if he cant SEE me that mean he only see a sort of glowing ball larger than me around me so he have 50% miss chance AND i need to be in his 60ft cone-shaped area while 3 rounds?

Soooo...it seem to be a little late as i see the date of that topic but...hum...can detect magic make you see a pixie and if it does, you do need 3 round to know EXACTLY where she is to grab her? ( I play a Tiny pixie of 2 inch and the mage keep calling DETECT MAGIC, grab me instantly if i cant beat his dice roll)

It's all just a game, and there's a certain hilarity to "The gods are inexplicably pleased today! Mmmm, chocolate!" However, I'm generally against anything that blurs the division between the in-game world and this rather lackluster one that we're forced to make do with between games. Besides, I don't want to give the GM's girlfriend the idea that bribing the GM is OK: she's got more options in that department than I do.

oh well...i wont say anything about a girl who just started to play and her GM boyfriend who gets...no...i wont...

just kidding

well, i understand that its not so fair but we have real fun with him and that dont happen too often...

Also, i dont think i will do it again enyway...dont feel right (damn loyal good, as my boyfriend says...)

The GM should reward people who play in a style that increases the fun of the rest of the players and the GM.

I totally agree with that, because i think there's no real fun if it's not everyone who have fun.

One of my GM's said in the begining that he takes bribe...i do understand what that mean but i'm not sure I agree with that...

I used it once, i had a deck of many tings, lost 10 000xp...and others bad things (I SWEAR I'LL NEVER TAKE CARD AGAIN! WE SHOULD BURN THAT DECK! WE ALMOST DESTROYED AN ENTIRE TOWN OMFG....enyway...)

So i gave him a McCain chocolat cake and i retrieve my XP'S....

On the spot that sounded good, i was chill with that...but somone else diD it too, in order to have an adamantium armor for almost half of the price and i felt injustice....then I tought: Maybe that's what happen when u do it...when i did it, they all felt the same?

So i'm asking: Would you do it? Or as a GM, do you allow bribes? What do you think about it?

The best arcane archer builds usually involve at least 4 levels of ranger, I find; nets you Aspect of the Falcon (Which is similar to gaining two fighter feats, if you can make potions/scrolls/wands of it as well all the better), in addition to an archery feat and animal companion.

As far as which casting type to take, Sorcerer would be the best- pick Sylvan Bloodline if the GM'll let it stack with Ranger levels. That nets your animal companion a bit more HP, and Ranger4/Sorc2 +Boon Companion means level 7 if the GM lets it stack like that, which he should be okay with- it's not exactly unbalanced, and the wolf should be able to serve as a capable mount with a couple of cheap magic items.

If the GM doesn't allow you to stack those levels for animal companion, then I'd go for a Wizard or Bard. Wizard gives a load of good spells, Bard gives some healing and buffs.

I'm not really found of animal companions, one caracter is already taking all my concentration so add an animal companion and it could be really messy

Pixies also make very decent wizards and sorcerers. They're small by default, so any weapon attack will suffer from reduced weapon damage, spells don't.

On the other hand their natural invisibility ability lends itself to make a sneak attack character. Sneak attack is also unaffected by size, even if your daggers only do 1d3 damage or so.
You could be a rogue or ninja and use a bow and even though it doesn't do much damage on it's own (1d3 I believe for shortbow), as long as you're within 30 feet and they can't See Invisible you'd do an extra 2d6 at level 3. Or take Flurry of Stars and throw lots of Shuriken.
Or dual wielding knifes/daggers/shortswords works fine too. You're actually small sized it seems (I thought it was tiny), so you still have 5 ft range just like any other PC. Dual wielding means more attacks per round which means more sneak attack damage in return.

However you should double check with your GM he might nerf the invisibility somewhat.

Ninja is quite interesting i will chek it, rogue seem simple and interesting too but wizard and sorcerer really dont pick my interest because of those spell per day...

Lincoln Hills wrote:

Ordinarily I wouldn't press advice on class choices, but as you admit you're fairly new, I'll suggest Rogue. You may hear people claim the Rogue is weak, but the Rogue they're talking about generally doesn't belong to a race that has flight and constant improved invisibility: I assure you that those options turn the Rogue around tremendously. (I speak here from experience due to a reincarnation spell that... well, it's a long story.)

You can always add prestige class levels later on, once you've met the prerequisites.

That dosent sound bad at all i will consider this, your'e the second one to tell me that rogue could work....also it's quite simple compared to multiclass and all so maybe easier for me to take that class (maybe im trying to much to make complicated things so i can follow my team cause they always make complicated caracters XD)

Vestrial wrote:

Well what do you want your AA to actually do?

I want to kill poeple? XD

More precisely: I want to touch, make one big damage, maximize dex (AC and skills check)

Vestrial wrote:
A pixie is awesome as a bard, but he will probably just be better off going straight bard. You really don't want to slow the bard's already slow progression for a couple tricks that won't even help that much.

Well, as i see it, a bard seem pretty....useless in combat? Maybe i didnt really catch the concept behind the bard but i dont find it really usefull if its not for knowledge...

Vestrial wrote:
I understand the allure of choosing spells at will, but the wizard gets more spells per day, so you can be somewhat flexible with what you memorize, plus he gets scribe scroll, so you can have tons of backup utility spells always on hand, and with a bonded item you can cast any spell you know once per day.

Yeah i didnt took notice of the use of scroll and i agree so i'll consider that but there's so many spell, i'm with player who know them all, they can be better wizard than me cause they know wich spell use in wich situation without even looking in the books but i cant do that....so i was thinking that i cannot be a good wizard.

Vestrial wrote:
Unless you want to be the party 'face,' I think the wizard just wins, hands down.

I'll try to be the face in the party when i'll be able to make a caracter by myself wihout asking question each 5 minutes XD

I never said i wanted to play with guns, thistledown did...so i was asking but enyway guns dont sound so bad i'll ask my dm if i can use them that could be easier for me to be Gunslinger

but if i cant i think i'll take a bard lvl instead of wizard to make AA because i dont like the spell per day i prefer choosing specifics spell at will

thistledown wrote:

Not a bow, but a gun will add dex to damage at 5th level and up.

Otherwise, you're looking at the Agile enchantment. Which works on anything weapon finesse works on. But correct, only melee.

Arcane Archer can work with gun?

argh! Is there any way to use a longbow for my size and use dex instead of str to hit and/or make dmg? Because weapon finess seem to work only with melee weapon

Should give you something to work on.

Kool tk u! Now i can work with something than just air and memory XD

Vestrial wrote:
I played a pixie arcane archer once, and it was a blast. I think I did something like 2 fighter/5 wiz, then into AA. It's been a while though, so I can't remember. Lower base damage dice, but huge dex, size bonuses to-hit (I went tiny a lot for another +1 and ridiculous stealth). I used elemental enchants, flame arrow, and deadly aim as my primary damage, and he did quite well.

Ok i just read a little more about Arcane archer and it seem that it could work just fine as u say but i'm thinking about taking only ranger lvl then AA

Could that work?

yeah he is XD

I could propably help myself if only i had internet at home but i dont so i'm a the office but all d20 website, facebook, youtube and things like that are blocked

But hey! Paizo isnt ^^

I'm going in another Path game ( Really?, i'm addict it's official!)

My DM gave me the bestiaries, said pick one, wich i did...
now pick a number page...well

I'm now a Pixie. My DM said that he will give me my stats and all by emails later and i'm trying to be patient by looking for classes.

I'm supposed to be lvl 3 and i want to know if Arcan Archer is a good idea?

Also it seem to be a prestige class and i dont know what it mean exactly.

Sorry for my english, it's not my first language but dont worry I understand well.

EDIT: What I want to know exactly is: Is Arcane Archer is a good choice, what is a prestige class because it's one

If it's not a good idea, wich classes could be better?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

here the advices i'll take:
1st Level - Take Barbarian, no archetype
2nd Level - Vivisectionist Alchemist
3rd Level - Alchemist

Discovery - Feral Mutagen

Feats - Power Attack, Extra Discovery (Bleeding Attack)

With Feral Mutagen, you will have 2 1d6 Claws and a 1d8 bite while you are using your Mutagen.

Add Enlarge Person as one of your Extracts.
Take Power Attack.

Use your Rage.

Use a Strength-based Mutagen.

With Mutagen and Rage, you will have a STR of 26.
28 with Enlarge Person, and your claws will move to d8's, your bite to 2d6.
Power Attack will add even more damage.
+1d6 from Sneak Attack (Vivisectionist)
+ bleed damage, which you said you wanted

for natural attacks, you can take all of them in a single full-attack action at your highest attack bonus for primary ones, and at -5 for secondary ones. Things get ugly as you add manufactured weapons (swords, the claw blades, etc).

At present, all of your attacks, CrazyGab, can be primary.

ok ill try to do that caracter sheet for real now that propably will take me 1 hours or two XD

keep posting if u got something

Ok i understand all u said, all of you but where im lost is my classes: so 1 barbarian lvl and 2 Alchemist Vivisectionist lvl, next lvl i take another barbarian lvl right?

after that ill max what? marbarian or alchemist?

Lamontius wrote:

Can you use claws that you grow, like through Feral Mutagen or Beast Totem?

I think i could i didnt want tu use natural claws cause they dont make enough damage but if there's a way to make them dealing good dmg when im fighting that could be great : if thats what u meant

when u say: dip that mean taking more barbarian lvlv is that correct?

I dont understant what u mean by: use claws that you grow

I'Ll try to do this right away but keep posting if you got somthing in mind, ill stay oppen to suggestions

Wasum wrote:

Dont take cleave. Just dont. Does not work good with natural weapons at all!

You should decode whether to be barbarian and dip vivisectionist or whether to be vivisectionist and dip barbarian - both can be quit potent.

I forgot to tell you: i cant use my natural claws as weapon: those adamantium claws i'm talking about are real weapon, like stolable...

Nicos wrote:

Exactly what that person told to you? why 2levels of barbarian 1 of vivisecsionist?

He didnt say why but i think its because of the mutagen, that can increase my str for more dmg or my dex for mor AC and maybe more hit in a turn? I get Throw anything as class ability that can be usefull. Also The Vivisectionist can get bleeding atk instead of discovery, and i get a sneak atack so more damage. That's what i think.

Barbarian lvl give my Lesser beast toem (2 claws atk) and Uncanny dodge. The Rage itself give me more str so more dmg.

I think Tht's the reason. He told me to pick Power atk and cleave as feats.

Lamontius wrote:

CrazyGab, can you tell us more about your game?

Are you building a level 3 character?

Has your GM said anything is not allowed?

The more you tell us, the more we can help.

It's a Catfolk LvL 3, no Monk, no advenced RaceBook

Stats: 18, 17, 17, 16, 16, 11
My only Gear are my Adamantium Claws
I want to Hit as much as possible, Dealing the more damage possible,Less touchable as i can and eventually dealing Bleeding.

HP and skills are less important, but i want to max Acrobatic, Intimidate, Stealth and Perception

Hi, my first path game (and my third d20 game ever) was with my barbarian. I'm now fan of dealing damage.

But we all died, i'm trying to create a new caracter as a Catfolk lvl 3 with those stats: 18, 17, 17, 16, 16, 11

I have only adamantium claws to fight, nothing else. I cant make a monk

I want to make a fury who go in combat and hit multiple time, as much as possible, dodge as much as possible (having high AC is good so i was told) and eventually do some bleeding

Somone told me 2 barbarian lvl and 1 vivisectionist lvl should do it but now that i did my caracter sheet im not sure thats good. Also, i dont know what to do for my next lvls! can somone help me?

PS: Sry for my english my first language is french but i can read well so dont worry i'll understand everything you'll said

I was that kind of player until the GM said: I say things juste once from now on...you didnt heard, you dont know...that's it!

And personaly, it's easier for me to pay attention when this is not just a combat. For exemple: When there's too much text, tweet or blabla, you add something like a percept check for everyone and somone or somthing happen totally unexpected form a regular combat so players have to think trough it while it's not their turn.

For exemple: You can set in a deck of many things falling from the pocket of the first enemy dead...

you can made a few gobelin sneak in the cave while they are on combat, and try to stole the treasure behind the enemy who was trying to protect it...

Strange runes on the walls suddenly appears?

Things like that

I dont know if this will help, im not a GM and i dont know DnD / Pathfinder well cause im a new player but maybe it could help

Also, sorry for my english my first language is french
