Hello, I'm back. The map really helps, thanks.

Could you please NPC Cunorix for a while? I am hugely busy at the moment, sorry

"I know how to read Cornish and Waelish. Let me have a look."

Cunorix picks up the book that Gabra discards. He flips through it.

"My goodness!" he gasps. "Such filth!"

(and tucks it away when he thinks nobody is looking.)

Oops, nevermind then.

"Shall we open one of those doors?"

"Let's prepare to greet them. Quick, let's hide under the staircase."

"Aye. It seems the troubles of Saltmarsh are of a far more earthly nature."

Cunorix eyes the marked door.

"I wonder what's so dangerous?"

The cleric helps Gabra arrange the bodies.

Cunorix bows his head as the elf recites the poem.

"That was wonderful, Byggvir ."

Cunorix attempts a clumsy swing at the man.

Attack 1d20=5

"No! How could you do that to your own man?" cries the cleric.

Init 1d6=4

1d6=3

"Who are you people?" demands Cunorix, waving his mace imperiously. "What are you doing living beneath this fell house?"

Realizing Byggvyr is casting a charm over the man, Cunorix stays his hand to let the spell do its work.

"No! Wait! We mean no harm, man! We're only here to investigate certain happenings in the village nearby."

Cunorix hails the man. "Ah, hello good sir. We're sorry to have barged in but we thought this place was abandoned."

Hang in there, buddy

"Ah, let's put this poor man to rest afterward? It will take much time to perform the rites and build the bonfire."

Who's next?

Init 1d20=8

How far along is the body in decomposition?

"How did this warrior meet his end here? What a dreary place to die alone."

The cleric bows his head in prayer to the gods.

"Aye," he says with a grave nod, trying not seem scared.

"I have no spells, for I have not yet proved myself worthy to the gods."

Cunorix is startled as well, nearly dropping his mace. He then frowns and shouts, "nay! In the name of the free people of Saltmarsh, we come to root out evil!"

"Should we go down?" asks the cleric nervously.

"The door then," says the cleric. He puts his hand on the handle, looks into the eyes of each of his fellow explorers, then flings the door open.

"Should we go up? Or see what's behind that door?"

Anticipating violence, Cunorix swallows and shifts his grip on his mace.

Cunorix smiles and takes a torch. "Thank you, Ghindor."

Glad you guys like the mapping idead. Door duly noted.

I've started a map of the dungeon
Map.

What's our marching order? I have plate armor, and am willing to take front or rear.

As will Cunorix.

"Aye. The front is a good an approach as any."

What time of the day is it?

Cunorix waves and smiles to the gathered folk.

"Ah, don't be worried for us. It's nothing but a short jaunt there and back."

[ooc]I roll a diplomacy check .... oops, wrong edition![/poc]

"Hmmm. Perhaps it would have been better if we talked to earlier. Ah well, it's not too late to sort things out."

That's cool.

BTW, I've figured out my encumbrance to be 90 lbs. and movement rate to be 9. I really like how the abbreviated weight system works (10 lbs for equipment)

I'll contribute 10 gp

I personally think we should be OK. If it turns out that the mansion is too deadly, we can always come back and recruit more.

"Aye, I'll go. I'll do anything to bring some peace of mind to Saltmarsh."

I deducted 4 cp for the beer.

"Barkeep, a mug of your finest, if you please," asks Cunorix.

In a low voice Cunorix says, "have you been near the mansion? Is it true that it is dangerous there?"

"I'll come. I too have heard about this house. Let's get to the truth behind these tales, if only to narrow down the possible causes behind the woes of Saltmarsh."

Gabra spies Cunorix in the marketplace, and she knows Ghindor went to the docks.

"Gabra! How you did you do? For my part, I found not a soul who would throw in with us. There is much fear in these parts."

Cunorix asks around and is met with suspicion from some and fear from others:

"What are you after?"

"You're not going up-coast are you? Steer clear of the alchemist's old house. That's all I'll say."

"Listen, priest, if you're after my lad for some dark purpose, you can think again."

Not wishing to offend the people of Saltmarsh, Cunorix does not pester them any more. He goes in search of his new friends instead.
