Background:
From an early age, Corvus was destined for life as as either someone’s lady or a priest. A daughter of a lord meant either an unsatisfactory political marriage or a life of celibacy. Neither option appealed to Corvus and so she opted for the latter overtly and decided on a Plan B covertly.
She was noticed by an abbot that was on his way to take charge of a monastery. The abbot convinced Corvus' parents to release her to his keeping - as she was no doubt destined to join the Order of the Keeping. Alas, the abbot was not virtuous and groomed the young Corvus - as he did with many pretty young girls he had convinced families to hand over to the church.
Corvus knew the teachings of the church were not congruous with how she was being treated - and when a new young girl was brought to the monastery and was abused by the abbot, Corvus saw this as a test of her faith.
She considered her beliefs and decided that the acts occurring at the monastery were not appropriate and she confronted the abbot. He laughed at her; then beat her and promised to rape her. She picked up a nearby candlestick and calmly bludgeoned him to death.
Corvus knew her version of events would not be believed but she also refused to return home and face being wedded to some bloated earl to soothe her father’s political ego. Once more, she faced a moral dilemma. Deciding to act in a selfless way and believing it was her duty to protect others, she took up the role of a virtuous avenger. Running from the monastery, she looked for wrongs to right when others would turn a blind eye. When those who transgressed were above the law, she saw that justice was done. Now outwardly agnostic, an eagle eye will spy a glimpse of a holy symbol still attached to a leather cord around her neck - but only a fool would enquire as to her faith.
This brought her to the attention of the House Gixx. They had a resident wet-boy (like an assassin only his assignments were already dead – they just didn’t know it yet) and he took her under his wing and taught her in the ways of his profession, adding poisons and subterfuge to her repertoire. Alas, he too had more carnal interests and knowing she couldn’t kill him herself, she let slip to a rival house of his latest ‘deader’ – one of their own. They had more than enough men to kill him as he accomplished his task. She moved districts since then and currently resides in the Coins - as it's the nosiest and busiest district and therefire the easiest to come and go in without drwaing attention. Plus it's cheap enough for her currently meagre income.
Now rudderless, Corvus seeks the means to fund her rise through the ranks to become the leader of her own guild – a guild of wet-boys that would at last put her in a position to call the shots and not be beholden to any man.
Many people would pigeon-hole Corvus as a rogue, but she sees herself more as a stealthy assassin, and has tried to develop her skills that way. Her lack of strength means she always plans to get close to her victim and will use stealth or her charisma to achieve that 'kill.'
As young women go, Corvus is tall and thin. She may not be strong, but she is agile and uses this to compensate when others underestimate her abilities. She's smart and also charming when it suits her.
