and offer melee advantage to her in case it is needed,
- he is a competent combatant on his own in case Daliedhur is engaged in melee (mainly if engaging one of my favoured enemies - the bonus is at +4 at the moment vs. humans for example - a full attack from Leaf is +7Bite(1d4+9), 2x +7hooves for 1d6+9 damage each)
- He does not have a ton of hp, nor a dramatically high AC, but that looks pretty decent to me. Even if I just stand there, riding Leaf without moving, I am at an advantage
- Additionally he is currently sporting Improved Overrun with a +11 CMB against humans, so he can push hard if needed
- He's got half decent saves, and Daliedhur has a nice +14 in riding and an average +8 (+12 with Wild Empathy) in Animal Handling, so she should be able to handle him in most situations.

Those are my reasons for wanting to bring Leaf along. The other side of things is that whereas Edeldhur is her blood brother, Leaf is as much as an adopted brother - she sees him as family, and not as simply a mount - for that reason she hesitates a lot in parting with him. BUT if you think it a bad idea, I'll leave him behind :D

As for the situation at hand:

Daliedhur manages to not throttle the gnome, but barely, starting to wonder if he isn't a traitor himself in revealing their intent so openly.

Her attention is quickly diverted as she spots 3 or 4 people hiding behind the front watch tower palisade, immediately warning her companions - "There" - she nods towards the hiding place - "There are at least three hiding there"

Are we on Initiative? ;)

Female Elf // Init +5; Senses low-light vision; Perception +13 // Fort +8, Ref +10, Will +4; +2 vs. enchantments // hp 52/66

Daliedhur remains unmounted as they move ahead, taking Leaf by the hand, and sticking close to the others.

She watches their surroundings closely, on edge for what is to come, observing her companions, the walls, the guards, and the area all around them.

Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28(+2 to this if vs. humans)

She acknowledges the shared comments about Halcorg's deductions with a simple nod - feeling like a spring ready to snap if combat ensues, she pats Leaf to calm herself.
