Whispers back to Hemlock: Spoiler: "I understand. I would have volunteered without the retainer... but understandably, I can't afford to refuse down the money the Mayor is offering. But I'll see if some of my share can be distributed by the Father to some of the families hurting after the raid."
Male Human Ranger 1
Corran has a thoughtful look on his face as he ponders this turn of events, and then speaks up. "Would the regular militia know about our retainer? I mean, since we wouldn't be in command or anything, just here and able to help as needed." I would have been here anyways, but I can't turn down money like this. Ten gold a day! I just hope this doesn't jeopardize my training with the other soldiers at the barracks. I failed the perception tests as well

Corran failed the perception test Walking down the stairs from the odd dinner with Lord Foxglove, Corran turns to his newfound comrades. "I'm sorry for my silence. I did not mean to be rude, but I get.. shy... when I'm uncomfortable like that." Corran rubs his sweaty forehead with the back of his hand. "I'm used to simple, rustic fare out on the farm. Not extravagant or exotic dishes like Minkai oyster chowder. And I'm not sure if Lord Foxglove meant to insult us, or if that was a twisted sort of compliment in his mind. But my family always says to keep your head down and try not to draw attention from the nobility. Nothing good usually comes of it for a simple soldier." Corran glances at Ehlissa and blushes slightly. "Um... I didn't mean anything bad about nobles in general, and definitely not about you. Its just that... well, any nobles I'm likely to meet would be officers, and officers don't generally mix with the common troops." Corran will hang around for a nightcap if anyone else is, and then go to bed. On the morning, he'll go with Sidell to investigate the graverobbing, and then most likely go to the barracks to train some more. And he'll definitely try to make himself scarce if Lord Foxglove is around.

Corran just shrugs at Vesh. Not that I suspect Ehlissa of lying, but its not my place to question a noble. Doing stuff like that tends to be bad when most of the nobles you encounter are officers ranked far above a lowly trooper, or so I've been told by my family. Just nod, agree to do whatever they command, and then do what really needs to be done when they aren't around. I'll post my own reply to the question later, since we are on a flexible schedule with the holiday

Corran continues to train and spar at the barracks whenever possible. While there, he hears quite a bit of gossip from the militia. Likewise, people tend to want to tell the "hero" all kinds of things during the evenings at the Rusty Dragon. While Corran doesn't think he can do much about the missing corpse, he does go to Hemlock to offer his services in light of the militia being undermanned due to the casulties.

Nothing too specific to ask,but I'll probably spend my days practicing here if we have more than a days downtime, returning to the Rusty Dragon for dinner and to talk to people before turning in for the night

Corran is going to stare awestruck at the 15 platinum coins, then go looking for a sparring partner or a practice field of sorts. Then I'll spend the day working on my melee skills, since I feel I was lacking in the last fight. The arrow in the shoulder was unavoidable in that situation, but letting the goblin leader through my guard to slice me? Unacceptable. I'll be back in time to wash up before dinner.

It totally slipped Corran's mind in the aftermath of his first real battle... but he'll remember in time to go and collect the little bugger and give him to Hemlock to interogate. Maybe bash him a few times if he is struggling ;-)

Corran is going to clean his sword blade off, retrieve his shield from Ehlissa, and then head back to the church. He is going to seek out whoever is in charge of triage, probably Father Zanthus, and then offer them the potion I was given but haven't used yet. I'm assuming that there are many wounded people in town, and others are going to be in need more than I. Corran is at 4/10 HP, so I'm not bad off, essentially a few days rest away from being back to full health After that, I'll head back the Rusty Dragon, get a meal and say hi to everyone else, then go to bed.
Male Human Ranger 1
"I'm fine" Corran says stoically, as he holds a bandage in place over his wounded shoulder. He ignores the footman comment, as he was dealing with his wounds "At least as long as I don't let another goblin stab or shoot me" Stupid! I practiced for countless hours, and I come up with a boneheaded move like charging an archer with an arrow on his string. I should have used cover, and them I wouldn't be bleeding like a stuck pig. At least my arm seems operational, the arrow went straight through the muscle and didn't break or cut up anything vital. Gripping his bloody sword in one hand, the other hand pressing the bandage tight, Corran levers himself to his feet and looks around. "Are we needed elsewhere? I don't hear any more alarms, maybe the watch has the goblins under control now? Corran winces. "And can someone help me secure this bandage? I might need both hands free again soon if more goblins come." "Is anyone else wounded? I can still fight, so..." He indicates the healing potion. This isn't quite pure bravado and adrenaline from Corran, as he is "only" down to 3 HP out of 10 max. But I won't turn down the potion if no one else needs it more. Or maybe we could save it for later. And if Corran was paying attention to that "he should try using a shield comment" instead of tending his wounds, Aldern might have been punched in the face ;-)

"Aargh!" Corran screams in pain and rage as the arrow rips into him. "Die gobo scum!" The sword gripped in both hands, Corran steps forward and whips the blade from over his shoulder and down into the goblin champion with a meaty thunk. Finally, some good rolls. Corran smacked the goblin champion for 13 pts of damage. Almost a critical too. Oh, and I moved 5' to L4

Corran rushes around the corner of the building, his blade in a 2 handed grip. "Goblin scum! Try facing someone armed!" Corran double moves to S5, which should leave a shooting lane between himself and Ehlissa, as well as being far enough "wide" that the wolf just doesn't go wide himself around the front-line and start munching on our archer types.

Sounds good to me. But rather than have Corran spend his action to aid another to Ehlissa... I'll just offer her my shield. I've still got a chain shirt on and haven't been hit yet, so that should be ok. "Ehlissa, you may want this, since you are unarmoured." Corran unslings his shield and passes it to her, then takes a two-handed grip on his longsword. "The fight ahead might be chaotic, and you might need the shield to ward yourself. I'm still wearing my mail shirt, so I'll be protected as well." I'll advance in formation, as Slidell suggested, and I got a 13 on initiative

Vesh wrote: Almost forgot: Vesh will temporarily add a shortbow and a quiver of 20 arrows to his equipment. Good point. I'll take the longbow if no else needs it. But I'd probably serve best as the first into melee, since I think I have the highest AC at the moment. Plus I'm more effective in close combat when I can full attack with both sword and shield

The girl places a hand on his shoulder, "It was like that for me too, the first time I- the first man I killed. It wasn't pleasant. It still isn't." "I'm alright, thank you." Corran rips a piece of cloth of a dead goblin's clothes and starts to clean his blade. "I've been in fights before, and training, but this was... different." One stroke, and I ended a life. A goblin life, but still.... was it supposed to be this easy? Two or three dead at my hands, and I feel no guilt, for they were the aggressor, and I did my duty. But that could have been me, laying here split open in the sun. Will I still stand strong if I am wounded like Ehlissa or Naelah was? Corran stands, and rinses his mouth out with his waterskin. "If the square is secure, we should go and seek out where we could help more. For a raid like this, there must be more goblins to slay or fires to put out." Perception check 16 to see if I can tell where we are needed most
Male Human Ranger 1
Corran sprints around the wagon and attempts to dismember the distracted goblin with a quick slash. Move to B17, and then I hit a 14 with the flanking bonus included. 11 points of damage.
Male Human Ranger 1
Full attack, hit a 20 with my sword, and an 11 with my shield I'm assuming the 9 pts of damage from the sword is sufficient though. Corran throws an overhand slash at his opponent.

Corran apparently isn't very perceptive, as I only got a 15 even with a +7 modifier For initiative, I got a 13 so that is marginally better than last time. I hope I do better when the dice are rolled once combat starts, lol Corran offers to help (Heal check +2) if anyone else needs bandaging, although my healer's kit is at the inn, along with my shortbow.

Ouch, I rolled a 5 for the graple check. I hope Ehlissa does better, lol On my turn (immediately after the goblin I believe) I'll punch the goblin. I hit a nine, so I don't believe I hit. Damage is a 6 if it does hit though

Ehlissa, do we want to just grapple this goblin until the watch comes, or just pound him unconcious with subdual damage? Corran is fine with just slugging him ;-) One punch would probably be enough, with the +5 damage on my unarmed strike. (+3 STR, +2 Favored enemy)

I'm ok with that option. If neither target is in front of me for my intended actions, I'd change it to a move + longsword attack vs the goblins that Elhissa is fighting.

Corran shifts slightly to the south to support the injured swashbuckler (?I'm referring to Malcom) who has been wounded by a goblin slasher. Move 5' to M8, the square Malcom just vacated Corran punches his shield out at the goblin on his left (N7) and makes a backhand cut with his longsword on the goblin directly in front of him. (M7) "For Iomedae! Sandpoint!" Longsword vs M7 hit AC 13 for 10 HP Shield Bash vs N7 hit AC 5 for 6 HP
Male Human Ranger 1
Corran unslings his shield and readies it as he advances towards the nearest goblin still standing. (M9?) If I can't reach one with a move action, I'll ready my sword to strike the first one that enters my threatened squares "To arms! Die Goblin scum!" I think I missed, only got a 10. If not, the damage is 11

Location: K14 Corran and Ehlissa sit on a bail of hay in the back row, leaving the closer seats for the children, as they watch the festivities. Turning around to watch the butterflies, Corran notices several things going on in the crowd, and overhears a bit of gossip. As the goblins appear, Corran jumps to his feet. "Ware! Goblins! To arms!" Corran rushes towards the wagon, intent on not loosing the goblin in the crowd. Corran knows a fair bit about goblins, afterall, he expects to spend most of his adult life fighting either goblins or bandits. Knowledge: Goblins 26!

"But I don't know if I want to spend the next twenty years chasing bandits and walking the walls. Its honorable work, and it needs to be done. Iomedae knows we could use more soldiers here in the hinterlands, our farmhold has been raided more than once by goblins or bandit scum. Not that we didn't see them off, but others aren't as well equipped or trained as our farmhold." His eyes light up, and his voice becomes more animated "But I want to travel, and see places I've only read about.
