Cynthia's family moved to New York from Ireland when she was still in middle school. Cynthia's strength has always been with people, though she's clever enough with technology and even flirted with a history major in college. Languages and leadership were a part of her plan even in high school, and she found that the Army ROTC was a good choice for getting her education. She finished school and her time in the Army and moved on to business and business management.

Cynthia is physically fit and retains some of her combat training from her time in the army, but even then her focus was more on her duties as translator, not on combat. Like most managers, she deals with people and personalities more than the day to day skills the people she manages use - and her understanding of technical issues sometimes lags behind that of her people - but she trusts her ability to read people to help her understand who is giving her good advice and use that advice wisely.

As a history buff with reasonable physical capabilities and her language skills, Cynthia is excited by the possibilities inherent in this latest project, and hopeful she might be able to be on a team or work closely with a team that goes through to another plane.
