Background:
Dagon gained his first taste of true glory and freedom at the Isvaan V Dropsite Massacre distinguishing himself well enough to be given command of his own squad of new recruits to train and induct into the new ways.
Dagon never got to set foot on Terra, kept of the flagship. Though he was not able to fight beside the Warmaster he was able to kill a Blood Angel Terminator and claimed the loyalist’s combi melta as his prize. The retreat order was given and there was not time to salvage the potent armour.
Alongside the rest of the Sons of Horus he was left adrift and listless. Abaddon brought some sense of order back to the Legion. It was not to the taste of Dagon, Abaddon was powerful and had ambition but lacked the charisma and grace of Horus. When Abaddon puts the call out for a Black Crusade of course Dagon will show up to spread his reputation and earn a share of the spoils but it is always for his and the Dark Gods’ benefit rather than to help Abaddon.
Dagon became known as Dagon the Unworthy during Abaddon’s third Black Crusade. He had made enemies of one of the powerful sorceror’s who was rising in prestige. To summon a Greater Daemon a sacrifice was needed, seeking to curry favour a lieutenant of the Sorceror suggested Dagon. His foe looked over at him and said, “No. Dagon is unworthy of such an honour. Take that one.” They did take the sacrifice with Dagon’s aid and the day was one. But amongst initially the members of the Legion but since he became known as Dagon the Unworthy, almost as a jest regarding his good fortune.
Dagon begun cultivating his own power base, recruiting a band of mutants, renegades and cultists with command of an Infidel Class ship. He managed to form an alliance with another warband and performed a raid deep into Imperial space. Not even the unexpected attention of a squad of Marines Errant could stop them. Dagon was very pleased to be able to salvage a suit of aquila pattern armour from his share of the spoils.
This seemed to attract some unwanted attention and his ship was over run by Inquisitorial forces.
