Awesome all. I will finish up Harg and update him here. Just got a few things to buy, skills to set, etc. will have something by the weekend.

I think a trial run will be good. Don’t want to sign up for something long term if it’s not a great fit. But even joining you all for something small will be great.

And if it feels good. We can continue it!

So I had a nice chat with Poly. His idea of a seneareo or module to get a feel for all the characters does sound fun. This way I can test out the format again, see how I feel. Worst case I say my good'byes and move on from then. Otherwise I join up if it fits with my life and I fit with the group.

So I am tempted to join up. I am going to finish up my character and move on from there.

As for HP. I honestly forgot how we did it. I assumed it was just #1. Roll the HP and thats what you get. Maybe we did "reroll 1s" or something. Since I am building Harg from scratch again I am happy to do whatever everyone else says.

My plan is to be a melee build. A few spells, but in the frey. Squishier than Gauntlet, but with some burst damage.

Everyone ok with this? Just to see how I fit in?

I understand. I do want to play this AP. I just really don't want it to cause too much of a stir for everyone else.

Posting here does not need to a constant every day thing. This group is not the fastest in the world, which is good.

I am very curious how the GM would deal with a 4th. Gestalt is more powerful. But with 3 characters the balance kinda works out.. mostly.

So.. I have been flip flopping in my head for awhile. I do enjoy playing PF1, even if I have issues with the system. My wife is GMing a PF1 Mummy's mask where I play 2 characters. Using the Hero Lab iPad app makes things pretty damn easy to play a character. Not so much GMing.

All that said, my wife asked how many games I was playing or GMing in. I am realizing I have too many on my plate.

So in the interest of balance, as well as allowing something to fall off my plate, and not just replaced, I think I am going to not join up.

I am torn.. I even built a fun Gestalt Magus/Slayer Hard build. But I need to use this as a chance to save myself from doing too much.

Thank you for being willing. I know I would enjoy playing and I am very curious about the AP. I have GMed the 1st book twice now, and love the setting. It might just be one too many things.

I hope it all goes well, and roll well!

I am going to keep up my RSS feed for the story and Discussion. I will enjoy reading along as you all keep playing. :)

Yeah. It does feel a bit like writers block, but for pf1. I love the adventure, but the math hurts me a bit now.

I don't think I will join back up though. I appreciate the offer. I have moved most of my play to discord. If I change my mind I will jump into OOC :)

I am going to PM you the transcript of the discord portion of the game.

Oh and if you email customer.service@paizo.com and point them to the actual game. And also point them here for proof that I said its ok, they will let you take it over. Pretty easy.

Hello Poly.

I am that recently-departed GM. I appreciate you greatly in taking this over. I have some sort of mental block when it comes to PF1 games. Having a hard time looking at the stat blocks!

Anyway, this group has been great. I joined up as a player and took over when the GM left mid book 1.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I can make sure the game here is transitioned over to you. I can even provide a transcript of the Discord portion of the game if you wish.

Throw me a PM if you have any questions.

Done.

Invited you both. Send PMs. See you there.

I know Basil is down to switch. So lets see what Thawm wishes to do.

Ok... I have been totally MIA for months now. I have some huge mental block with posting to the forums. Partly because of difficultly posting on them at work.

I am sorry for abandoning these threads. I think there is just something keeping me from posting here. I wish I could put it into words.

ANYWAY.. I don't think I can continue this AP here on the forum. For that I am sorry, but I do want to offer an option. Do you want to move over to Discord? I have been able to keep those up and don't have the same mental block there.

Either way thank you all for playing with me. I enjoyed it all. If everyone is up for moving over we can do it seamlessly. If only some wish to transfer over we can talk about options.

I hope all of you are well. Thank you again, and I hope there are no hard feelings either way. May you roll high.

Combat started as soon as Mosquito fell. I am assuming that in that time people tied up rope. No one else jumped down, so everyone is up at the hole looking down ready to repel (and not get hurt). Also those are pillars in the room. The floor is worked stone. With some rubble of the walls broken. This looks and feels like a old, but nice room. The walls almost look melted. The walls seem almost magical in nature. (after combat you can do a Arcana/Nature on it to figure out whats up with it)

Beryl heals up Mosquito. She also remembers fighting some of these in the past in the old castle. These are Charau-kas. They are not native from here at all. And they enjoy eylling very hard and rush into battle.

You would remember this from before. So you can regain that action if you wish

Round 1
Bertrum, Beryl(1 action remaining if you want) <--
Yroack (B1), Yash (M1)
Mosquito, Enara
Oback (B2), Malarunk,
Phai(-3)
Retchskree (M2)

Gauntlet connects hard with the robot, and Basil's attack brings it down fully. It fall its into a hump of smoking debris.

The other one spins and turns looking around for other targets?

Round 4
Thawm, Basil (-13), Gauntlet (-6) <--
R2

Gauntlet's strike hits true, scratching the armor with the blade!

Basil's shot launches straight past the armor of the creature into its core. It starts to grind and smoke a little, but keeps moving and attacking.

The robot creatures wirr and bur to eachother. The one attacking Gauntlet waits a bit for its other to flank successfuly. Then they both attack together.

R1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
R2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

Both missing, they turn their heads to look for Basil, seeing Gauntlet as a too hard of a enemy.

Basil. Is this greater invisibility or normal? ie are you visible now?

Round 4
Thawm, Basil (-13), Gauntlet (-6) <--
R1(-35), R2

Sorry for delay will get this sorted in a good way

Mosquito slams into the bottom, hittins his head. Then jumps back up and looks around, while rope is being attached up above.

This area seems to have once been a small complex of rooms, but their original use is anyone’s guess today, for some ancient catastrophe seems to have melted the walls in places, leaving behind a half-demolished complex. In the few places where the walls are still intact, however, the delicate carvings indicate that whoever once built these rooms was a skilled artisan. Far to the southwest, a partially melted stone archway opens into a larger room.

Then the yelling is heard "Ah!! Distraction! Find it! Kill it! AHH!!!"

And many creatures attack. Lead by 2 Boggards, and 3 strange monkey creatuers, with one looking like the leader yelling at the group.

Yroack Init: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Malarunk Init: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15

Everyone above can go down with 1 action to slide down the rope. The map is updated. Mosquito is already standing and sees them approach

Oh man! That is a lot all around.

I hope you feel better Mosquito. Quick recover. Sudden moving to Florida...

Also Enara, Take your time. I understand needing space.

@Everyone, sorry for disappearing again. Will try to continue along a little.

Ceiling is about 10 feet. Not very large. The green thing is a strange platform/stage/pulpit only a few feet up.

Basil is able to deftly move around the creature who seems to have lost her in its sensors.

The robots continue their assult against Gauntlet, with the previous one stepping into Basil's old square before turning on the Summoner.

R1 vs Gauntlet: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
R2 vs Gauntlet: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Both small machines seem to buzz their blades against armor, they shift and twist looking toward Thawm, who seems to not have as much hardness around her.

Round 3
Thawm, Basil (-13), Gauntlet (-6) <--
R1(-25), R2

While it takes awhile, the cold energy from Phai shrivels and kills all the fungus in the room. When it is first struck it releases large amounts of spores into the room, but it only goes about 10 feet. Easily out of range of the people on the ledge.

Eventually it is cleared out fully.

The group eventually makes their way across and sees a deep hole. It goes down about 20 feet into some other chamber. The cave wall is very smooth. Climbing down would be difficult. Climbing up even more so.

They are likely a hazard. Which means, in pf2, they CAN usually be disabled of some kind. The method for this is to use Survival. Still learning how to handle Hazards, so sorry if I didn't telegraph it well enough.

I will allow someone to try to disable with a survival, THOUGH only someone who is an expert. If they fail then it will roll initiative

For flavor sake you would try to disable these by destroying them without disturbing them

Thawm's ray erodes into the metal of this machine Destroying a chunk of it.

Both of Gauntlets strikes hit, but so much is absorbed into the hard surface.

Round 2
Thawm, Basil (-13), Gauntlet (-6) <--

Enara thinks she has heard of these before. Gloomglow Mushrooms. You know they can sicken people if you get too close..

The tunnel widens, the drops away in a series of ten foot high cliffs into a chamber filled with fine, hair like filaments and mushrooms. The filaments look like bleached grass and wave erratically with the cave's natural air currents. The mushrooms glow slightly, giving the cave a strange, dreamlight feel. To the south, a seven foot wide hole in the floor drops down into a chamber below.

As you move down the tunnel, Mosquito stops in the last little cliff step looking down on the field of filaments and mushrooms. It is a 10 foot drop down into the strange glowing field.

All of you are in single file line, but can shuffle about if needed. You are unsure what is in the hole itself.

Nature to know what these things are

New month, new Hero Point. Enjoy.

Let me know how you would like to proceed. Also if items are all divied up.

Basil's shot strikes trough, and true to her memory the adamantine goes straight through the creature's exterior plating. The creature keeps moving and going toward Guantlet.

One of the appendedges starts to spin and lashes out at Gauntlet.
R1 vs Gauntlet: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Damage: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 1) + 4 = 6

The other robot climbes behind the strange pillars and runs up to Basil spinning a similar blade at her. Pushing in harder than the other

R2 vs Basil: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 - 2 = 23
Damage: 2d4 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 4) + 4 + 4 = 13

I think Beryl uses Crafting to do her Medicine checks. So these gloves don't directly help with it.

As for the spider lady, she seems to be staying back. So you are not sure. Seemingly hiding still.

The funny thing is.. I don't think I made it. Not sure who did... Might have actually have been Mosquito. :)

Gauntlet crashes into this robot, but the strike hits hard material absorbing some of the damage.

He recognizes some of the features of these machines. They seem to be made of hard material, so they will absorb some damage (hardness 5). They are also are vulnerable to hard hits and electricity (crits and electricity).

Getting a bit closer to the purple towers, Gauntlet notices a port you could plug in some sort of cable. There is also a striking similarity to battery technology, on a huge form. Similar to silverdisks contained and glowing inside the containers.

Sitting down among the bones of the creatures that the Barghest considered its worshipers, the heroes are healed up and brought up to tip top form.

The cave is dark and a bit wet. There are smells of mold and a strange draft occasionally.

Now that everyone has been at tip top shape they can head further into this strange cave system.

They also get to decide who gets all the new fancy items.

With the creature felled the group has a chance to look around the extra room.

Among plenty of bones.

DC 12 Medicine:

Most of these are goblinoid in origin, though some human, elf, and orc bones included in the mix

A few rib cages are set aside that still wear armor.

Loot
+1 Breastplate
+1 chain shirt

If the group goes through all the bones and other debris.

DC 18 Perception:

When the group is ready to go further into the cave, describe how you wish to go in.

Sounds like a good solution all around, other than Mosquito not getting to be his little Chaos Goblin. But its passed down in his family :)

Thanks all!

Yeah this map is confusing for me for some reason. The 2 sets of stairs (the one you went down and opposite you) both go to the same place. The top floor had 2 methods of going down. The other set of stairs was actually behind a door, but you now have the keycard.

With a new keycard in hand the group moves through this area quietly checking things out.

To the south is a door which behind is a set of stairs leading down, but before heading down the group checks some of the other rooms here.

To the north is another small room. This one looks to be filled with twisted metal and debris, a weird combinatino of bedroom and personal shrine.

Looking through this room you find an open book. It looks to be a Prayer book. Quickly flipping through it it looks to be a Journal and Holy book dedicated to Hellion. The language seems like Orc, thankfully Keldor/Gauntlet can read it. Scanning through it, it is written in dense crabbed writting. Looks like a combination of prayers and lots of description of Hellion and plans.

Keldor would need a DC 20 Linguistics check and 2d4 hours of study to get more out of it.

The final room is also locked behind a white lock. This room has 4 large pillars with glowing bands of purple light pulsing down their sides. They look to be holding power of some kind. Scurrying around these pillares are 2 scrapped together machines of some kind who seem to detect you and scurry your direction.

Init:

R1: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
R2: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18

Basil: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Gauntlet: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Thawm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Both Basil and Gauntlet see them approach and are quick to respond.

I put Gauntlet at the door, Basil and Thawm just behind

Thank you all for your understanding.

So for next steps, I plan on continuing this part, but there is not a terrible amount left. Can I leave it in all of your hands to find another GM? It would be great if there was a smooth transition instead of me just going away and leaving things empty for awhile.

I would love for you three to be able to continue without too much of a hickup.

If anyone of you make a find a GM request I will happily chime into the thread. Just let me know.

Mosquito's hit strikes down, with a brief moment of relief as the blinking creature leaves for a second. Still some serious damage is done.

The small summoned' mephit is unable to get through the armor of the beast, even with it distracted on both sides.

Relldar reflex: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27
The large creature dodges out of the way of the bolt, and while some of it would strike true it mostly hits while he is blinking out of existance, causing no damage from the electricity

Enara's second strike hits true, landing straight into the creature's side. Even with the blinking nature of the creature it hits hard and fast.

With a quick stab through the face the blinking beast flashes for a second, but falls limp on the ground with the rapier stuck into its head. Still flickering as the magic fades it dead and limp on the floor.

The group is able to quickly remove the poison from the few people with lingering poison in their system.

As the group looks around the room, it is a bit messy with the battle, but they notice a narrow side room with various things in it, as well as a tunnel going further into the cave.

100% Appreciate you Mosquito! I am glad you have experience with the AP and are willing to jump in. Thank you thank you thank you.

You are nearish to the end, I will see it through to that point, but you let me know when you would like to take over. If its sooner, that works for me.

I want to reiterate I enjoyed playing with all of you. I don't want any characters to die in the transition of this game. So thanks for keeping it alive.

I also think the way Mosquito is built it could easily be a GMPC haha.. Chaos goblin.

Botting Phai

Sudden Bolt, Electricity, DC 20 Reflex: 4d12 ⇒ (5, 12, 5, 11) = 33
Creature Reflex: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32 Crit Success no damage

The creature dodges out of the way of the magical bolt of electricity. Then bares down on Bertrum in front of him.

Clas vs Bertrum: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Damage: 2d10 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (9, 8) + 6 + (6) = 29

The creature lashes out at Berturm hard, the fangs connect, but the following claw misses. With a growl the Barghest blinks again then again into the room.
2d8 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5
First time closer to the wall, then again back where it was near Enara.

So.. I have been thinking things through and I think I am going to need to stop GMing this game. Really everything on the Forums. I know we have been on break for other's real life things, so this might seem like an odd time, but I have been thinking about it for awhile.

I should be starting a new job soon, and I am trying to remove some additional items in my life. This Forum has been tricky keep going and keeping myself coming back.

So what I would like to do is continue this AP till the end of the book. Giving us time to hopefully find a replacement GM to replace me. If people want. So if anyone wants to go on the hunt I will happy pass over the reigns. Either way once the book is done I will be signing off.

I hope everyone understands and isn't furious at me. I do hope to see yall around, and it has been great playing with each of you.
(I am pasting this into multiple games, but its 100% true for everyone)

The door itself slides open without difficulty. It seems like its mostly stealthly hidden in the wall. Once opened you see a long tunnel that leads to the other room.

Its almost like it could be used to pincer someone, but with the doors open its a dumb tunnel :)

Updated Roll20. This map is odd. I need to double check doors. Also prety sure Basil will be more available starting next week. So we should be able to get it moving again then. Partly my fault for not updating. I will try to post another more detailed post soon.

Enara: I did actually already, when the turn rolls over I have been rolling damage and flat check. Check last Friday's post. You should be -4 HP right now. Which it looks like you have tracked. I just figured I will do it. So its not lost track of. As long as our HP/damage numbers match up

Bertrum: yeah the Blink and its natural resistances are rough! You are done some solid damage though.

I am going to hold out botting Phai. I am pretty sure she will be available more starting next week. She told me in another game. She has been running at 100% I think. So as long as people are cool waiting.

Bertrum: Sustain is an action you need to do to keep it going. Lets say you sustained instead of power attacked. Easy enough to fix since you didn't hit. You should also give the little summon 2 actions

Mosquito shifts and smacks the creature down hard, though the blinking body of the large beast seems to absorb some of the damage.

Bertrum continues his assult on the creature, but misses his massive blinking form.

Beryl heals up Enara, but doesn't quite help remove the poison from the wound.

Enara strikes the creature and seems to nick into it a bit.

Everyone shifting around the battlefield the Barghest lashes out at Enara and Mosquito.

Claw vs Mosquito: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18

The bite lands hard on the rogues's shoulder releasing poison into her bloodstream.

Annoyined that his claw missed he lashes out again at Mosquito
Claw vs Mosquito: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

Yeah I feel like Blink would totally cause a problem :P

Yes he cast Blink on himself. He now has resistance 5 to nearly everything.

That is also why he blinked to the side and is flashing/strobing

edit: Though Character wise you may not know that. You can roll Arcana to know.

Bertrum. You do not have the AoO. I believe only mosquito has it as a feat. It is a feat that Fighters start out with. Druids can not get it unless you take dedications I believe. Also when you do it, it is a 1 action attack. So no Power Attack, since that is a 2 action attack. Also the +1 Halbert does not give +1 to damage. Its only to attack. PF2 uses Striking runes which add another damage die. There is no +1 to damage from magic weapons now

Flanking means the enemy is flat footed, so that lowers their AC no bonus to attack. You can keep your d20 roll if you wish for your turn

Phai he is just 30 feet away from you. So you have another action if you wish

Ralldar Reflex: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29

The blinking creature tries to dodge out of the way of the blast, but takes some of it still. Though you notice some of the damage goes through it as it blinks over and over in place.

Bertrum Poison: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Mosquito Poison: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Bertrum Flat Check: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Mosquito Flat Check: 1d20 ⇒ 1

Both Bertrum and Mosquito get damage from the poison applied last round, And they are unable to remove it off their bodies.

Both Basil and Gauntlet notice a secret wall door to the south west of the room you are in. Not sure where it would go though.

This is a dumb secret tunnel

All of the screen panels get destroyed. No face shows up on the panels.

Half damage

With a rawr of pain the creature looks around the room and starts to flash out of existance like a strobe light.

Triggers AoO. Will Retcon if needed

As the creature starts to flash over and over he lashes out toward Mosquito who is flanking him.
Fangs vs Mosquito: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (6) + 16 = 22
Damage: 2d10 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (9, 6) + 6 + (1) = 22

Items of note on Clerics
+1 spiked Gauntlet
Gray Access Card
Scroll of unholy blight

Perception checks to look over room if you wish to pause for awhile

Beryl runs in and heals the small lizard. Then throws a bomb which lands to the creature's side. Just causing a bit of frost on its skin. Staring at Baryl.

"“Mongrel cave-things! You dare enter Ralldar’s kingdom? Bestow upon your god proper tribute, or be consumed by misery and death!”

Then Mosquito runs in and misses with his flail. But in the moment Mosquito gives this large Mutant Fiend, he is suddenly a little afraid of this small goblin.

Enara's strikes hit hard flesh and don't seem to make enough contact for damage.

But as the Druid shifts back into its own shape, the Creature is surprised. Then with a swift stab into the creature. Who yells out with a feral scream.
