(Level 1) Lore Keeper (Ex): Instead of encyclopedic knowledge, you learn most of your information through tales, songs, and poems. You may use your Charisma modifier instead of your Intelligence modifier on all Knowledge checks. (Extra Revelation feat) Sidestep Secret (Su): Your innate understanding of the universe has granted you preternatural reflexes and the uncanny ability to step out of danger at the very last second. Add your Charisma modifier (instead of your Dexterity modifier) to your Armor Class and all Reflex saving throws. Your armor’s maximum Dexterity bonus applies to your Charisma instead of your Dexterity.
Background:
Concetta was born and raised in Kintargo, in the home of her aunt, the Countess Urora Sarini. Her life has been one of opulence and comforts, but also one of duty, diabolism, and lacking in freedom. Her mother was strict, and wholly adherent to everything the Sarini name stood for: faithful practice of diabolism, a deep love and total support of house Thrune, with a healthy respect for music and theater. From an early age Concetta was groomed for both marriage and the stage; with daily lessons for her in song, etiquette, and the family’s faith. Her mother had grand plans for Concetta’s future, insisting that she would become a great opera singer and marry into house Thrune. Concetta was never really thrilled with her mother’s fantasy. As a little girl she found theater and opera boring, and singing lessons tedious. She would have much rather spent her time playing with her many cousins, and their friends from outside the family. Worse than the lessons were the rituals -- she found their family faith disturbing, and even frightening. When Concetta was old enough she began attending Lady Docur’s School for Girls, where she was able to broaden her education some. Although she didn’t make many friends, some of her classmates hobbies and social activities tempted her more adventurous side. Now and then she’d sneak out to sip drinks at different taverns, or explore the markets. A few times she even visited the House of Satin Veils, to see what Calistria’s faith was really like. She was soon enamoured with Calistria, and felt much more comfortable with their practices than with her own family’s. Concetta took to sleeping with a silver holy symbol of Calistria beneath her pillow. Her mother was furious when a servant found it, and brought it to her attention. She was forced to melt the symbol in hellfire, herself; in a dark and sombre ritual, meant to cleanse her for the infraction. Apparently, Hell did not find her adherence sincere, and judged her unworthy. Concetta’s hands and arms were badly burned, and although she was given the best treatment available, she remains scarred by the ritual. Her arms became blackened, with thin and papery skin. She was forced to wear opera gloves outside the house, to hide her deformity. In the weeks and months since she came to realize she had developed some sort of divine power, and assumed the ritual had something to do with it. Concetta has recently turned 19, and has grown into a strikingly pretty young woman, with a beautiful singing voice. She has come to loathe everything about her family -- and the Thrunes. She sneaks out more and more often, usually to visit taverns. Clenchjaw’s and the Thrashing Badger had become her favorite places to drink, hear news and gossip, and even sing for smaller crowds...though the Badger had since burned down. Concetta grew concerned with the local troubles, particularly since Thrune became involved, and Hellknights began to walk the streets. With shops closing, building burning down, Calistria and other faiths outlawed, and the locals growing restless under Thrune’s thumb, she has come to loathe her own family more and more for their support of such disruptive tyrants. When Concetta’s mother began talking fondly of Barzillai Thrune, she knew things were about to worsen. Frequent mentions of Barzillai’s bachelor status, his love of opera, and how much he’d surely love to hear Concetta sing; she knew she had to something, and soon. When she heard of the coming protest, Concetta packed some of her more cherished belonging and snuck out -- with no intention of ever returning home.
Appearance/Personality:
Concetta is a pretty girl of 19 with fair skin and long, black hair, who seems small and unassuming. Though she is a talented singer and dancer, she’s avoided theater and the opera as much as possible. Most of her good clothes are red, usually a rich and darker hue, with tasteful black trim; in trendy Chelaxian styles. When sneaking out in public, she prefers a simple and slightly less tasteful dress with a reversible cloak. Regardless of how she’s dressed, Concetta always seems to be wearing a pair of red opera gloves that go up to her elbows. At home and in school, she was usually quiet and miserable. Outside, among more common folk, she feels happier and less stuffy -- willing to gossip, joke, drink, and sing. Concetta has come to loathe her family life, and harbors plenty of hatred towards the Thrunes as well. While she stands up for the people who’ve suffered under the current rule, her motives remain selfish. Recently she’s become reckless and brash.
